Chapter 5

A.N - New update, I really wanted to kick start the story with this kidnapping and I hope the end of the chapter is okay with everyone. I have it planned out and hopefully it will make sense to all as you read Main Aur Tum onward.

Suraj was fuming as he read and re-read the kidnapping letter in his hands. It stated that by 9 p.m that night, the money should be in their hands or else. He had been searching his mind for the past hour as he had made phone call after phone call, trying to figure out who would be crazy enough to kidnap his mother and wife. He didn't like the conclusion he had come to. Because the only person who could be powerful enough to mess with him was Mukesh Verma.

A few years back his father had met Verma through a business deal with a mutual partner. He had spun his father around with big talks of money and power, but Suraj had felt the man had been hiding something from them. He had initially tried convincing his father to look more into Verma, but had been set aside by the money that was calling his father. So, Suraj had decided to take matters into his own hands and had some loyal people look into exactly what type of business Verma was a part of, and had been quite shocked. The man had been in the business of the sell of some of the worst drugs on the planet. At that time their had been a case filed against him by a small family who had lost their son due to the drugs sold to him, but they did not have much power against him.

Suraj had seen his father do a manner of horrible things, the first being keeping bandhua's, but he knew that if his father got caught in the mess with Verma, he would lose everything. Because the drug business Verma had been doing was related to overseas suppliers who had no qualms against silencing anyone who they felt were a threat to them. With a few words here and there, Suraj had managed to bring the truth of the business to public knowledge and the government had gotten involved. At this point his father had already cleared any traces of knowing Verma up and they had been out of the problem.

Mukesh Verma had lost everything, but he had managed to save his own life. He had forgotten the incident, but a few months after he had received a call, "Tumne mujhse dooshmani karke bohot baree galti kee hai Suraj Rajvanshi. Main ek din tumhe bhi bataoonga ke sab kuch khonai ka matlab kya hota hai." He hadn't given much thought to his words back then, because his henchmen had been keeping the whereabouts of Verma, and at that time he had been living in a small rural village in the outskirts of U.P by Nepal.

Suraj had no doubt in his mind that it was Mukesh Verma who had kidnapped his mother and Chakor, and this time Suraj would make sure Verma was permanently gone from his life.

Chakor jolted awake as she felt water splash on her. She went to move her hands, but felt something holding them together and she found them tied. She was sitting on the cold hard ground, and as she looked around she realized she was in a dark room with no windows. Her feet were tied together as well and then she noticed a man sitting on a chair in front of her. "Good morning babhiji. Kaise hain aap? Hum aapko badhai de na chahte te, aapki shaadi jo hui tee tore din pehle hamare kaas dost Suraj Rajvanshi ke saath."

Chakor began struggling against the ropes tying her hands and feet together as the man watched laughing. She gave up as they wouldn't budge and yelled at the man "Tum kon ho!? Aur mujhe kyun aise bandha hai!?" He stopped laughing and a dark look crossed over his face, "Mene kaha na, hum aapko badhai dehna chahte te, Mrs. Chakor Rajvanshi. Ab tumahre pati nai hume itni saaree kyunshiyan di thi, aur hume laaga hum bhi kyun na usse badle mai aur kyushiyan dain."

Chakor didn't have to be too smart to know that the man was definitely not talking about giving presents. She didn't have too much time to think on that when another man came in pulling a struggling woman along with him. Chakor was shocked to see Tejaswini Maa here along with her, and she knew that something was really wrong right now. Tejaswini Maa was thrown down next to her and she watched as she too got her feet tied up. "Toilet jaane keh bahane se, yeh buriya baag ne ki koshish kar rahee ti Verma sahaab. Lekin hum ne usse pakar liya suth same." The henchman looked proud of himself as he told his boss this.

