My review

This is why I like Vani Rani. We all were carried away by the exciting thought of Swamy, Gautham and Surya that we completely pushed Bhoomi out of our minds, thinking that the focus is on the three musketeers. Today's segment was refreshing simply because the team focused on the unexpected - Bhoomi's loneliness. Waking up to an empty and lonely house, answering phone calls for his wife and sons, walking around in a restless manner, feeling lost in his own kitchen, calling friends who are too busy to meet up with him. It must have been an awful situation for him, since he has always been rushing around and being as busy as 10 ants. To be at a loose end, running out of ideas of what to do was something new to him. This is a nice touch by VR team. And I like the fact that he goes to Rani's hotel and offer his services. Hopefully Rani will accept him and there will be a bonding between Bhoomi and Rani. What a nice development that would be, a marked change from the Bhoomi who always treated Rani like a maid, with authority at best and disrespect at worst. And what can I say about Venu Arvind? The audience could relate to him as he wanders around the house like a cat on a hot tin roof. It is not easy to do that as I do not see that kind of acting in other serials - and yes, I do watch other serials since I have no choice - both two televisions in the house are on SunTV. We had three - thank God one had collapsed. My room in between the three rooms that had the TVs, so can you imagine - I used to get "Nee nasama pove, manoodu pove" in the 3D version of Dolby Audio!! 🤢

Poongodi and Karthik scene in the hospital was touching. Interesting and amusing dialogues between the two. Everyone says that this is a rip off of HDCS but then again, I am not too particularly bothered. I just want to see where this story goes. With the introduction of the police wanting Karthik to stay on to identify that scrawny really not fearsome looking taxi driver, perhaps there is a twist somewhere. As my favourite director is fond of telling me "Wait n c". 😆

Gautham - our Angry Bird in Pink - poor guy, tough chap with a soft heart. He is in a quandary now - he could see his family in a bittersweet situation - happy that Saravanan is safe but missing him something chronic. Radikaa as usual was brilliant in her emoting - I wonder what she was blabbering about? Would we see this on Bloopers? 😆 Again Gautham proves that he is Vani's son - tears glistening in his eyes just like Vani. I think we all know what he is going to do. People will say this is predictable. I say that this just shows how closely knit this family is, how much love they have for each other. Vicky Krish was good - at last he was able to show his emotional side, instead of the kuttuvan, vettuvan character that we know and love. Oh, and I dont know about you guys, but it was good to see Thenu again and listen to her chatter. really refreshing after the seriousness of the dialogues by the adults.

I agree with people who think that Selvi is annoying. What business is it of hers for her to pester Shiva to get married? If Shiva says no then she should accept his wishes. Grrr...and I am frankly fed up of Shiva and his mind voice dialogues. Feel like taking a huge boulder and dropping on his face.

Episode 460

1. New character. Pretty sure that the so called morai ponnu is a setup by the evil Shiva. The story getting a bit tedious. I hope they conclude the story soon. I am sure that Jai Ram is a great person but I do think he is prone to over-acting. Once again stupid Selvi has done something predictable...and idiotic. And they call Thulasi dumb? Watch the saga unfold. 😛

2. The arrogant Kathir hasn't learnt his lesson. 😡He knows his niece is against his violent ways and yet he is hell-bent continuing his vendetta against Vani. I gasped in'disbelief when he asked whether he had committed any theft, murder? Oh dear Mr. Kathir, this mahaan act is so unconvincing that even Pooja's upper lip curled in disbelief. Another story that is on its last legs and should be concluded as well. I am beginning to warm up to Andrew Jesudass as Kathir although I find his bushy beard very distracting. 😆 (What is it with VR and their obsession with facial foliages? Oruthan vitta onnuruthan) But seriously, a closure for this plot please. I just thought of something. Maybe Kathir will be the cause of Saravanan returning to Chennai. It would be lovely to see both the families together again. 😃

Navya as Pooja was quietly dignified. Loved her little signs of contempt and disbelief as her uncle was spouting his unconvincing spiel of remorse and guilt. I think she has a lot of potential. I quite liked her in the beginning and then was put off as I thought she was 0TT at times but now she is growing on me again.

