I don't know why she needs to be strict with her. From past 10 yr she is requesting her mother to make her girl for a day..She is your daughter not son ! She has some feeling and it's really hard that not for a day she is getting freedom.

Amba will get worried that if anyone will see mannu as preet than Earthquake will happen !everything will get to an end...she is hard and tough towards mannu...because she doesn't want that mannu become weak or change her feelings etc etc...and behave like a girl...and moreover after simmi's death lots of arguments took place between them...So she is becoming more and more strict or harsh!
