well the thing is media do represent cultures and societies , nations ...these dramas , movies represent a lot ...its there written in main rules and regulations of media .in the concept of dramatization , movies ...but the thing is.. this show is rejecting all logics of even fiction 😕 just go through all the concepts ..writing a story , characterization , morals 😕 you will find this show completely opposite if this show is going against even fiction so i think we should not compare it with reality...😊i also get to know a lot about India but not from this serial but from my frineds here 😊who proved that friendship don't need any country, cultural , and religious boundaries ..😊making me want to visit India someday 😳who will give me your house address😆as i won't be staying in a hotel 😕with so many Indian friends there 😳what are friends for if i have to do so much expenditure of coming to India and staying in a hotel😳😆

Hmmm Utran is the most unrealistic show Xavi

U can better watch Navya, Yeh rishta kya kehlata, Balika Vadhu or evn Bade achey lagte hai

But things like Bride swapping r so funny here in utran

plus widow rituals n some other things r never the norm in indian society , for eg. Noth Indians r more conservative in rituals n dress, South Indians hav a very difrrent language n culture , n then customs in East Indians r diffrent too culturally

At least i can say u can never judge our society by these funny , fictional show

"to learn about a particular culture you look at their art forms"

As being a foreigner to India, Uttaran is the one and only show i ever watched. Watching this drama has taught me many things about India and its culture. Point me wrong where I am wrong because these are the things that these directors (CVs) are showing to a stranger like me. People like me who are unaware of India's culture look onto these arts form to learn from it and here is what i have learned:

Things i learned from the show:
-Indian is full of corruption from police, to doctor everyone is after money...at least that's what the show has shown. Corrupt people are found all over the world, irrespective of which nation they belong to and anyway UT is overdoing it.
- Woman are prime evil in this world full of jealousy. It is only the prime favourite formula for soaps to portray the main vamp and her cohorts as unbelievably evil and conniving.
-Evil wins over good no matter what...even God can loose in front of evil. Only till the last episode.. In the end always Good wins over Evil.
-God do not exit as good people always suffer by following Him and bad deeds have no punishment. This is disputed by all religions followed in India, which is a secular state, and in the end, bad people will get their due punishment.
-Woman is just a baby making machine, if she is unable to do so she is a symbol of hatred. This view is outdated in most of urban India with the education and progress of women in all fields and is exaggerated in soaps. It may be prevalent in some remote tribal backward societies. But in general, women are empowered now and they are aware of the various methods available for conceiving, adoption, etc.
- Elderly have no sense of shame and continue to act bad. Not a true portrayal. Not everyone is like Mai, Daddaji, Divya and Nani.
- You can cheat and get away easily, cheat on ur family, husband and ur love. Again strictly for soap and to generate interest by shock value.
- Woman is treated like garbage when her husband dies. This idea has changed and women are empowered now and are encouraged to become self- sufficient and economically independent even in remote villages by the Government which has promoted such self-help groups..
-Husband is more bound to his family than his wife, what their wives want or desire do not matter. It is left to individual families and their circumstances and compulsions in deciding whether they want a joint family or nuclear families and the husband's decisions and adjustments depend on this. Nowadays many young couples live in nuclear families out of choice and also due to their posting.

Things i learned from this forum about india:

- people are of extreme respect.
- People are very welcoming and full of manners.
- Indian are well educated...well knowledge

Agreed and Thank you...😃

Again, I am not trying to offend anyone but these are my learning through this show. Correct me if i am wrong.

Xavi, I have tried to answer your post (in pink) to the best of my knowledge.

Please do not judge the culture of India keeping this sadistic show 'Uttaran' as the standard, because this does not depict the true nature or depth of a vast country with a huge population that accommodates diverse societies such as ours. The CVs of this show started with grand themes like social justice, balance, harmony and equality, but now are sadly after only one balance, namely, their bank balance and TRP scales. They have showed all their characters as extreme and turned their vamp into doing such terrible wicked deeds in order to grab eyeballs and shock the viewers, thus capturing their attention, but in the process desensitizing the viewers. The perverse impact of this can be seen by some negative responses in this forum also. When certain limits are crossed, even if it is fiction, it is no longer considered as entertainment and causes only disturbance and friction.

This show does not conform to any of the natural laws of the Universe, like Physics, Biology, Mathematics, Logic, Reasoning, Analytical thinking, etc., Or any of the man- made Laws or Judiciary or Social Justice or Administration and Governance. Only one law is followed.. Pamper Evil and let Good suffer, if it brings more TRPs.. That is all.. It has got nothing to do with the Culture or Tradition of India or the ideals of its people. Sure, India also has got its faults, like any other major democracy in the world, but it also embraces a vast tightly- knit population and it will take some years for it to completely rectify these faults, but ironically, its strength also comes from its very own diversity.

Hi there, Xavi managed to bring me out of hibernation. Good to see your points as always. I just wanted to add that Xavi wrote that to understand a particular culture you need to look at its art form... Uttaran can hardly be considered an art form ...there is NO form or Art in this serial. It is a insult to those who practice art forms😡.
Take care. will chat soon.

You are right about Art Form.. Uttaran is the product of sick minds and definitely not even remotely connected to Art in any form..

Thts why whn one member misinerprented our constitution, i asked her to spare our constitution for these fictional character, becoz it can give wrong message to the people who dosnt know the reality.

I hope tht ur misunderstanding abt Indian culture and value will be cleared, by meeting real people or reading serious book abt India and will not be bsaed on these stupid serials.

i have learned a lot from the people too...as i said before you guys are the real Indian then why not ppl like u are depicted in these stories...i am not saying anything against India or indian culture...it is hte CVs that i am concerned about...here in Canada i have soo many Indian friends ...they are the living example of reality but the only question is why CVs are ruining their own name...why cant they just END THIS...RIP 😆
