yes true say.. can we then conclude ,that she is a strong young woman.. tough and resilient.. far from being molly coddled.. she has conditioned herself into one motive! goal! get bhabo's papers, it will buy her granny's love.. before ,uma and his lot.. she will and does play the part to acvhieve what she came to get!

All together, Uma did bad, but he is not as evil as Kanak thinks he is. He has his values and morals caught in a web of traditions that makes him do unimaginable things for a modern girl like Kanak and stops any communication between the two of them, but he surely doesn't mean harm. Sometimes, I feel that it's more to him that it meats the eye, other times he seems robotic in his actions. I think we see only the surface, the writers wants us to see what Kanak sees, so we are on the same journey with her to discover who Uma Shankar and his family are. Like in Jane Eyre , we find out the secrets of the castle when she finds out.
