Episode 2

The Wedding Hall

Saravannan approaches the wedding hall, he stares at the wedding board, V. Gautham weds M. Poongodi.

He slowly walks towards the board and touches the letter P. He moves his hand slowly to the right stopping at the letter I in Poongodi.

Saravannan recalls Poongodi saying I love you Saravavannan

March 2012 (flashback)

Saravannan enters Vani's mansion

Poongodi is sitting on the sofa

Saravannan: Surprised to see you here, what brought you?

Poongodi: I came to see you

Saravannan: You like me that much, huh? (Laughs)

Poongodi: More than that

Saravannan: Meaning?

Poongodi: Are you pretending you don't understand me or are you really this dumb?

Saravannan: I'm not acting

Poongodi: Fine, I'll say it directly

Saravannan remains puzzled

Poongodi: I love you Saravannan, I love you, I love you, and I love you

Saravannan stares at Poongodi speechless

Saravannan: I don't know what to say to that.

Poongodi: The truth, I can handle anything

Saravannan: Well, I certainly don't want to lie in a situation like this.

Poongodi: Go on

Saravannan: I'll be honest, in one sentence all I can say is that I don't have that (after a pause) thing with you.

Poongodi stares at Saravannan but says nothing to prompt him to continue

Saravannan: But I'm so glad that you told me your feelings sooner rather than later. I find it painful to say this but I don't want to lie to you. I respect you as a friend and as a friend only. Why ruin this lovely friendship with a false love?

Poongodi: My love for you is true

Saravannan: True love requires both parties to share the same feelings. I feel bad that you have such feelings towards me because I just don't have that with you.

Poongodi turns around and starts to walk away

Saravannan: Poongodi!

Poongodi stops

Saravannan: You're leaving without saying anything?

Poongodi: You have conveyed your views. I need some time to overcome this.

Saravannan: I was just being honest. My intention was not to break your heart.

Poongodi: Don't worry; I won't take any stupid decision. I know how to live my life with or without anyone else.

Poongodi walks off

Saravannan stands there worried

Saravannan recalls himself saying to Poongodi that "As long as these remain here we will always be together".

September 2012 (flashback)

Saravannan and Poongodi are travelling on a bike

Poongodi has her arms wrapped tightly around Saravannan

Poongodi: Where are you taking me? (Laughs)

Saravannan: It's a surprise.

Poongodi: Oh (excited) I'll wait

Saravannan and Poongodi come to a beach

Poongodi: Wow, it seems like just yesterday that I was telling someone that I want to go to the beach.

Saravannan smiles

Poongodi: So, how did you know?

Saravanan: True love (laughs), whatever you're thinking of, I know it too. Not only do we share the same feelings we also share the same thoughts.

Poongodi: I don't really care how you got to know this. This is an unexpected and lovely surprise. I'm staying positive and enjoying every second of my life.

Saravannan and Poongodi skip to the beach

Poongodi and Saravannan sit on the sandy beach, feeling the cool breeze and enjoying the beautiful glowing sun setting in the orange sky.

Poongodi: It's so beautiful. It's so romantic

Saravannan: I've got something that we should both do now, something that hopefully makes it to the top of your romance list.

Saravannan urges Poongodi to get up and he drags her to the edge of the beach.

There, he creates, using empty sea shells, a mark on the sand that reads Sara (heart shape) Poo.

Poongodi quickly follows him and makes her own art - Poo (heart shape) Sara

Saravannan smiles

Saravannan: As long as these brittle things stay like this, our love will remain true. As long as nature cannot overcome these seashells, no-one will or can overcome our love. There are many obstacles we have to face for our love to succeed.

Poongodi: (smiles) And we will overcome everything with our heads held high and our hands held tightly together.

The two shell patterns rested there in harmony until they were torn apart by a greater force, time unknown

Present time

Saravannan is broken out of his reverie by the sound of the Ayyar saying "Kettimelam Kettimelam"

Saravannan rushes to the door

Saravannan stops at the entrance

Shenba touches Poongodi's shoulders

Poongodi looks up

Poongodi is totally taken back by Saravannan's presence but her smile persists.
