Hey very well sung.

I honestly LOVED listening to the immense talent that this forum posses. Everyone single person who took part in this fun competition has extraordinary talent that they should be proud of. All of us could use improvement. None of us are perfect. Yes even I felt that some scores were lower than I expected, but I'm taking it all in good stride and taking the comments positively to improve upon my singing. Anyone who knows me well enough know how much I want to be shining of the SRGMP stage. I've tried two times and failed both times, but hey I'm never giving up. And I'll prove to the world I can do it because the most important thing is believing in yourself more than anything else. I take constructive criticism in positive stride and use it to improve upon myself. I have loads of videos uploaded on youtube and I don't always get the positive, encouraging comments. I get some hurtful comments as well. People who don't like my voice one bit. But I've learned to never have those comments let me down and give up my talent. This competition was all for the fun of it. And as most people already mentioned if you submitted a song you're miles ahead of those that didn't. With practice all 14 members can do wonders with their God gifted talent. Don't ever be discouraged at what people say to you! Believe in yourself and you'll really do wonders!

Also, not trying to pull off a JKN and be cocky about my singing. 😆 But yes, I do agree that I am egoistic, and will stay that way😛

Anyways, I completely digressed from the topic. 😆 Speaking of 'pity votes', Monica, Pimp di and Tulip Di, you guys are too sweet, but please don't raise my scores just because I felt bad. Once again, I did not ask for more points and never intended to do so. So, Pimp di, I remember you had given me a 7 or a 7.5, not sure about the others😆 Whatever maybe the case, please change it back to the original score. Thanks😊

Oh Debu I'm really sorry that my rating hurt you! Here are a few points which should hopefully make you feel better:

1. You had tough competition. You, a young boy, were singing alongside people who have had experience in vocal music for very long, maybe longer than you have even lived! You may have practised for a couple of weeks for the song but the person who got 10/10 from me has, I'm sure, a good few years of riyaaz under her belt.

If we did a survey of the singing abilities of the public at large, you would definitely be above average and your performance would get 6 or 7 from me. But the participants of this contest are all already above average: they all have something special in their singing. Just learn from your seniors (and juniors, for that matter) in this contest and don't be disheartened.

2. You took a risk. The people who scored the best from me were those who performed a genre that suited their voice/style. So we had a Kannada bhajan by a trained carnatic singer, a Punjabi folk/qawalli by someone training in that style, and Kuch Kum by someone who has a young, urban voice and style.

You, on the other hand, chose one of Rafi saab's wackiest songs. Not only are his songs extremely difficult anyway, but this particular song had the added difficulty of requiring a LOT of expression and clowniness. You made it very difficult for yourself to make an impact. Although I fully respect your desire to try something new and challenge yourself, you kind of started off on the back foot because of your song choice whilst those who scored highly put their best foot forward. If you'd put your best food forward, you could have got a higer rating from me.

3. You have potential. You have a good voice and a musical ear, but you're still a student. You have a long way to go. When you improve a lot more, you will look back on this recording and realise that this was in no way a true representation of your talent/potential. I say this from personal experience: whenever I learn more, I look back at my old self and think 'OMG my standard was so low before - I could have done much better'.

Remember, music is a vast and sacred subject to which many people dedicate their whole lives and STILL don't feel like they've done enough. So you shouldn't feel at all discouraged if after dipping your toe into the ocean you floundered a bit.

And lastly, I think I owe you an explanation for the 3/10. I gave you a bare score when I guess you would have liked an explanatory comment too (but the rules of the thread were that no 'negative' comments were allowed so I just kept shut). So here's my comment:

"A great song choice, but a very difficult one to execute. There are many elements at play in this song and it might have been worth considering a simpler song (like contestant no. 14's Pal Pal Pal). The song sounded rushed because, firstly, you did sing very fast and, secondly, you didn't emote much: it sounded more as if you were trying to get through the words quickly without meaning any of what you were saying. The difficult tune was not carried properly which meant that the song's jumpy melody sounded slightly flat. You sang the wrong lyrics in the chorus. Overall the song failed to deliver an impact and I, the listener, had to work to enjoy the performance. Three points for singing a difficult tune adequately."

OK I have an essay to get back to but I had to say all that so you don't feel too bad.
