The world lost one of the pioneers of the modern day world. A life meant to be celebrated not mourned.

Global warming and climate change showed it's disastrous side effects with Haiyan rampaging through the Philippines and causing irreversible damage to lives and property.

India faced it's own demons of unsustainable development with the floods at Kedarnath. May the lost lives R.I.P.

Cricket will never be the same again. Sachin Tendulkar, more popularly known as, 'Little Master' retired from the Cricket world, leaving many heartbroken.

Violence reared it's ugly head with bombs going off at the Boston Marathon.

As one natural disaster by another tore across the world globally, China suffered from a massive earthquake, destroying lives and homes.

A news to rejoice and celebrate. The Royal Baby, Prince George Alexander Louis was born to Prince William and Catherine , Duchess of Cambridge.

An inspiration for all young girls, Malala Yousafzai gets recognition and support worldwide for her brave act of defiance against the Taliban as she presents her speech at the United Nations , bringing tears to many eyes.

Spirit of freedom arose again as The Middle East went through major changes with the freedom revolution raging through out the continent.

The multinational internet corporation ,Yahoo buys out the very famous blogging site among youngsters, Tumblr. , promising the rivalry back with its biggest competitor in the coming year.

Science gave hope to many childless women with the cloning of stem cells and furthers a step into the unknown mysteries of human beginnings.

The biggest phenomenon of internet generation ,Microsoft , added another venture by buying the ancient but very popularly known phone company, Nokia for one of the biggest deals in the business world.

First time , an Indian descent American, Nina Davuluri becomes Miss America 2014, marking a significant time in history.

The year was a mixed bag-things ended but there were new beginnings.. Some made us depressed, others were the carriers of joy..

The year was full of hope and despair, darkness and light-Here's hoping that the coming year brings with it much more happiness in your lives!
