Funny enough that's what he would have done with mallika. Tried faking being good to get but back-bite about her to his dad. For some reason he is able to be his real self and more comfortable showing his true thoughts and feelings to nehmat.

He is territorial.

His biggest issue about Nehmat being his bride wasn't that he hated her or she was not good enough. His reason was that she loved someone else.

If we read his lines ans his growing frustration it's obvious that he isn't used to sharing his own space or what he calls his.
