CHAPTER 7: CONFUSIONS

Anika- how strange aunty, durga itni strong thi how could she break down like this? Ek aurat ke liye jaruri nahi hain ki uski musibaton ka hal shaadi ho. Who toh barbaadi bhi ho sakti hain na.

Rajjo- tab ka zamaana aur tha ani. Aur kitni bhi strong ho, thi toh wo ek aurat hi na...

Anika- so iska matlab, durg ne apne chote bhai beheno ko settle karwaya. And being a brilliant one and a dedicated worker unki promotion hoti gayi aur gharwalo ko muft ki roti.

Rajjo- haan, yahi hua, benoy shampa aur deb ki shaadi ho gayi. Teeno settle ho gaye.

Jai- aur durga?

Rajjo- woh toh machine ki tarah sabke peeche khapti gayi. Iss baat ka ilm bhi na hua kisi ko ki charu ki beti ke liye rishte aane shuiru ho gaye the.

Anika- kya age thi uski?

Rajjo- 17. Yahi umar hoti thi shaadi ki. Durga ho chali 32 ki. 1956 ki baat hai yeh. Mera janam hua tha tab.

Anika- toh yeh kahaani?

Rajjo- puri sun ni hai na?

Anika- haan aur kaun tha wo? Raja? Uska kya hua?

Rajjo- factory ki tarakki hoti rahi. Benoy aur deb ne bhi haath batana shuru kiya tha. Biwi ka bhi saath tha. 1958 me antim saasein li.

Anika- aur bacche?

Rajjo- he had 2 children- a boy and a girl. Beti toh 2 saal kit hi jab unka dehaant ho gaya.

Anika- that's sad.

Jai- I think hum durga ki story likh rahe hain. Uska kya hua phir?

*Flashback starts*

It was one of the rainy days of Kolkata 1956.

Durga bhaari varsha ke kaaran daftar me hi fasi rahi.

Durga- aisa kab tak chalega? Mujhe nikalna hi hoga bahot der ho chuki hain dada.

Dada- sambhaalke jana didi. Aur ek phone kar dena pahuch kar.

Durga- ji shubh ratri dada.

Durga goes out. The street was flooded with water. After some time she feels as if someone was following her. She turned around to find anmol stalking her.

Durga- itne saal ho gaye. Kab peecha chodenge aap mera?

Anmol- baat toh sunn le meri.

Durga's umbrella falls down and gets away with the water. Anmol offers his umbrella which durga refuses.

Durga- rickshaw, bhaiyya chalenge?

Durga boards the auto and is about to leave when anmol shouts

Anmol- aami tomake bhaalobaashi, durga.

The auto in the front stops. Durga comes out and approaches anmol.

Anmol feels durga had felt his love and hence came back.

Further anticipating the moment he closed his eyes and *WHAM*

There was thundering. Lightening had struck. People were stunned at the show.

Durga- ki holo? (what happened) Picture chal rahi hai koi jo aap sab yaha khade. Jaaiye ghar jaaiye barish bahot ho rahi hain.

At home

Durga- maa adrak ka kaadha dena jara. Lagta hain jukaam hone wala hain. Ek din ki chhutti ka jokhim bhi nahi utha sakti main

She is reminded of the day's incidents and also the time she had spent with anmol.

Durga- haan didi, wahi jisne paise udhaar diye the factory ke liye. Aj zara jyada ho gaya, thappad hi maar diya maine.

Charu- kya bachpana hai yeh durga.

Durga- toh aur kya karti? Aisi chichori harkat ke baad kya aarti utaarti uski?

Charu- jo bhi hain. Par zaahir hain agar usne yeh baat chedi hain, shaadi toh karna chahta hoga tumse. Aur yeh mat bhulo ki usne tab madad ki hain jab koi humare haal bhi nahi puchta tha.

The phone call ends.

Durga

Sirf anmol hi kya didi main bhi usse... Aj se nahi balki tab se jab se wo mujhe chori chupe dekhta tha. Mere har masle ko hal karne aa jata tha. Maine uss durga ko bahot peeche chod diya hain jo kabhi apna ghar basana chahti thi khush hona chahti thi. Meri kamaayi se hi yeh ghar chalta hain. Factory ka itna bhi paisa nahi aata ki sab do waqt ka pet bhar ke kha sake. Kamaane wale kam khaane wale jyada. Maa ki toh umar bhi nahi ki unse kaam karaya jaye. Behtar yahi hain ki main aisi hi rahoon kyunki aisa koi sasural nahi hoga jo mujhe meri aadhi tankhwa mere maayke dene dega.

*Flashback ends*

Jai- matlab durga ke mann me bhi ghanti baj hi gayi.

Anika- chalo itni tragedy ke baad happy ending toh banti hain.

Rajjo- really?

Nani's place

Anika(on phone)- mumma main yaha picnic ke liye nahi aayi hoon. Bas kuch 2 din ka kaam hain. Who ho jaane ke baad Mumbai.

Nani- sunn, ye tere aur jai ke beech koi chakkar toh nahi?

Anika- what chakkar?

Nani- jab jawaani sar chad ke bole aur bhangra karne lage toh baton ko sanjeedgi se lena chahiye.

Anika- jai ne kuch kaha hain aapse?

Nani- woh chirkoot kya bolega. Who toh maine hi.

Anika- aap yeh bekaar ke andaaze lagana chod de nani. Main khud confused hoon hum dono ke beech kya hain.

Nani- huh??

Anika- forget it.

Was the whole Durga-Bindiya part narrated to Anika and why does this flashback appear the moment Jai leaves...???

as usual. great update dear but I am really confused about Durga and her sad status. Yes, despite having an yearning heart. she had to keep it in a sealed cover that even her loved one was not allowed to see that. Poor girl or rather poor Anmol. Hope he doesn't leave her on her own to rot. Why do I feel this Rajjo is Charu's daughter???????
