My apologies for how late this is, but as promised I will now be updating every other day, because the track is stressful, this morning I woke up with a wave of ideas for this story and I now know exactly where I am taking it, so thank you for being patient through my personal issues but I am back (finally)! Italics are flashbacks

"I dont want to give you hopes of something I cant give you" Kanak muttered
"What do you mean" Uma asked
"Uma, I cant" she paused, unable to look him in the eye
Uma's heart raced, he felt uneasy to see the one he loved in such a dilemma
"I cant have children"
Uma froze, stepping back in shock
Kanak shook her head, she knew once she told him he wouldnt want her anymore
She turned on her heel and walked away

"Kanak wait, Kanak please listen to me"
She stopped and waited for him to catch up
"Its okay" she shrugged "I know you dont want me anymore" she laughed sadly "who would"
Uma was heartbroken to think for a second that Kanak could ever feel unwanted by him, truth was she was all he had ever wanted, he had looked for her for ages, "Kanak please"
"No Uma, I dont want to talk"

Uma looked over at Kanak, he had to speak before she did, he had to reassure her that it was her he wanted
"Yes, I want to marry Kanak"
Kanak looked up at him shocked "But Uma"
Uma shook his head and grabbed her hand "Kanak is who I want"
Pari clapped "And Kanak, what do you want"
Kanak felt stuck, she didnt want to become a burden to Uma and his family but if Uma wanted her as much as she wanted him then maybe they could surpass this

Looking up at Uma she smiled softly and squeezed his hand "Yes I want to marry Uma"
Uma and Kanak jumped as Rani screamed loudly "Does this mean my Kanak will be in another country"
Kanak smiled "I will always come and visit" she promised
Uma frowned "I dont want to take you away from your family, the village I live in is different, its not how do I explain, it isnt like here and your happiness comes first to me, to live where I live you would live differently"
Santosh smiled, Meena was right, Uma really was perfect for Kanak

"I would love to live where you do, its always been my dream to live in a village, I could fit in" Kanak nodded, sure life would be perfect there but Uma himself didnt want to put pressure on Kanak.
Pari cupped Kanak's face "I am so happy, but now I must return to my village and get the preparations ready, Uma you must also accompany me"
Uma looked over at Kanak "But I will come back , I promise"
Kanak smiled, she believed him, because what was meant to be would always be

It was the next morning and Uma had taken a small break from college teaching, his students were sad, although the majority of the class had started due to his good looks, they realised he was a good man, and enjoyed learning about his passion.
Kanak stood patiently by the gate waiting for Uma to say his goodbyes
Her gift for him hidden behind her back
She frowned when a girl hugged him and was happy when he stepped away and called her behna.

Uma walked over to Kanak and smiled
"I got you a gift, so we can talk when you are over there"
Kanak handed him the phone and he smiled
"Simple, just like me" he laughed
"Uma are you sure we shouldn't tell your family I cant have children, incase they"
Uma rested his finger on her lips
"That is just between us, but if you want to tell them, that is okay, but youre all I want, I dont care for anything else"
Kanak sighed "Okay, ill stop worrying"
"Good"

Kanak stood at the car as Uma turned around
Kanak wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him
Uma smiled and rubbed her back, he would miss her, a lot
But soon he would be back
"Take care of my heart, I am leaving it with you" he whispered before pulling back and stepping into his car
Kanak waved at him tearily as he walked away, she would become the perfect woman for him for when he returned, two weeks, it wasnt that long, she could handle it

But a lot could change in two weeks, Uma and Kanak still had to face some age old traditions, a clash of culture and a new professor at Kanak's college that wasnt all she seemed.

"Good morning everyone, I have appointed someone to take over for Mr Shankar while he is away"
Kanak looked up at the head master and sighed heavily, it had been four days and she still had not heard from Uma.
"This is Mr Ragvan Garewall"
Kanak smiled up at him as he waved at the class
Priya nudged Kanak's arm "Not as good looking as Uma but I will cope"
Kanak laughed "Thats my fiancee youre talking about"
Priya laughed and then looked down at the glares from the teachers

It was a few hours later when Kanak was on her way back to class from using the bathroom when she heard shouting
"I said already I will find a way to plant the bomb"
Her eyes widened as she saw Ragvan on the phone
"I know what I am doing and I wont get caught, these Indians will pay for what they did to our country"
Kanak scuffled back, she had to tell someone
Knocking over a vase she stepped back, turning she ran down the hall

