Shon (I added an "a" like we do in Ram--> Rama, Buddh--> Buddha etc.) is actually a charcater in novel Mritunjay written on Karna from Mahabharat. He there is the biological son of Adhirath and Radha (Karna's foster parents) and is younger to Karna. This character was introduced in Mritunjay novel, but now people generally believe that this has been mentioned in Mahabharat/Puranas though there isn't even a folklore mentioning him. I have come across 8 brother of Karna and none of them are named even similar to Shon.

Yes these books are the reason why suddenly Karna became such a mahaan aatma, other is the poem Rashmirathi by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar) today you can say against Krishna but not against Karna..

Earlier too there were books written from perspective of Villians. Bhasa from 3rd century had written multiple such plays (He was a great playwriter, Kalidasa calls him his ideal)-- Karnabharam on Karna, Urubhangam on Duryodhan, he wrote on Ravan too, but he never overglorified these characters, he just highlighted their Point of views and what they might have thought, today's writers just remove everything wrong and makes Karna a flawless person surrounded in circumstances

Me too. Always felt those were from some old sources. Actually I have read Mritunhay only a bit, its still there in my bookshelf but overload of Karna mahaanta made me irritated, so left it halfway

So I always used to believe that the supposed Karna Vrushali Supriya stories are some famous folkores (even then I knew its not in Mahabharat of any ancient retelling), later I got to know that all these were made by Shivaji Sawant in Mritunjay, I felt so cheated I can not tell you.

He also introduced a foster brother of Karna named Shon (Karna had many foster brothers, one died in Virat war, 3 were killed by Abhimanyu on Chakravyu day etc.), but none of them were named Shona, however if you today ask if Karna had a foster brother, you will get only one name Shon.

Wondering what these retellings do to us completely changing the narrative. My husband's cousin recently told me that he has read Karna's wife and took it as real account, and was citing instances from it....

Anyway we can continue this discussion in General Discussion Thread else people might get confused on unrelated topic. I just replied here because I wanted you to get a notification and am unable to tag you into new posts for some reason

Yes yes i also heard abt Shon but i think they didnt shown him in SP MB.. he was in SPK though.. now i m also feeling cheated since i started reading MB🙂

I also read the book Karna's wife nd if the person who dont knw abt MB nd read it will definitely come Karna's bhaktsmiley36

These ppl write such stuff to assume what if this happened nd not this nd some ppl find it true🤔 its not like anything will change from all this but they still write such stuff nd publish it making ppl confuse nd believe in whats false.
