Not all poetry is or can be about love and romance. There are other other questions, for instance, our relationship with the universe.

QUESTION

To what end this mortal coil?

This spark of three score and ten

in an eternity of darkness.

Each human act insignificant

against a pattern that is the universe.

Each death a return to the source,

that primeval source of energy.

The universe questions its origins.

Man is its eyes, ears and intelligence.

The stars are oblivious of the question,

yet man regards their motion with worldly significance.

Can such lifeless stardust be

our humble and godless beginning?

The universe has all eternity to wait.

There is time enough for an answer.

It is very positive perspective to live if we look from the mirror of universe... it has lots to say us and give us... nice one great one and keep it up. God bless you.

Here's a thought: A star had to die so that life on this earth could develop. (All the heavier elements that make up our bodies were formed in old stars and supernova explsions!)

Thanks for your words of encouragement. 😊

interesting perspective and very reflective.
certainly it can be argued through death comes life.
that from something inanimate, cold and distant creates some thing like man.
but then you wonder when you see the dark side of humanity whether that was worth it.

Yes the baser animal nature of humans is cause for thought. Those who believe in one or more deities have never yet been able to satisfactorily explain why there is 'evil' in the word, imo. But even putting that aside, the fundamental question for many people is whether we ought to regard our human species as more of an evolved 'ape' or fallen angel. I think that might have a bearing on your remark about the dark side of humans.

tough call when you ask about evolved ape or fallen angel. I believe there is something different about us that sets us apart from the rest of the evolutionary tree. Our progress in technology, arts, literature - even in the relatively short amount of time we have been around we have achieved a lot. There is surely mystery in that which makes you look up in the sky and wonder whether there is something greater than us. I know it's an argument that pro creation uses but it is something I also think at times.
