Hey there all the lovely people!!
I have broken Sunday tradition, and I am here with a Short Story - SS. It's more of an instant thought that had me going while I was stranded somewhere. I don't know if it even makes sense or not.
So please bear with me till I complete it - someday đł
SS : Kuch Ranjishein
Ranjish means - grief, misunderstanding, anguish. --
Uma looked at the rising sun, the red glow spreading over the horizon, sun adding numerous colors to the darkened sky, mountains drawing a line between shadow and light. Days were passing by quickly, his annual secluded hermit trip was ending in a few weeks, he still had to over come things - feelings... the anger, the hatred. He had to suppress them for once and for all, he had been taking 2 months off every year for 5 years now, to give time to himself, find himself, to place himself in the world accordingly. He was a doctor, the misery he saw around made him despise himself, the way he clenched his fists whenever he refused to a female patient, he could never over come the restraints to touch a female patient, anger overpowered his duty, he hated the species called women... the only female he could lay his eyes on or hear about was his sister... they never had a bond or relationship of any kind. He couldn't handle being near her, he lived in the outhouse till she was old enough to be shipped off to a boarding school. He knew about her, saw her once every year from a distance, but never held her hand, nor embraced her, nor shared a word. She was the only person he had but God had other plans for him. He couldn't be near a woman. Anger guilt and hatred had consumed him... he was out there in the mountains to beat the fact in his head that his sister needed more than money and expenses, female patients needed him. And he was there stuck in his own trauma.
He saw the bushes moving and ignored thinking it might be a rabbit or an animal, he realized after staring at the point that a it was someone, a person in his grounds. But he had no visitors in that place and civilization was miles away from him. Who could have it been. Uma being wary and cautious, pulled open his cupboard and slipped the gun in his waistband.
"Who is there?" He called out from a safe distance. Silence hung in the air and he called out a few more times, looking here and there... till he realized a figure crashed on the pile of dead leaves he had brushed yesterday. Uma walked towards it slowly, and cautiously, it was a girl and he stopped dead in his tracks. He kept staring for a few minutes and jolted out of his dazed state when he realized she wasn't moving. Questions 'who she was? How she came here, why wasn't she moving? Ran through his mind miles per minute. Uma went closer to examine, he had to know what had happened, he took a few steps closer to retreat back. He was unable to touch her, he grabbed the broom he had left yesterday and prodded her shoulder. She was unconscious that was clear. Uma turned around, running his hand through his hair, breathing in and out trying to calm himself. He couldn't leave the girl out. He had to do something.
"Damn damn daaamn!!!" He screamed at his heighten anxiety.. Uma turned to face her, he balled up his hands and placed his arms under her neck and legs. He couldn't see her face, her hair was all tangled up. She was in a downtrodden state. He closed his eyes and picked her up. She was light, he walked back inside his house with hurried steps.