3. But the highlight of the episode for me was the segment involving Karthik and Poongodi. Poonkar was excellent today. ❤️ Karthik looked so cute when he was glaring at Poongodi. Handsome fella! Poongodi was gorgeous in the pink saree. The glint in her eye and the cheeky smile is an indication of the old Poongodi. Welcome back sweetie!!!! Play "Nila Kaiyuthu" or "En Chella Peyar Apple". Paiyen kavanthuruvan le!! 😳 😆 Very eager to see this- Poongodi On A Mission!

Things to look forward to: Poonkar and their relationship. Cho chweet. Kathir being taken down a peg or two by Vani AND Pooja. Shiva getting his arse kicked and possibly eradicated.

Episode 459

I was too exhausted last night to write my reviews. As much as I love Vani Rani, I love my bed slightly more. 😆 I found my eyes drooping during the segment where Rani is talking to her father...and I discovered something interesting. Athough my eyes were closed, I could see Rani in my mind. Her facial expressions, her mannerisms as she spoke, her gesticulations. Try this "experiment" and see whether you have the same experience. I think it is an acknowledgement of Radikaa's prowess as an actress that has grown in leaps and bounds.

Well,finally we see a mature albeit sad Pooja. She has made a painful but realistic decision. There is an old saying which goes: " If you love something, let it go. lt it is yours, it will come back to you. If it doesn't, it was never yours". Best thing for Pooja to do right now is to let Gautham go.Somehow I feel he will come looking for her!! Navya (Pooja's real name) gave a rather impressive performance as a sad but resigned Pooja. Which sort of makes me happy as I don't like women chasing men. Not cool.

What an interesting conversation that between Rani and her father. I did not know that Vani had done so much for Mano and Jyofhi. I am not too happy that Rani should forget the way Jothi and her mother humiliated her when she went to invite them for Thenu's sadangu. Sometimes Rani's goodness irritates me.

For the first time I noticed Jyo's acting.The actress did a good job with her facial expressions. I found it strange that Anaconda Paati should forget it was Jyo who threw Bhoomi out but Jyo herself brings it up in Vani's house later.

Both women were so fake that I laughed. Kudos to the director for making them live in their characters.I don't understand why they don't like Rani. Anyway, knew that Vani would have seen through their act. Last scene was funny. Vani has the ability to see through people.

No complaints today except no Poongodi and Karthik. Dialogues were scintillating. Acting by everyone was excellent. The looks exchanged between mother and daughter as Manikam was talking were telling. Director should give same attention to other characters in the background e.g. Mrs.Kathir and Mrs. Karuppu. Talking of which, I wonder what devious and cockermanie plan Kathir is cooking up now.

My review

We Vani Rani fans are a bunch of clever clogs. We got it right when we guessed that Geetha was fixed by Shiva. (Apparently she is an established serial actress..she looks familiar) He obviously knew what a gullible fool Selvi is! Rajesh is definitely the smarter of the two. Secondly, if your friend does not like someone, would you take that person in? Rajesh was right - but does Selvi listen?? No, she wants to show what a kind person she is. Selvi needs her head examined! 🤪She should stop acting so bossy and listen to Rajesh for once.

ARUMUGAM!!! I never thought I'd say this but he was abreath of fresh air. His cheerfulness, shamelessness and unabashed cheekiness made smile. I had to laugh when he made the pali clicking sound as the fraud Geetha Was giving her sob story. Well done Murali Knsh for his impeccable comedic timing. I am hoping that he would mess up Geetha's evil plans - doesnt matter how he does it, as long as he does it. Isnt't it strange that the main reason why he is there is Malathi, and yet we don't see much of her at all? Except when there is housework to be done. 😆

Ranima, super!! Great advice to the beggar! Loved your logic and your reasons for telling the green monster off. But again you showed where Selvi got her "dumbness" from.You just don't ask spongers to come for freebies. I suspect, like Thenu, that it is going to backfire on her.Judging by the promo, he is going to bring his fellow beggars and Thenu will chase them away. Seems to me that Selvi has inherited her mother'-s intelligence whereasThenu has inherited her Periamma's . 😆

Ok, Alcohol does not solve any problems.-...but it sure makes them look easier! LOL. Just a joke.😉 Nice delivery of dialogues by Mrs. Karuppu though I do think her emoting could be better. But poor Pooja.I do feel bad for her.She is caught between a rock and hard place. She has every right to be angry and hurt, not because of Gautham,but because of her beloved Periappa who she adored. It is not fair for her mum to make her feel guilty. I am quite curious to see what she is going to do next. Pooja, not her Mum.

