Custody reviews and the Bhalla kids

Last night was an interesting episode to say the least.
The Bhallas once again are indebted to Ishita for saving them in the nick of the time, yes she loves Ruhi and Ishita did what she did last night out of that love that she has as a mother for her child, but it doesn't diminish the effort it must have taken her to stand in the very home where not a few hours ago she was labeled as a characterless woman, who was trying to seduce her BIL.

Now I have no idea of the Indian judiciary when it comes to cases like these but it was good to know such a thing as a custody review exists for the sake of the child involved.

Shagun might have got downright jealous when the neighbors especially Pummy aunty were all praise for Ishita as a mom and wife and for IshRa as a couple but it was Ruhi that truly ripped her apart.

The women who favored the couple know the story of Raman and Shagun even better then Ishita - since they have been neighbors for ages and have seen what she did to a loving man and his family, especially that little baby she abandoned. They have also seen the positive change Ishita has brought about in the lives of the lonely father-daughter duo especially Pummy who is also Toshi' BFF. It was interesting to see her repay Ishita' favor and reprimand Raman at the same time which def got Perv breaking into a cold sweat - with Raman' admission where he stated he would never leave Ishita.

But definitely the highest verdict was of Ruhi' - it was so endearing and amazing to see this child run towards her Ishimaa the moment she spotted the judge and then sweetly admit she is happy that the lady chose the best mom for her - Shagun couldn't have had a worse comeback - to hear her own daughter admit she doesnt want to stay with her and prefers another woman over her is the greatest insult to any mother and it showed.

But what incited me to make this post is another Bhalla progeny - yes the dreaded and mostly loathed brat from hell - Aditya, I wonder how is it that Adi, whose custody trial was held ages ago hasn't been reviewed yet and if he has been then how are Ashok and Shagun still in charge of his custody - yes I know Raman was framed and made out to be an abusive father - but Adi has lived almost all the years post his departure from the Bhalla house in a hostel, only recently did he shift in with Shagun and Ashok.

For a kid who was claimed to be emotionally and physically abused - how did the court accept Shagun' decision to keep him in a hostel for so long? We also know ShaShok arent married which while in the west is no big thing but in India is still frowned upon.

Will this lady judge who is seeing Ashok and now Shagun as well as manipulative scheming people take matters into her hands and get Adi' case reopened too by somehow letting Raman know he can do that - file a counter suit for the custody of that brat.

Now while I know majority of us hate the kid - I am no fan of his either - but it would be something alright if Shagun and Ashok lose the one arrow in their quiver, the only ammo in their arsenal they can rely upon to hurt and humiliate Raman at all and any times.

Also the kid bad as he is - is at the end of it a kid, and he is living in a poisonous environment with the likes of Shagun and Ashok, Ruhi has become the medium which brought IshRa together but their relationship even that of Ishita with the Bhallas esp that no good MIL of hers Toshi can change drastically should this ever happen - because in true Balaji style - it would be Ishita who would reform the brat, make father son close and get him to mend his ways.

And if Adi truly has a change of heart and begins to find a loving mother in Ishita who he actually looks up to, Toshi would be unable to rue the loss of a waaris for her Raman as well. And may be just understand the simple fact - that while Ishita may be unable to conceive she is the woman who finally made her son' life and family complete - which Shagun the biological mother of his kids couldn't and didn't - rather she did every possible thing to ruin Raman, while on the other hand the woman - Ishita - whom she has insulted and humiliated at every possible moment given a chance is the best possible bahu, wife and mother this family could have found.

While I have always maintained and always will Raman needs to respect Ishita - this extends to his family particularly his mother now more then ever - they have found a woman who selflessly married the son of this family - a man who she for all reasons and purposes hated and disliked for the innocent child, the least they can do is respect her as per me.

In Adi's case, I would believe that the judge will not emphasize on reviews because he is with his biological mom as per his wish. Whereas Ruhi is not. But if Raman would appeal again citing the reason that Adi has been in the hostel and would want to review the case, that maybe accepted. Again, Adi's wish will count here majorly. Like how Ruhi chose Ishima, he will choose Shagun without even a trial. Raman will have to win his kid and clear the misconceptions he has with his father, get his consent to be with him and then file for a review - That may work.

I have no expert knowledge on this. Ishra24 is a lawyer, can you please clarify this Ishra24?

Isha while I agree Adi' custody was granted to Shagun at the time as per his wish, but as we already have seen the wish of the child has to be absolutely uninfluenced by any factor whatsoever - they cannot be coerced/threatened/manipulated - Ashok tried the same with Ruhi, but that fell flat on his face because 1 - Ruhi had already spoken she wishes to be with Ishita over her own biological parents and 2 - the lady judge presiding over this case kept that into account and was perceptive enough to pick Ruhi was under duress when she spoke Shagun' name during the trail, which made her smartly confide Ruhi' fears in her chamber privately..

