There are many unexpected twists and turns in this episode, so let's not assume the worst.

I know that article came out saying that Anu thinks Malhar has married again (to Anvi), but she may have also misunderstood. We saw that pic of the actress with MS and sindoor, but we also know that she is pregnant with Ahir's child. And Malhar is shown living by himself, not with her.

If I were to guess, Avni is wearing the MS and sindoor to protect her from the stigma of be an unwed mother. Knowing Ahir, he probably pretended to be in love with her only to swindle her money (her father is supposed to be a rich and powerful man). So, to protect herself, she may have come to Malhar for help and he is pretending to be her husband in front of society and maybe even her father, but he is not living with her or anything else. So seems to me that it is purely to save her and her child.