Enjoyed 6Face's and Ranima's antics today. Waiting for someone to wipe off that smug smirk off Shiva's face. That day can't come too soon.

No Poonkar scenes today. (Or should it be Karpoon (what do you think, MakkaIs?)

"THE REUNION"

Sometimes Life does not go the way we want.. It actually becomes better! But we do not realise it until it is too late. Not Poongodi though. Luckily, she realised in time and she fought for a man who loved her unconditionally and put her happiness over and above his own. To harbour feelings for a man after she married another, to insist that she wants a divorce even before the marriage formalities were completed are things no decent, self-respecting woman would do. But Poongodi did those and much more. Up to that point I disliked Poongodi. She was a feisty independent young woman and to say that her decision to marry Karthik was influenced by two useless men, her father and Saravanan, was simply incomprehensible. She should have grabbed the chance that Vani gave her and said "Damn you world, this is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with" but she did'nt. Paradoxically, I am glad she didnt.

Episode 509 was a culmination of the rollercoaster ride that was Sara-Poo-Karthik triangle. And what a culmination it was. Perhaps it was predictable to some, but not to me. Pulsating, exciting...the adrenalin was pumping. Her unexpected move of holding a knife to her neck, the looks of horror and fear and relief on Karthik's face, the throbbing Kolkata Theme, the way she walks off without a glance back whether her husband is following or not, the quiet confidence simmering in her as she realised that Karthik still loves her - women do have instincts about this - were just like pieces of jigsaw falling into place. Everything about this segment was so right. The emotions, the dialogues, the music, the facial expressions - even Jyothi silently weeping - she may be a villi but at the end of the day, it is the happiness of her daughter that is paramount and she showed this when she stood up to her mother.

The final scene was just the icing on the cake. ❤️The looks of happiness on both their faces were worth waiting for. ❤️ Poongodi's Theme!!!How I love it. ❤️ It is just awesome. What a fitting touch to such an emotional scene. I cried...and I watched it again...and again...and again.

Finally, a few words about the acting skills of the young pair. Maha deserves that award and many more. I have said this so many times and I will say it again. Vani Rani has exploited her immense talent that is within her - we hardly saw much of it in the other serials. She says so much through her eyes, which is far more effective than any reeling of long dialogues. And how effective was she in conveying the feelings of Poongodi - I especially loved her when she was going through her confused, angst stage. She portrayed a tortured soul torn apart by conflicting feelings of love and loyalty in such a realistic manner...the image of her closing her eyes in resignation as Karthik ties the thali around her neck is still vivid in my mind. Kudos to ONR and RC for exploiting her talents. Rathnam in particular should be complimented in recognising Maha's hidden talents and drawing them out.

Rajkumar..how brilliant was he in this episode. My God, young man, you shone, especially in those few minutes when Poongodi holds the knife to her neck. Eyes widened in fear, shimmering with tears. The stupefied look, that showed shock and fear again...class act!! Worrth praise over and over again. Just mindblowing yaar. And the final scene in Mano's house, where Karthik realises that Poongodi is sincere...awesome, man!

Pair of the year: Karthik and Poongodi.

A rocking episode. A mindblowing episode. Thank you Vani Rani team.

P/S: I did not mention anything about Rani- Selvi-Rajesh segment. For once it was insignificant.

Go Thenu, go Thenu, go Thenu...don't give up. 👏 Loved your dialogues to Anaconda. You should have given back to the witches especially Pimple more. I loved it. You said what we wanted to say. Serves that Sakuni right. You have more guts than Surya - idiot, what a pondatti dasan he has become. And excuse me, what right has Pimple preening around as if she is some form of maharani when she has a huge skeleton in her closet? 😡 Could it be literally a skeleton? 🤢 I wonder how Surya will react when he finds out what she has done. and I am getting annoyed with his "vanga, ponga" to his wife. Why is the hypocrite Pimple criticising Thenu for the way she has been behaving towards Surya when she herself has allowed Surya treat her as if she is the older person? And she has no right to talk to Thenu when she is a newcomer. Who gave her the right to treat Vani's niece that way? vani, Vani, Vani...when are you going to find out?😕