Verma's face turned even more menacing as he turned to his worker. Before she knew it, he had pulled out a gun and pointed it at him, "Teekh se us buriya ko sambal bhi nahi sakta nalayak." He shot him in the stomach and Chakor watched as the man fell to the ground dead. She heard Tejaswini give out a scream, but Chakor felt she couldn't even breath as she watched Verma scratch his head with the gun in his hand. More henchmen came in and he barked out orders and the body was removed from the room. Chakor wanted to puke but she held it in as she noticed Tejaswini Maa's terrified face. She grabbed her tied hands with her own and squeezed, silently giving her some reassurance.

Verma then trained the gun on Maa, and Chakor felt her start to shake. "Eh buriya, phir se esse koy harkat karne ki koshish ki nah, toh me tujhe aur teri bahu ko oora doon ga, samjhi." Chakor saw her nod her head at him. She felt immense anger at the man as he turned around to leave the room. "Tum bacho gai nahee. Suraj aur police hume zaroor lene ko aayegi, aur phir tume jail me humesha ke liye jaana hoga." Verma started laughing and he turned around. "Tum dono jab tak hamare paas ho, tab tak na to police kuch kar paaye gi, aur na tumara pati Suraj." With that he left the room and Chakor felt a breath release from her.

Chakor turned to Tejaswini Maa and asked, "Maa aap teek to he nah? Aap ko koi chot toh nahi lagi he na?" She seemed to snap out of a trance as she gripped Chakor's hand tightly. "Hum teek hai, tum kaisee ho? Hume to baata bhi nahi taa ke tumhe bhi aagwa kiya hai is pagal aadmi ne." Chakor reassured her mother-in-law as she looked around for any exits. "Beta hume tumse is Verma ke baare me kuch kehna taa." With that said, Tejaswini explained to Chakor about his history and how he had gotten involved with her son and husband. Chakor began to understand what was going on and she realized she and Tejaswini Maa were being held as hostages probably for money.

"Suniye Maa, hume yahan se jald se jald nikal na hoga. Warna is pagal aadmi kuch bhi kar sakta hai." Chakor said as a plan began formulating in her mind. "Haan beta tum teekh keh rahi ho, aur humne toh kuch kaam ki cheez ko bi liya hai." With that Maa held up a shard of glass she had kept hidden in the waist band of her sari. Chakor looked surprised and tejaswini explained how she had managed to break the glass window in the bathroom and gotten the shard piece. Making sure that there wasn't anyone who was watching them, Chakor began to slice at Tejaswini Maa's rope. After many efforts and a bleeding hand, she had managed to cut the rope off. She hushed away Maa's concern of her hand saying it wasn't that deep and that getting out was more important. They managed to untie the ropes and Chakor explained the next part of the plan. They would have to make it look like their hands and feet were still tied otherwise Verma and his henchmen would just tie them up again. They loosely wrapped the rope around again and Chakor told Maa to wait. She had seen a broken piece of bark in the room and she quietly crawled towards it, and after successfully getting it she grabbed it and hid it behind her in her original location. "Ab hume intezaar karna hoga, kisi na kisi kaam se koi is kamre me aayega aur phir hum apne doosre plan ko shuroo karenge."

They waited for almost 5 hours before someone opened the door, but unfortunately they opened and closed it fast enough to only throw a plate of food into the room. The food had scattered all over the floor and most of the dal for the chaval, had spilled. Chakor cautiously moved towards the plate and grabbed it. She didn't know if it was safe to eat, but that was quickly washed away when she heard Tejaswini Maa scream. She say a rat come out from a hiding place and start to eat the rice on the floor. She held onto her Maa's hand and watched closely as the rat cleaned up the rice and scurried away. Confident that their was no poison in the food she held it out to Tejaswini Maa. "Maa, yeh kaana aap kaa lijiye, kyunke aap ko bukh lagee hogi." Tejaswini looked at the food and set the plate down. She grabbed a morsel of the rice in her hand and held it out to Chakor first. "Tum pehle beta." Chakor felt like crying in the dark room as her mother-in-law fed her food. Chakor fed the rest of the food to Tejaswini maa after some protest. Chakor knew they only had a couple more hours before Verma did something crazy.

