Hello Friends.
Before writing this topic, I was in a huge dilemma whether I should write it or not. Then thought ' why not'. If not you all, then who else should I share with.
Before i start my topic, let me give you an example.
Yesterday, after reading so many comments, a thought came to my mind, what makes 'Ishqbaaz' the no. 1 show in India forums. (Before you protest that it is the wrong forum and not ishqbaaz forum, etc let me make it clear this topic is not about that serial. It is just an example)
Where was I? Oh yes!!! ... So it made me curious and I randomly clicked an episode in hotstar. It was a recent episode I think, where the male lead was standing in front of the female lead, but she was still worried and was under the constant thought that her husband was not alright, but he was in some trouble She sensed it. And later on she found that the person in front of her was not her husband but was a look alike.
So what stood out to me was that "SHE SENSED IT".
So why am I giving this example when this sensing thing has been a tried and tested formula in almost all our Hindi serials?
Because, our show is unique.
Here our female lead has no such thing. Even though she loves her husband with so much of mad passion.
In our serial it is Suraj, who has this sixth sense, where Chakor is concerned.
1. Lets go back to earlier days when they were enemies. Everyone remembers the bride swap fiasco. Don't you?
The moment Suraj realised Tina has run away, he knew that it was Chakor who was behind it all. He actually visualized how she must have given 'anjaam' to her plan. It was quite uncanny the way it was pretty much accurate. Why, was it just because he was very smart, I don't think so. Then too I felt that they had some cosmic connection.
Suraj had been way too obsessed with Chakor, even during their childhood, even during his so called hatred.
2. Now lets take another instance, where Suraj was shot by the jailer. Chakor had to go to Delhi and she had to go without informing Suraj. Suraj woke up with a start because he had a bad dream and sensed that Chakor's life was in danger. And he ran after her. He was in tremendous pain, but he did not care. For him saving Chakor was his foremost priority.
He fought with goons. He fought with the media. Even then when he was not in love with her.
3. Another instance, his father gave him an ultimatum that he had the time till 8 o' clock. If he can get away before that, he would be safe, or else he would be killed or face dire consequence. Again he chose Chakor before his own well being.
4. We all know about the bandhua track, He pulled off an iron pillar, be broke such thick chain to protect her. He refused food lest dishonor her. He fought with 6 strong giants and defeated them because they insulted her. And many, many more.
5. When chakor calls out to Suraj, he always senses it. " Hume aisa kyun lagaa ki ckakor ne hume pukara?, humme aisa kyun lagaa ke Chakor hume yaad kar rahi hai?, hume aisa kyu laga ki chakor kisi musibat mein hai." and it goes on.
If I start counting then it will take a whole day for me to write.
So why am I writing all this? Because I am a disappointed viewer.
The makers themselves have shown that Suraj just knows when Chakor is remembering him, when she is in trouble, etc.
He knows her deepest, darkest and ugliest of insecurities. She herself has voiced it in front of him in intoxicated state. Hasn't she?
My point here is, he can read his wife so much and can sense that she is in danger, how come he is so calm and complacent?
In this serial no one is 'dudh ka dhula'. Every one lies , cheats, traps for their own goals. (whether it is for themselves or for others)
He knows that his wife will hide the truth, then how come he just took it at face value that she is alright when his senses are screaming at him that she is in danger?
Tell me honestly guys what would you have done if you felt that your loved ones ere in trouble? Wouldn't you just want to reach them any which way possible?
Imli and Suraj talked about their dead child. Nothing wrong in that. But the way it was portrayed in the serial, was it acceptable?
There is a fine line in every relation. Whatever their past was, shouldn't they maintain the respect and decorum of their current relation?
Now coming to Chakor. She always maintained that fine line. Never tried to cross it. When she moved on, she moved on completely. She wholeheartedly accepted Suraj. What ever steps she took, it was for Suraj, towards Suraj. She earned that respect step by step. Can we say that for suraj? If yes then why do I feel that something is missing?
The makers themselves raised our expectation and build up such high hopes for Suraj. The Suraj they portrayed previously, by giving us so many glimpses of a passionate one, that this recent Suraj utterly failed to garner.
They have such a power house actor, as VJ. How many of you have seen Shashtri sisters? He did not have any dialogues, he had to show all his emotions through his eyes and his face. He made me cry. Boy did he emote!!!
Then why, oh why is Suraj shown as if he is having a character degradation?
I had build up such high hopes with regards to Suraj that the episode came as a tight slap across my face.
Why I hate Suraj right now when I loved him to bits and pieces? I had no interest in this serial. It was due to Vj I watched a few episodes. He was the first Antagonist, who made me sit straight and take notice. And then it was hook, line and sinker for me. I was totally sold.
Now tell me friends what should I be called? A suraj basher, or a disappointed, disillusioned and a brokenhearted Surajian?
(*Sorry for taking so much of time. If you have survived through this rant, then hats off to you. I absolutely mean no offence to any one. )