Idiot Surya. No guts, What happened to your brains? Did it stop working when you tied the thali around the blardy witch's neck? But Arun is doing his job very well. Compared to Somu who was a terrible person at heart, Surya is not...and you could see that he was in a dilemma. The manner in which Thenu spoke to him was nothing new - she has been talking like that throughout her life. so he was stuck - - he was forced to castigate Thenu because of his wife.😡 Anaconda is evil.😡 As Thenu said, Kooni wanted to protect Bharathan. Even Sakuni did what he did for his nephews. But this woman is an evil force, who likes to cause mayhem and just sit back and enjoy the chaos and pain she has caused.

Thenu should have said much more. So what if they are adults? Respect should be earned, not demanded, Go to Vani's office Thenu - go get your Periamma to save you.

Selvi and Sura - both should hang their heads in shame for not trusting their husband/son. Is that the depth of their feelings for him? If I were Rajesh, I'd dump them and go out when the truth comes out. I have said this before - Shenbagam would have been a better wife. Do you think she would have believed Geetha? She would have whacked her blue and black and chased her out of the house. Really disappointing reaction from Selvi. She is just fortifying the bad press about suspicious wives.

Pappy!!! She is back. I was just thinking, gosh, where is she and there she crops us. Woo hoo. Nice to see you sweetie. You look less like Kali's granddaughter now. Such a sweet character she is. Thank you director for bringing her back.

Loved the repartee between Poongodi and Karthik. Vani Rani's own Tom and Jerry. Nice to see everyone happy in a genuine fashion. I am waiting to see how the relationship develops. Maha and Raj have great screen chemistry.

Thenu was outstanding today. Well done Neha. ⭐️Great dialogues too.

Happy days are back again! We are beginning to enjoy Vani Rani the way we did before the major upheaval and the disastrous stopgap measure, which unfortunately caused more damage, some of which appears to be irreparable. But I have every faith in our director that he would do his best. I do not even want to think of the Mad Month of Mayhem. Really at all levels it was crude direction, crude storylines and crude dialogues. I shudder when my mind flashes back and I bring it back to the present forcefully. The present is pleasant, it offers a balm to the wounds caused by that crazy time. Thank you Mr. Director sir. As someone posted in youtube "Ramachandraaa, nee vazhga".

On many levels, this episode made me smile, smile and smile some more. 😊😊😊 The scene in Thenu's classroom was sad - but it made me smile. 😊 I smiled because Puppy is back. What a lovely little actress she is. She doesn't look like Kali's granddaughter now = or maybe she does - because Kali now is soft and gentle. As is Puppy. And how well she delivered the dialogues with matching facial expressions. I wish we could see more of her.

I smiled because there was continuity. 😊 Puppy recalling the time when Thenu was struck dumb, the prayers the classmates had. I smiled again when the teacher was there, even for a few moments. I know that many serials are at the top of TRP because of the trashy horror stories, but having gauged the reactions from my friends and family and youtube comments, I have come to the conclusion that people love happy stories that make them smile. I do. Happiness is contagious. We love happy moments and today's episode had quite a few.

How many of you were at the end of your seats and chanting together with Thenu as she kept saying "Edunga, Periamma, edunga please", hoping that Vani would somehow be telepathic and hear her niece's plea. I somehow expected it but was disappointed still. It has been quite a while since we have seen the Lioness that is Vani Bhoominathan. Call her arrogant, call her meddlesome but I definitely would want her in my corner, fighting for me. Except for those less appealing characteristics, Vani is an admirable character. Loyal, loving, calm, level-headed, indomitable, determined,...and before some of you argue that she is unfair to Gautham, I will only ask you to remember this: Pre-ONR and Post-ONR. Right now we are embarking on the RC ride! Sir, please, Vani must get to know about Anaconda's treachery (including her visit to the PG's [Punnake Gumbal] house before marriage) and EVERY SINGLE ACT. Anaconda must be held responsible for the evil deeds that she has been doing. Pimple's story and her equally atrocious behavior must be exposed, Surya must learn a hard lesson (ayooo, eppidi character-a destroy pannitanga) and Vani and Rani must reunite. And Vani must accept Gautham back. I find it very strange that she does not seem to miss her son was very close to her. And whilst I am at it, could you by some miracle make Rani question Swamy why he uttered those disgusting words? Seriously, I don't mind if the Mad Month of Mayhem was just a dream of Rani's. She wakes up and discovers that the fight she had at Vani's place is just a dream. Really, I would be very happy if this was the case. Hahahaha. 😆