Ragvan ran out of the room, he looked down at the anklet on the floor, lifting it he smiled, he would find who had been listening, he wouldn't allow someone to foil his plans
Kanak stopped outside and ran behind a wall, breathless she grabbed her phone about to call Uma then stopped, she didnt want him to come back just for her, she could sort this alone, she wasnt a child, she just had to do it quickly without getting caught

"So what youre saying is, you think Ragvan, a man I have known for years is a terrorist" asked Mr Gupta
Kanak nodded "I heard him Sir on the phone talking about planting a bomb and about how Indians had ruined his country"
He shook his head "You must have heard wrong, he was born here and grew up here"
Kanak put her hands together "please Sir, just listen to me"
Kanak turned at the knock on the door
"Sir, I found this anklet outside my room, any idea whos it could be"

Kanak looked down, she prayed Mr Gupta wouldnt say anything
"Oh, isnt that Kanak's"
Kanak looked up "No, not mine, anyway ill see you both, bye" she walked out slamming the door behind her
Priya turned to see Kanak walking towards her "Kanak, where have you been, you missed our lesson"
Kanak pulled her to the side "That new teacher wants to plant a bomb, but no one will listen to me"
Priya's eyes widened "Call Uma"
"No, we cant , he needs to be there not here, we can fix this"

"We need to pray for yours and Kanak's relationship" said Pari
Pari was about to sit down when she saw the owl sat on the roof
Her eyes widened and she grabbed Uma's arm, pointing to the owl "Uma, its, its a sign, something bad is going to happen"
Uma lifted his right hand, scratching his left hand and Pari shook her head, tears filling her eyes " Something really bad is going to happen, but what"
Uma stepped away "I need to call Kanak"

Uma walked inside and grabbed his phone
Kanak picked up not to long after "Hello"
"Kanak, is everything okay"
"Yeah, of course, how are you"
Uma put his thumb up at Pari, she sighed in relief
"Im good, I have to go now but I will call tomorrow okay"
Kanak looked down at her phone as he cut off and led back on her bed, sleep evading her all night long

It was the next morning, Kanak kissed Santosh on the cheek before standing up ready to leave
She walked outside, looking through her bag for something
"Need a lift"
Kanak looked up to see Ragvan
"Uh no, ill walk, thanks"
His eyes darkened "No I suggest you get inside"
Kanak sat in the car and took a deep sigh
"So, enjoying college"
Kanak nodded

"I heard your mother was the great Sandhya Rathi"
Kanak looked away "Yes"
He nodded "She enjoyed putting people behind bars right"
"She was doing her job, people shouldnt have commited the crime in the first place if they didnt want to" she stopped mid sentence as he glared at her
Kanak went to get out as he parked the car but he grabbed her wrist "I think you forgot something"
He dropped her anklet in her hand and she grimaced, getting out of the car
"See you around Kanak"

Kanak grabbed her phone "Priya, meet me outside" she text and waited for Priya to arrive
Explaining everything to her Priya shook her head "You have to tell Uma, please Kanak before were all in danger and its to late"
Kanak sighed "I dont want to bother him, hes been so busy"
Priya rolled her eyes "Hes never to busy for you, now call please or I will"

Kanak waited patiently for Uma to answer the phone
"Hi Kanak, how are you"
"Im uh, I really need to talk to you"
Uma frowned "Is everything okay"
Kanak tapped her foot, not sure how to go about it
"Arree Uma are you coming to say happy birthday to your mother" she heard Pari shout
Kanak closed her eyes painfully "I just wanted to say I missed you, say happy birthday for me, bye Uma" she cut off the phone and mouthed an apology to a dissapointed Priya

Uma looked down at his phone worriedly

Hello! So obviously I spoke about a clash of cultures and deep beliefs etc and Uma's family are very supersticious!
Sorry its all sooo late but I have a surprise for you all so im hoping I will be forgiven!

How are you dear hope all your personal issues sorted out. Maya wonderful update dear story started in one direction now its traveling in different direction. This fiction is becoming more interesting intriguing and I guess it would highlight many social evils in the form of superstitious beliefs of the society. Thank u so much Maya pls update it soon.