Now at the time of Adi' case there might have been a different judge plus with no Ishita in the picture - his obvious choices lay between his mom and dad - and Adi was always shown to be influenced pretty easily by the means of toys and stuff - so that as per me is influencing the child not to mention the fact - the custody was allotted to Shagun moreover because Raman was considered as an abusive father - but if the case is reopened and Raman can prove that Adi had an accident, plus Ashok and Shagun' records - of coercing Ruhi during the trail and now attempting to mislead the law would stand against them I believe.

This I think can allow the verdict to be reversed.

Again I am no lawyer, so it would be great if Ishra24 could help us here with the technicalities as a lawyer 😳

thanks Shalu and I think sooner or later Ishita would influence Adi... with both the siblings in the same school their paths are bound to cross time and again.

Thanks AS

Yep if somehow Adi ends up living with IshRa he may not like it but he would draw parallels between Ishita and Shagun much like Raman - who slowly and steadily is warming upto Ishita, he sees what an amazing wife and mom she is as as well as a good DIL to his parents.

Adi may find things jarring for a while but at the end of it, he is a child who I think craves love more than anything and being with his father - his step-mom would do the kid a world of good, it wont be easy but it will reflect how a woman can be a mother without giving birth too.

As for Ishita getting pregnant, I am expecting a Balaji twist alright, she may be pregnant by some medical miracle or it may be revealed her infertility issues - this whole thing was a sham, a huge hoax that Subu' mom played to get Ishita out of her son' life for good.

Res... Edited...

Aani... lovely post as always 😊. I must say that this serial is so multi-dimensional. On the one hand we are going ga-ga over the newly forming Ishra romance. On the other, the script and characters are enabling us to have serious discussions like this. All in the same episode. And I have said this a few thousand times before, but this forum is such a sanctuary for so many different kinds of fans! 👏

About the first para you wrote. The part I felt so squeamish about is not that Ishita entered the Bhalla house, but that the Perv was standing there. I CANNOT imagine being in the same room as the perpetrator of such a horrible crime, when one is the victim.

What stood out (with regards to Shagun) in the episode for me where her 2 looks. The first look of love when she sees Ruhi, and then the shame on her face when Ruhi chose Ishima over her, once more. I also liked how they showed that Ishita asked Ruhi to say hello to her mother. We all know that it was not for the benefit of the judge, its just the right upbringing she wants for Ruhi.

Upbringing - that word leads me to Adi naturally...

Shagun got custody of Adi because it was established that Raman had physically abused him, Adi himself had testified. And so the court granted custody to the biological mother. In such cases, I dont know if a review is warranted. According to the courts, Adi is where is belongs, in a safe haven. And they also had a restraining order against Raman, so there's no way he could do anything about it either. In his own way, I think he was trying to get Adi back (emotionally) when Adi moved back from the hostel. The only way the court decision would be reversed is if it was proved beyond doubt that Adi had lied about the abuse. I don't see that happening any time soon. Not that a child would suddenly remember what was true and what wasn't any way. Not after so many years. But this could happen in Balaji land, no doubt, with Ishita's positive influence. (I dont think, it really matters that he was in a hostel for so long, or they used him in manipulating Raman.)

I personally believe that character traits come from the genes, but our actions are influenced by the surroundings and upbringing. That's where I stand on the nature versus nurture debate.

My memory of the Adi flashback scene is vague, so please correct me if I am wrong: Adi had already had traits of deceit (he cheated in an exam), from Shagun I suppose 😉 That was the turning point in the boy's life. If Shagun had handled it properly, Adi wouldn't have turned out to be like this. I dont think he even lied in court. He was coaxed by his mother to blame his father, and the kid was already mad at Raman because he'd scolded him. And then, the Ashok-Shagun duo practically coddled, bribed, influenced the kid. All because he was at the right age. Its exactly what is happening to Ruhi right now, only the parents and surroundings are different, so the outcome will be different.

I was looking for quotes over the internet (I am not as well-read as you, so I cannot 'remember' quotes😆 Google is my saviour ) and found this...

"While each child is born with his or her own distinct genetic potential for physical, social, emotional and cognitive development, the possibilities for reaching that potential remain tied to early life experiences and the parent-child relationship within the family" - Bernice Weissbourd

That's all... Seriously, I have spent an hour in the office, and I haven't even earned my pay for even half that time today 🤣.

When I reply to your posts, I sometimes forget that I am replying and think I am writing a post of my own. Thanks for continuously triggering the right reactions of my brain cells 🤗