Taking things into her own hands, Chakor got up from the floor and held her hands up to Maa. With the wood in her hand she pressed her ear up against the door. She was unable to hear much besides the occasional footsteps. She knew from experience of eavesdropping that there were only 2 guards outside of the door at the moment. Motioning for Tejaswini Maa to stand up, she held her fingers to her lips as she slowly tried the door handle. It turned all the way, the thought kitne bewakoof ran through her mind at the unlocked door. It was a good thing for her as she eased the door open a crack. The two guards were sat in front of a T.V watching cricket raptly. Shouting now and then in response to the game. She slowly inched the door open little by little hoping that it didn't squeak and give them away. In that time Tejaswini Maa had been able to find a plank of wood herself to use. Giving a smile and nod at Chakor she held the weapon up and motioned towards the men. A small smile graced Chakor for the first time that day and they cautiously stepped out of the room. Chakor saw the door across the room and motioned towards it to Maa and they silently started walking towards it. They hoped to make it out of the room without being noticed, and the door was located behind the men. They had made it halfway their when a creaky floorboard squeaked under their feet. Chakor's eyes widened as she saw the men turn their heads and give shouts of surprise at seeing them outside of the room. "Maa aap jayen yahan se. Main in dono ko sambal loongi." Cahkor held her plank of wood up threateningly as the men advanced. She felt Tejaswini leave her side and guessed she had headed for the exit. "Humree paas nahee aana, nahi toh baata denge ke tum bohot paachtao gai!" They faltered only a step before they ran at her at full speed. Chakor waited a few seconds and then WAM! She had managed to hit the first one in the head. But the other man had not stopped at the other man's unconscious state. He had grabbed onto the wood and pulled it out of Chakor's struggling hands. He threw it away and Chakor held up fists ready to fight till the end. She threw a punch that landed on his face and the guard staggered bask surprised. But he shook away the punch and advanced towards her again and managed to grab onto Chakor's arms. Chakor kicked out her feet and tried to break from the hold but the man was stronger then her. She hoped now that at least Tejaswini Maa would be able to get away safely when she felt the henchman release her and she turned around to see him holding his head in pain. Tejaswini Maa stood behind him, the plank held in her hands and a menacing look on her face. "Mere bahu ko phirse haat bhi mat laga na." Both men lay on the ground unconscious and with no looking back, they both ran out the door.

Chakr looked around as she saw a railroad track in front of her and she realized they were on the outskirts of Azadganj by the old train station. "Chalo Maa, hume yahan se jald sai jald nikal na hoga." But it was easier said then done, as the only light was the one outside the building they had just escaped from. They only had the full moon to guide them back into the village where they might be able to get help. Chakor had grabbed Tejaswini Maa's hand and just as they were about to start running for the road up ahead, she felt something cold press against her back.

Verma stepped in front of her and she saw his gun trained on her. Tejaswini Maa was being held by another henchman and she gave a desperate look at Chakor. They were trapped again.

That was when they heard a car screech to a stop on the road and Verma turned towards the sound. Chakor couldn't see who it was, but their seemed to be a person walking towards them.

The sight of Suraj walking towards them with a bag held in his hands was one of the most relieving things Chakor had ever seen. She didn't know why, but she felt such a strong sense of relief that now that Suraj was here everything would be okay. And the thought scared her.

Verma's voice broke her from her thoughts as he spoke out to Suraj, "Aaye aaye, Mr. Rajvanshi, hum aapki hi intezaar kar rehe te. Tumahree maa aur biwi ne to kamal hee kardiya. Baag ne ki koshish kar rehe teh yeh log. Mujhe toh dukh huwa, bhai hum unki itni khayal rak rehe teh aur un ho ne hamare aadmiyon ko behosh kardiya. Badhai toh deni paregee bhabi ko." But it seemed Suraj had heard enough as he spoke out, "Apni bakwas band karo aur unhe chor do. Yeh loh tumahre paise, pure 50 lakh." He held the bag out towards Verma. Suraj looked to his mother and then turned to look at Chakor. He noticed her bleeding hand which had opened up again while fighting the henchmen inside and Suraj felt his hand clench in anger. They both looked extremely worn out and Suraj wanted nothing more than to punch Verma as he felt his anger spike.

