Part 4:

He didn't wait for her response but just walked away. She grinned and her eyes were fixed on his retreating back. Even his taunts seemed sweet and cute to her now. She voiced that out unknowingly but regretted instantly because he heard it. He stopped at the door and turned back to wink at her. Her cheeks had already turned beetroot red. It was indeed her Raavan Kumar's effect on her!

As the meaning of what he said dawned on her, she blushed and wasn't able to understand her own feelings. She didn't understand why she felt such mixed and unknown emotions for his taunts or was it his first flirty remark about regretting the just for Ruhi' condition in their marriage. She didn't know but his casual statement had literally made her heart pace up by n folds and it tried to dig out the intended meanings of those words from him. Did he want to complete this marriage and make her his wife? Was he in love with her? Or was it like one of his usual one-liners which really had no deeper meaning but just said out in impulse? If it was the 3^rd case, then she had long before learnt to ignore them but was it just that? She stood lost in his words but then the turn of the door knob brought her to the present. She immediately rushed to the couch not wanting him to know her confusions because that will only add to his spirits to mock her further.

She closed her eyes instantly to save the situation but she was a late by a nanosecond and he caught her with open eyes. He chuckled as he walked to the bed. Stretching himself comfortably on the big king size bed he sarcastically remarked to add to her inner turmoil, "aaah...kitna soft aur comfortable hai yeh bed...perfect relief to my exhausted body!"

She fumed in anger as she was literally struggling on the small couch. He added further as if he didn't notice that she had her eyes closed already, "waise Ishita, woh couch tumaare liye bohat chota hoga na? Mera matlab, medium size karela chota size tray mein kahaan fit hoga??"

He mocked a fake pity for her state to pull her leg.

She flared up and turned to his direction glaring at him while he laughed that his plan to bring her out of the fake sleep worked. He added noting her getting hyper and turning around hastily, "arre aaraam se yaar zameen pe girr jaavogi..."

She mellowed down a little thinking he was concerned but he blew her fuse with another bouncer, "kaamakaa mujhe flooring change karna padega...tumaare overweight se tiles toot gayi toh?"

She frowned angrily and turned to the opposite side instantly. He wasn't letting her go so soon and so commented, "btw, maan na padega, ek simple si acting, woh bhi sone ki bhi nahi kar paayi tum...ek hi jhatke mein tumaare aankhen khul gayi, huh?"

She turned back crunching her face mimicking his taunt, "Acting vacting sab aap ka kaam hai...meri nahi...main sacch mein neend mein thi and you disturbed me...aap itne zor se baat karenge toh kumbhkaran bhi utt jaayega.."

He laughed again and sarcastically enquired, "toh maanthi ho ke tum kumbhkaran ho, huh? On second thoughts, Kumbhkaran nahi usski badi behen ho tum"

She only cursed under her breath, "muttaal, pranthu, paithyam" as she knew that winning over Raavan Kumar in a verbal duel was out of question. Silence was golden at such times but somewhere deep down in her heart, she also didn't want to end this conversation. As she felt earlier, she enjoyed even his taunts nowadays. She didn't want to dissect and find the reasons for her change of attitude but just wanted this night to go on longer. Always their conversations stopped abruptly at some point owing to the myriad of thoughts that the talks led to but today, she wanted it to extend. She wanted it to stretch longer and longer. Sleep appeared distant!

Even though embarrassed, she wanted him to press for answers or perhaps, understand her silence and interrupt the right meanings of it. He was in no better state. He himself was surprised at his wanting to prolong this talk through the night else he was always the one to shut her up and close all avenues of further conversations. But today, he was pestering her with his taunts and wanting her to fight back.

He could also not cross over his limit and let go of his ego. So he wished that she picked up a fight with him but both were silent. But his wish came real when she suddenly spoke up, "thanks Raman"

He smiled to himself thinking that she couldn't stay quiet for long but showed off a disinterest and replied, "paagal hogayi ho kya? Aadhi raat ko utaakar thanks bol rahi ho?? Thanks for what?? Tumaare sapne mein aane keliye, huh?"

She gestured a mock at that and then explained, "Thanks for making me feel better Raman...aap ne jo bhi kaha woh accha laga...mann halka hua"

He cherished those words but outwardly, he teased "accha lagne laga hoom, akdu Raavan Kumar aur usske taane sweet lagne laga hai...mmm let me guess, kahi Jhansi ki rani ko iss raavan se pyar toh nahi ho gaya, huh?"

She felt caught between her words and stuttered a bit but then was also irritated by his direct question which made her dumb. His straight forward question was quite unexpected. Of course Raavan Kumar was unpredictable always. She gathered herself up and managed to reply, "aiyoo murugan paagal hai yeh aadhmi kuch bhi boltha hai??? Are you crazy? Pyar aur main???aisa kuch nahi hai ok?"

He grinned sarcastically, "yeh mujhe samjhaa rahi ho ya khud ko?

She got up in annoyance and he sat up as well. She stammered, "yeh sab kya bakwas hai Raman...aaj Raavan kumar DDLJ ka SRK bann gaya huh? But let me tell you, it doesn't suit you!"

"Seedhe seedhe kaho ke tum kajol bann gaye ho...ek mauka nahi chodthi mujhe pataane ka...aur majhboori mein mujhe SRK banna padega..." he teased her without a mercy. She fumed, "Oh yeah...Keep dreaming..."

His reply was shot almost instantaneously, "So that your dreams come true, huh?"

She thought of a perfect counter answer and then replied sarcastically, "Why are you so bothered about what I feel about you Raman? Why do you want to know if I love you? Yeh sab jaan ke bhi kya kar loge, haan? Karela hoom, woh bhi moti karela jisse logon ne zabardasti aapke life mein tapkaa diya...then why do you seem so interested?"

He was trapped there but then he muttered slowly, "agar naseeb mein karela ka juice likha hai toh wahi sahi..."

She heard it faintly in bits and pieces but enquired to get clarity, "What?"

He ignored that question and spoke up, "waise ek baat bathao...tumne bola tha ke tum chaahkar bhi hum sab ko bacche ki khushiyaan nahi deh sakthi...hai na?"

She raised her eyebrows at the quick switch of topics and also wondered why he asked that now but nodded, "hmmm, toh?"

He was quick to question, "matlab tum ek aur baccha chaahti ho?"

She suspiciously looked at him but nodded as she didn't want to lie in this. He continued his tricky probing when she nodded, "matlab tum chaahti ho ke hum dono ka ek baccha ho?"

He stressed "HUM DONO" naughtily highlighting the obvious meaning of that.

His words trailed off while she was engulfed in a blend of emotions. She could read between his lines. His unsaid words kind of made her embarrassed or rather shy. She sunk back into the couch without replying to his question but saying something else, "kuch bhi lekhar beit gaye aap...I am feeling sleepy...good night!"

He grinned cheekily at his win and muttered, "Jhansi ki rani sharmaa gayi! Accha hai!"

She heard it and showed him a funny face before turning around to the opposite side. She knew that further discussion on the same could prove disastrous and could bring out more embarrassing questions and situations which she wasn't capable of handling at the moment. So she chose to back off silently. Only her rolling eyes chided him to keep quiet and not to assume things.

Though he laughed it off like a joke, such antics of hers, her rolling of eyes, raising and narrowing of her eyebrows had started seeming cute to him. He smiled and buried himself into the soft mattress hugging the pillows tightly, closely to himself [No marks for guessing who he assumed the pillows to be but would never accept it!😉]