The next frame - for a minute I thought I was watching a Godfather movie like Nayagan or Thalaiva. Three men meeting at a beach to discuss something important. I smiled because Gautham was back. 😊 I smiled to see three men of three generations united by their love for these two women. 😊 Gautham says he can't understand Ranima. Believe me, neither can we! But you know what made me smile even more broadly? 😃 Gautham acknowledging Pooja, Kathir, Sudha and Pushpa. Really, it is just lovely to see moments like these. Whatever pain, hurt and sadness Pooja went through was all worth it. I always said Pooja is basically a nice and decent girl and finally Gautham admits it. Go and tell her, you fool.

I must add something. Cinematography was brilliant. The lights, the colours, the angles, the contrasts...it was sheer poetry. I was just admiring the shots - congratulations to the cameraman for excellent work.

Then I smiled some more. My favourite couple. KarPoo. Aww...so romantic. So lovely to see them warm and comfortable with each other - our own Tom and Jerry being friends and lovers. It was such a sweet and lovely scene. They were not lovey-dovey, they were still cheeky to each other but behind that banter you could see that they love each other. Dialogues were enjoyable. Great chemistry between Raj and Maha, who were just so natural in their roles that you could see there was no awkwardness between them...the banter that continued in the hall was just wonderful. It was so pleasant to see everyone happy in Manickam's household. 😃

And that warm fuzzy feeling spilt onto Vani's house. Mdm Radhikaa looked gorgeous. And her smile was genuine and warm, her eyes lighting up on seeing her father. Aww...KarPoo hand-in-hand. (Hey, Karthi was painting a purple nail colour...how come Poongodi's nails are pink????) I laughed when Poongodi commented to Vani "Anaconda inge than irruka?" (I completely forgot that she is the grandmother!). Laughed too at Bhoomi's eppidi irunthinga neenga, ippidi ayithingele". Witty. Well done PaRa! ⭐️

Happy smile. 😃 Happy episode. Ramachandraaa, nee vazhga! 👏

Well, apparently the old adage "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" applies to women too. Ah, what an idiot the house owner is. Screaming like a banshee and then purring like a rusi kanda poonai. Kavuthu vittitiye Nithyasri. No wonder Thenu, Saravanan and Swamy were smiling. They could see Rani's sleath working on the houseowner. We should send Rani to United Nations. She can replace Ban and resolve world issues that have not been resolved since time immemorial. Reconcile the Arabs and the Israelis over a meal of 8 types of dosas. OK, I am being uncharitable here but very difficult for me to sympathise with her right now. Rani, Rani, what have you done to me? From wishing I had a chitti like you, I am now thanking God my sister is not like you. 😆. It is ok, folks, I am well aware that this is just a serial so please don't suggest a couch for me. 😆 Yet.

Malathi...oh God, enough already. Another character transplant...where did the temper and defiance come from? Two extremes. From a crybaby to a screaming one. I don't understand why she is rude to St. Selvi...but you know what, serves that moron right. If ever you find St.Selvi's brain, please return it to her. How would you recognise it? Easy. It would be clean and polished and brand new. Because she hardly uses it.🤣

KarPoo - the fireworks did not happen as I expected but it was lovely to see both of them again. Rajkumar Manoharan won Ajanta Award recently for his portrayal of Karthik and well he deserves it. Though many of us more or less are able to predict where this story is going, don't be surprised if there is a surprise, because this is Vani Rani who continuously gives us new twists. However, if it goes the way we think it will go, once again, be ready with big box of tissues because Maha has become a powerhouse where emotional scenes are concerned and Rajkumar has now joined her. Thank you VR team for putting together a dynamic and charismatic young duo for an intense and no doubt heartwrenching story. Poongodi was adorable when she said she wants to go back to Bangalore. More of KarPoo please! 👏

Also looking forward to seeing how Kali is going to deal with Sura. I'd like a big story for Sura too so that Sangeetha can do something different and show us what she is capable of. The storyline I have in mind would be too intense for viewers I think. I would like her character to have an illness - breast cancer for example - and the story would focus on how she deals with it, how her family rallies around her and she becomes a breast cancer survivor. But I doubt that would happen although this silent killer is common in every society. I still remember the response from the viewers on the hidden camera story - although it is contemporary one and very much in the news daily. Either it is too intense or people just dont want to see these plots on the small screen.

