Hey there all the lovely people.
Direct episode discussion today.
Sometimes in life it's better to take a step back rather than compromise on self respect and fall in the bottomless pit of non existence. Sometimes it's better to fail, if passing/success is going to ruin your future. Self respect is that one thing that has no price... be it gareeb ki Beti or hi ti upper class, it knows no social class, caste or creed. One is often stuck in a rut, with no direction and the only thing that would give direction asks price too hefty -- there would be thoughts that 'do it and get done with it' but does it really end there. I don't ask for supremacy, but that line which need to exist between being human and a doormat. .
I watched the whole episode in constant fear that Kanak might appear from somewhere and sit in the pooja, for she had drunk that water, and was 'pure' now. I loved the way Kanak stood up for herself, she made it clear that her family might not be this dharmic but still they have values and self respect is important. She refuses to drink and turns away from the success that lay in the bowl, the water that reflected Uma. Massi jumps on her and takes of the necklace, she tried her ancient trick that 'every girl desires jewels' and Kanak for that piece of jewelry might think about her decision. Uma as ever looked only in one direction, straight ahead, avoiding Kanak, his expressions tell two tales one of betrayal and other of helplessness. Betrayal that Kanak rejected him in front of char log or helplessness that he can't do anything against dharm.
Kanak meets shiv, he asks her to come along for the pooja but Massi takes him away and Kanak is left alone.
Life is interesting, what's goes around comes around. Uma today was left with a picture of his wife, instead of her own being, despite being in that same house. This is his karma, slapping him in the face, that dude this you did to other person now face it yourself. What happened with Payal was a crime, an abhorrent life sentence but her revenge wasn't one bit sweet today. It was just revenge. I couldn't find satisfaction in her revenge against US. What I could see was a conniving woman, for whom only the position matters, jewels matter. It might be revenge against US, but in the process she made an innocent suffer, Kanak was shattered, her tears couldn't make you uncomfortable... hence your revenge also remains tasteless.
I don't understand how when or whether Kanak had accepted Uma as her husband, this family as hers... but today she was pushed to a limit, she broke, she fell, she got hurt, she cried but she is still there. She wanted Uma to stand for her, it's as every wife wants, no matter how independent a lady is, husbands support is always required, especially in front of in laws. It's a husbands dharm, his responsibility to respect his wife so others can follow example. Kanak unconsciously expected support and help from Uma, she was hurt but not surprised by his behavior. Because she knows the importance he places on women in his life. Uma again has fallen from her grace, not that he was ever there but still one has that idea/notion that this is a human being. But Uma failed her today. Kanak failed in her dasi dharm task but there are others and she is more determined to achieve her goal now, for now she has realized that no matter how much she does, they can never fully appreciate her worth or effort. She has made up her mind to focus on the shop rather than living up to their expectations. - I want Kanak to stand on her feet, for herself, her respect, her right... but please let her remain sensible, calm and sober.
Payal might have won the round but she lost herself in the battle. But Kanak lost but won herself.. aur jo haar kar bhi jeet jaye usse bazigar kehte hai 😉
