Its good to see Karan being considered for the role though i understand that KVB was selected for the role. As for bashing, i remember that even VD was bashed when they first selected him opposite DD especially because DD's pairing with Gurmeet in Geet was popular and they could not see VD opposite DD. I also remember seeing criticisms like VD can't act and etc but he was eventually accepted and lived the role of RK. So if Karan gets accepted, he shall also prove his acting.

If they have already selected another actor then strange that they took look test of karan and other actors we will know tomorrow who is the new male lead
