i am commenting again..all the comments.keeping me hooked to the topic..😆

well..yes he did a very big crime marrying anyone with force..a question comes up in my mind now..what if all the signs again happen to him in regards to another lady..would he marry her too..well..i doubt it..because i feel he has changed..he knows marrying kanak that way was wrong..but his dharmic views still holds him tight and he is not aware of the reality..that ge can never win a womens heart by force..i am sure he will win though.but by love and compassion..thats where the path leads i suppose..

Excellent post!

With regards to forced marriage...Uma is no better or worse than heroes from other serials.

There is a major difference though...

Uma is a religious person. Although some of his beliefs are extreme, his being a man of faith is not something to be looked down at as such. In fact, it is this same faith that makes him better than all the heroes you mentioned.

Heroes of other shoes married by force out of hatred, to punish the girl, or some personal gain of their own. Some even made it clear that they would dump the girl when their purpose was fulfilled. They never even once thought about the future of the girl they married.

Unlike these other heroes...Uma married Kanak with the full intention of committing to her for life, to make her happy, to give her the full status of a wife, and make her a 50-50 share holder in everything he owns.

Other heroes also don't force themselves on their wives...but it is because of hate or the disdain they feel for them...or because they don't want to give the wife her proper status in their lives.

Uma on the other hand feels for Kanak...he is attracted to her...yet his dharam gives him the strength to exercise self control. So he definitely gets brownie points from me...his character and his intentions are well above the heroes of other daily soaps.

Unfortunately...his strongest characteristic...his staunch faith...has caused so much trouble for him...that his heroine is about to walk out on him.

@bold: This is the very reason his "signs from God" logic doesn't sit well with me. 😆

Dont worry its not double standards (atleast from my side)...cant stand any of the guys u mentioned plus loads more. Most of them deserve a long vacation in jail.

I just wish Indian TV would stop promoting such 'heroes' (read villain) and such 'love stories' (read toxic relationship and stockholm syndrome).

People says it's just fiction and does not affect reality which should hold true but then I come to I-F and see people wishing to marry Arnav Singh or abusing real life people over a male chauvanist character.

Some people on here even say Uma is a good husband and call Kanak immature for not giving into him or accepting him. I once saw a poll where Kanak came out as the least fave character and Uma as most favourite character.

Why just today I saw a topic asking in a shocked way...Uma is going to be negative (as if he wasnt negative already and oppressing Kanak)

Most people accept 'heroes' like Uma and Arnav because they're good looking and also because the narrative puts them in a good light (notice whenever another decent guy enters the girls life...he always turns out to be a creep and unrealistically negative so we can all root for the male lead).

All these girls deserve better than these cheap men.

The saving grace for this show is that Kanak has continuously fought against his beliefs and never accepted this sham of a marriage. The day she goes back to him before he feels remorse and changes is the day I will drop this show.

There a few decent serials that dont rely on forced marriages and man-handling/possessiveness. So not all are bad.

Hey isnt that faith teaches us? To have faith 100%. If smebody lovs by seeing aome goodness ... That good please can meet them tomorrow as well. So will they leave that person? Nopes.. because goodness was just a reason for love to happen. After that pwrson changes , or somebody else comes lve doesnt change.

In umas case he is shiv bhakt. He is 100% faith in him. He has not seen one signal ... Time and again

Her coming to his shivir in kerala

Then meeting in pushkar on photo shop

Then kanak going to his room and wearing ring

Their haldi in mandir

He didnt know about kanak mishthan bhandar phone wali gal... But he would have understood after payal told hin

Then comng to ladnu her dupata going over him

His kbowing name i.e. kanak(now he would have thought about signs more)

Everything is there... Character or a real life person will never get tgese signs or similar ones again. Because ots just metaphor for soulmates.

And I think this is sequel of dabh,and bcoz of suraj character and comparison with him people think uma shankar is bad and in dasi test people start hate him more bcoz I also feel this is a huge insult and,many others also think in the same way

I wish it wasn't a sequel of dabh ! People need to move on a get over the fact that this is a different story with diff characters . Kanak is not sandhya . Uma is not sooraj ! So obviously they will have different personalities ! I mean why would we even watch if they repeated the same old story again ? :) I think all the season 1 fans need to just get over sandhya and sooraj . Like I get it that sooraj was a great guy but Uma is not sooraj . He doesn't have to be like him .