I really appreciate VR. Every time I wander off into other serials, I come out screaming in horror and then I watch VR and all is well again. Thendral and Chandralekha - I manage to watch in 10 mins. Vamsam and Deivamagal - I avoid like the plague.

Vani Rani is not perfect but it is damn close! 👍🏼

Rani..Rani..I cant resist your smile..I had to smile with you at the end. What a lovely bashful smile that was. But looks like you dont miss your sister at all. Can you please show a couple of moments of sadness? XRay..hahaha.. (but one kostin - when is Saravanan going to find a job? And has he finished his MBA? Ok, two kostins there) And I am surprised that Internet savvy youngsters such as Saravanan and Thenu did not think of advertising their mother's food through Facebook. Come on people, Facebook is the new advertising tool. 😆

Xray...paatinga ..punnaku network. LOL. Todays episode was peppered with witticisms like that. 😆But intha kilaviyin attam thanga mudile pa. Girijaaa...where are you?😡

I love PD2. When Pimple's parents were talking, I was observing PD in the background and laughing. He was funny. I know he is a despicable character and ordinarily I would despise him but the Punnaku Gumbal deserves him and much more. I am hoping that he will use the information he got by eavesdropping will be put to good use by torturing the Old Witch and the Punnaku Gumbal and the heiress to the empire, the Princess Punnaku.😈

Scene at Kali's house was touching. I cried a bit, not because of Kali pleading but because of Sundari's emotional outburst, telling them all she went through, the pain, the hurt and the humiliation..that was a heart rending scene. St. Selvi tried to do good once again but her MIL didnt cooperate. And like some people pointed out in youtube, such double standards. She was so nasty and unforgiving towards Rajesh when she suspected (told you all her brains are nice and shiny through lack of use) him of having an affair with Geetha (who misses her? I do...not! 😃) and she expects her MIL to forgive Kali for foing something worse than thatAnd then 6Face - had to laugh when he is singing and the word mama comes out as he sees Kali and utters "Mams".

Karthik and Poongodi. Dam waiting to explode. Sigh. We want happy and cheeky KarPoo moments.

I am glad that the secret Karthik has been hiding all this while is finally out but that it was exposed to Mano was something I did not expect. That was a nice little touch. The two men showed an understanding and bonding that was sweet and rather nice to see. It was specially touching at the last shot when both of them walked off with Mano's arm around his son-in-law. 😊 Things like this are usually ignored or taken for granted.

Poongodi looked really sweet. Yes, Poongodi did not die but losing the ability to give birth is something that is serious and shattering, especially in our community where a woman is judged (still) on her fecundity. More so Poongodi who after such a harrowing time, first with Saravanan and then with Karthik, was finally settled in life and looking forward to the next phase of her life - that of being a mother. I just hope that when she finds out she would react with the strength and intelligence that she has - the maturity to accept that things do happen, that Life does not come to an end, that there are women worse off than her, that she has so many things going for her, especially a loving, supporting husband who is willing to do anything for her and that there are many beautiful helpless children who are dying for Love. Karthik's fear that she can't handle it must be proven exaggerated and unfounded.

6Face. Hahahaha.😆 Today's comment of the day - Professional Ethics. I used to dislike him but now I look forward to his appearance - I need to listen to his dialogues carefully because you can bet that he has hidden gems there. His facial expressions are so dramatic. Poor guy gets chased off. Hahahaha. Thank God Malathy was not there - ungrateful woman with selective amnesia. St. Selvi deserves such ingratitude. I just hope the unborn child does not inherit her brains even though it is nice and shiny.😉

Thenu was cute and natural. Little Motor Mouth is precocious - and is refreshing. I had to laugh at some of the comments she made. Enjoyed her moments with her mother; really nice. 🤗

Of course Kumar knows where Rani and Swamy are because ...he is the director!!! 😆Hahahaha. Another appearance in Vani Rani but this time as Kumar.
