Hi YHMians!
Woke up to some awesome news of multiple awards for this amazing show and decided to make a post I have been wanting to make for a while - so please bear with me - am going to ramble a bit😆.
Having never - ever followed any television show this ardently and having never - ever watched or bothered about any telly awards show - the exhilarated feeling hearing of all these awards is a new feeling for me😳😆.So blame the longish post on that high!😆😉

Coming to the point - what is it that makes YHM the show that it has come to be in the last 7 months and 150+ episodes.
-
What YHM promised and what it delivered :

I remember watching one of the launch videos of YHM with the cast and the Star TV marketing guy and Ekta Kapoor and the repeated question was - Why is this show at 11pm - is the content such that it cannot be telecast at another slot? If so - how will the rural centres (which drive TRPs) relate to this show? and so on?
Both the channel and Ekta maintained and justified this beautifully. Esp Ekta said something to the score of ' its high time we gave the urban - Mumbai, Delhi audiences something that they can watch after reaching home tired at 10 -1 0 30pm'. And that they would want to create a new set of TV audiences in the cities using this show.

YHM delivered this and how - am sure the producers and the channel are patting their own backs now 😆😆. This is one of the most watched shows ever in the 11PM slot ever and not just that it has created and brought in a totally fresh viewership to Indian Television - the lot who would have shied away from even being caught dead discussing a Hindi TV soap😆. (I can relate cos I fall in that category😆).
The TRPs are rocking week on week and the show is doing fabulously in international markets too.The UK ratings are proof enough - Am 100% sure its peaking in US, Canada and the MIddle East too.👏👏

High on Content, fast paced script and the 'the humour' :

This is the only only soap that I have seen (among the limited ones I have seen), has a very fast pace in spite of dealing with some real life issues very deftly and with a whacky dry sense of humour. This is rare coming from a Indian telly stable.👏
Some editing glitches aside - the show has some great writers who have a flair for comedy, drama and romance - all 3 genres have been done well till now.
A special mention to the humour element in this show . Even in the most dramatic sequences we have that one line or reaction that totally takes you bu surprise and cracks you up (Credit to Karan Patel here👏 - and the writers for allowing him to take liberties👏)
Indian shows are normally either just comedy(which also is slapstick mostly - or few comic side characters that just come in to mouth comic lines), just drama - romance, horror-suspense. This show has blended all genres amazingly well till date and has a set of leads who have awesome comic timing - Great going👏

The Superb cast and performances:

I am one of those souls who began watching YHM for Ruhi😃..I kinda had time to spare and the show was late night - and the kid was freaking cute and the unique mother - daughter bond intrigued me.
Few episodes on and I just couldn't take my eyes off the lead pair - and this was in the early days of YHM where IshRa hardly met ot spoke (in a civil manner😆) , save those few beautiful eyelocks. I was so hooked then - cos I spent quite a lot of the serial time trying to understand just what was it that was so attractive about this pair 😆 and I think I have still not managed to put a finger on exactly what makes them so magical every time they are on screen - everything - the body language, the gestures, the comfort - heck most of the beautiful IshRa scenes have been the ones which don't even have dialogues - That my folks is great great chemistry👏 and a great job by the casting team.
And then the performances - there are just so so many scenes taken to a totally new level by just the way they have been delivered - And that level has just kept getting better. Finger crossed for some rocking times ahead⭐️.

Consistency :

Yes - we all know the inevitable - All telly shows come with a life of few 100 interesting episodes and then they all go downhill (Have seen a lotta posts on this forum fearing that). For someone who has not followed any Ekta / non Ekta serial in the past - except few isolated scenes and articles here and there - I can vouch for the fact that this serial has been intriguing till now.
Except for a few drags (the DNA thingy and now the accident drama) , most such tracks have also led to a crescendo which justified them .
I so - so wish Indian tellys come with a tight bound script and are broken into seasons like their US counterparts giving breathing space to cast and creatives - but...but ..(before you guys hate me for this!!..😊)..YHM has been consistent and addictive - and I pray it continues to do so and the makers surprise us by sticking to their planned timelines to run the show - whatever be the TRP/Business implications. I would want to remember YHM fondly even years from now for being unique here too😳.

Here I end my long first post on this forum with a huge round of applause to everyone associated with the show - and the relentless fans who support them.👏👏👏
Here is hoping for many many more accolades and happy times to come!!

Ending with a disclaimer that all the views here are solely mine - and not to berate or belittle anyone or any viewpoints on this forum😊

Very well articulated👏

I would like to just add something:

"the lot who would have shied away from even being caught dead discussing a Hindi TV soap"
-> I fall into the same category too. I am very careful who I tell about watching YHM. I am afraid my friends will just judge me (like I would have earlier)

I had some free time early this year and I was up to date with all the American series I watch, so I watched marathons of quite a few recent hindi soaps. This one stuck, and HOW!!! I came back to IF and started writing after a LOOONG time. I am saying this because the characters are SO well written that they inspire amateurs like me to write their heart out, and it makes it so easy. I believe that is one of the most unique things about this show. The depth in characters is something I have found missing in many of the shows I have browsed through. In that aspect I can equate YHM with a lot of western shows I watch. Something I have NEVER said out loud, but I fell in love with Raman's character because he reminded me of House SO MUCH😃 (random info😆)

I read a quote somewhere (cant find it now) that goes something like "The day they'll show me something more stupid than me, I'll stop watching" ... I must say YHM has been a VERY intelligent show.

This is one of the best analytical posts I have read so far on this forum. I can very well relate to your feelings for this show because for me too Indian television is my guilty pleasure. I was never so hung up on Indian tv serials. YHM is one show that I love with all my heart and never shy away from confessing it to friends who detest the name of hindi serials. You have applauded everybody and I agree with all that you had to say about this wonderful piece of fiction on small screen. The actors are doing a fabulous job. Moreover I fell in love with this forum and the show at the same time. All the fans here are very loyal to this show and leave no stone unturned to bring it to the top. These are ardent followers and I will reiterate what you said that this show has attracted a new intellectual audience which is apparent in the healthy and stimulating discussions that take place.

Hi Lucky!..let me tell you how much I adore your OSes..esp your grasp of your muse's character...RKB😉..RKB ..esp his humour reminds me of Rick Castle from Castle..for some strange reason 😆...though Raman is certainly more nuanced and addictive ...but House ..yeah👍🏼

@red ..I can so..so relate..esp since I don't even watch the dramedies in US telly..only stick to crime and thrillers😆
@blue..Wow! what a way to summarize the entire post...yes..agree totally

@bold red - you and me should talk 😆 I adore Castle.

but almost every series that I worship (and watch multiple times) has broken male leads...House, Dexter, Shield, The Wire and most recently Elementary and Justified...
What does that say about me
