Hey there all the lovely people!!
Me is back with the next update. My apologies for riding a tortoise with the current pace of the SS and my update speed.

Part 10
"Why don't you sleep? Uma asked keeping the cup of coffee in front of her.
Kanak looked up at him and then the coffee, she sipped and said a silent thank you'... he sat down opposite her, looking at her drinking the elixir that gave her life. "Caffeine is an addiction you do realize that, he said She looked at him, he wouldn't leave today, he wanted answers, Kanak sighed and said in quiet voice, "it's just I don't sleep well at new places, she said the truth, but only she knew that it was only half truth. She had to change the topic, "I am bat woman, I fight criminals at night.. she said laughing and raised her hand for a hi five across the table. He didn't respond, he kept looking at the her hand while his own was clenched under the table. She pulled back awkwardly and asked, "so what do you do? "I treat the people you beat up at night, now I know how they get injured he said smiling back at her playfully. She threw a morsel of the biscuit at him and it hit him square on the chest, "do not disrespect the food, he said clucking his tongue and picked up the piece and popped it in his mouth. "5second rule he replied to her unasked question.
"You are unpredictable Kanak said "one moment you are hard as a stone then you crack up jokes, how do you do that? Uma was a bit taken back by her question, "don't even think about leaving this table! Kanak warned him, aiming another biscuit at him. "Didn't know we were playing KBC Uma replied stoically.
"Not going to apologize but still I didnt mean it that way Kanak said while unfolding her legs from the chair, as if getting up to leave... "given up on the game already Uma said folding his arms and smirking. "Dream on dude!! While your coffee woke up my head, the leg fell asleep sitting Kanak quipped back.
Uma got up to help her stand, while she shooed him away saying it's alright, she would manage.. Uma made her sit on her chair back and took her foot in his hand, he rubbed and massaged for a minute and asked if it was better, Kanak who has been staring at him, his concern, his commitment everything baffled her. Uma stood up and said " you need to get rid of that jeans. "Excuse me Kanak replied.
"No, no I didn't mean it that way... he ran his hand in his hair flustered, "you skin is chafing by the constant rub of the jeans, near the ankles especially he said that and went to his room. He brought out a pair of trousers. He handed it over to her, and left.
"Uma she called him but he didn't listen. Why is he so weird, he can see the pain, diagnose it and give remedy too, but can never ... never what her mind questioned her back.
He knew he had had a bad life changing experience, but he was working to reform himself for years to see the better aspect of life. But the sudden change was making him anxious, Kanak was bedazzling him, the way she talked reserved at sometimes and sometimes freely, it was impossible to get to know her. He picked his book in the garden and set to read it. He tried pretending to read the same page over n over again, till a slight crash told him that Kanak had tripped on the step again. "Again he called out to her sitting form from behind his book. "All because of you she replied back, knowing where his hiding spot was. "Seriously he groaned back slapping his book shut and keeping it with a thud on the table. He walked towards her and saw her pinning the folded ankles of the trousers, the girl was raking and combing through the stuff/house and always got what she wanted, it felt like she was getting used to home. Uma could only absorb the intensity fact silently.
"Come lets go for a walk he stood in front of her his hand outstretched towards her. She looked at his hand, a slight tremble was evident, he was nervous, she concluded... "I am hurt she feigned pain in her expressions and Uma pulled back his hand and said "suit yourself knowing she was lying. He turned and she jumped up saying "I will come and fell in step with him. They walked together in silence, the raw beauty of beauty of nature, at places ravaged by nature.
They came to a gurgling spring amidst the rocks, Uma stood leaning on a tree while Kanak jumped in joy, taking in the scene in front of her... "I miss my camera she said to herself... "I will get those thugs arrested for stealing. She pulled up the trousers to her knees and put her feet in the water and sat back watching the water splash around her legs. She turned back to see him and found him looking at her, his eyes were clouded. He was lost... she cupped water in her hand and threw it on him, a few droplets later she had his attention. "This place is beyond amazing, beautiful she said. "What happened to your camera? He asked as if he hadn't listened to her appreciation. He came and sat next to her. "Umm mm I ... i was out on my own and they came and... and took my stuff and attacked me and I ran and ended up at your place she said her head bowed down looking at her fidgety fingers with tears brimming, she wouldn't blink or he would know.. she steeled herself to not to cry.
He placed a finger on her chin and raised her head, bringing her face to light, her face had a slight hue of red he wiped off her unshed tears and said "it's not your fault... you don't have to hold back.. she smiled a bit and after a few seconds her smile brightened and she said "pot is calling the kettle black.. Uma had no answer or reaction to it. It was the truth which only she had seen through, he smile a bit and stayed quiet.
"Human eye is a thousand time more capable than a camera to capture memories, memories that can be stored in the mind and recalled at whenever required, one doesn't have to shuffle through drives to get the desired picture on screen Uma said to her. "Look around and it's all yours to have. Kanak took in his words, she nudged his arm with her elbow, "what else do you-think I am doing?, she laughed and then sobered "memories are all that will be left when I go back she said quietly. The truth clenched their breath, their truth that they had to go back to their lives, leave the haven, the hermit house, to their normal lives, vacations over.
Uma stood up and said "it's getting late Kanak followed him... they walked back together side by side in silence. Both unaware of the storm of uncertainty brewing in the other
