dear srkluvr wenever a death occurs in the house all near & dear1s of the deceased don't hold any festivities, rituals etc. till the "sutaka" is lifted.and in case even if Karvachauth cums in btn this period no married women r allowed 2 do it!! and period depends on regions traditions.

i also rem that wen 2 yrs. ago my grand mother died at that time i'd started monday's fasts a month ago i was asked not 2 keep fast & even not allowed 2 do daily "pooja" 4 16 days.in our place we do "karam" after 11 or 13 or 16 days,sumtimes it depends upon the 1s .caste's traditions . and in small towns & villages 1st festival is not celeberated even by whole village. and for family theres no celeberation 4 whole 1yr. as in india traditions, languages & water gets changed after every mile or so. though now-a-days ppl celebertae festivals but wid not much fanfare. here only exceptio is marriage which doesn't stop even if parents of bride or groom die.😊

and theres a saying" kos-2 par badle paani aur char kos par badle bani"( its not bani of show 'kasam se')😉😆😆😆

Thanks dear for telling some people how sad it is when somebody dies and it is not the time to celebrate and think about other things except for the grief of loosing someone.....

no until sutak is over no1 in family celebrates festivals sp when a young man/son's death they would not celebrate for sure...