"Itni bhi jaldi kyun hai Suraj Rajvanshi, kyun na hum ek game kel te hai." Verma pulled out a coin and flipped it in the air and Suraj watched as it fell to the ground. "Chalo ab choono, chitt ya patt?" Suraj gave no response as he continued to glare at Verma. "Nahi choono gai, toh hum choon lete hai, is me kya hai. Chitt ho ga toh phirr Maa ji, patt hoga toh Chakor bhabi ji." Suraj felt fear grip him as he tried to figure out what would happen next. He saw Verma kneel down towards the coin and saw a smirk flit across his face. "Wah kya baat hai, yeh toh chitt hai. Maa ji aapko hamare saath ek khel kelna parega." With that the grip Verma had on Chakor loosened and Suraj saw him fling Chakor towards the ground in front of him. He quickly moved and caught her before she could fall to the ground. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her up to his chest. Half hugging her he whispered in her ear, "Tum thik to ho na?"He felt tingles spread across his arms as she held onto him in a tight grip. "Haan hum thik hai, leking maa..." She trailed off as she replied breathlessly. "Wah, kitna acha lag raha hai yeh milan dekh kar. Lekin kya, tum dono Maa ji ko bacha pao gai hmm." Both Chakor and Suraj stiffened at the threat towards Tejaswini and they turned towards Verma and Maa. They saw Verma wave his hands at the henchman and he let Tejaswini go. But then they watched as Verma trained his gun at her and Chakor felt a gasp escape her. "Yeh kya karehe ho Verma," she heard Suraj shout out, "Hum tumare paise laye hai, ab hamaree maa koh chor do." Verma smirked at them and replied, "Aise tori nah jaane doonga main tumhe Suraj, humne kaha tah na, ke ek din hum bhi tumhe batayenge ke sab kuch kone ka matlab kya hota hai." And with that he pulled the trigger on the gun.

Two screams filled the night air. Chakor gave a scream in shock as she heard a gunshot and she felt Suraj grip her hand in his. Tejaswini, who had been slowly backing away from Verma, stood with her ears covered as she tried to control herself from fainting. "Ek baar toh mera nishana chuk gaya, lekin doosree baar kya hoga, dekte hai." With that Verma let out another bullet and Tejaswini let out another scream. Chakor watched in fright as Verma tilted his head to the side and sighed, "Maaji aap ki kismat toh kitni achee hai, doh baar goli se chuk gayi. Lekin ab nahi bachogay."

Chakor watched as Verma lifted up his gun again and she felt herself start to run towards Tejaswini Maa. It seemed as if time slowed down as she sprinted towards Maa, she noticed her eyes close ready to take a bullet, and she saw a smirk on Verma's face as he went to pull the trigger. But all Chakor could process was getting to Tejaswini Maa to push her out of the way.

Suraj watched as multiple things happened at once. The backup of police that Vivaan had been with arrived as Verma pulled the trigger a third time. He watched aschakor flung herself toward his mother and push her out of the way. He heard a gunshot ring out in the quiet night and felt his face turn horror stricken as the bullet met flesh.

Chakor only had time to hear a sound of surprise as she pushed Tejaswini Maa out of the way, when she felt it. The pain of a bullet piercing her hip was immense and she let out a scream as she fell to the ground. She felt blood rushing out of her body as the pain intensified even more from her harsh fall. She felt a pair of warm hands and gentle voice coaxing her to stay awake, but Chakor could not feel anything but the pain. All she could remember before losing unconsciousness was a desperate plea and a warm pair of brown eyes filled with despair.
