After Remix return of Shweta Gulati to Star One with Zara Nach Ke Dikha

Star One's new reality show- Zara Nach Ke Dikha has started from this week. The show is being hosted by the two famous characters of the channel- Karan Singh Grover or Dr. Armaan of serial Dil Mil Gaye and Shweta Gulati or Tia of serial Remix.
Where Karan Singh Grover has a long list of fans, Shweta Gulati's popularity chart is also not small. The actress has worked in the hit show of the channel- Remix where she portrayed one of the four main leads of the serial- Tia Ahuja.
When the channel was launched Remix was one of the initial starter programs of the channel. It was totally a youth oriented serial which was liked very much by the audiences especially by the youngsters. Its main lead stars- Tia (played by Shweta Gulati), Ranveer(played by Karan Wahi) , Anvesha or Ashi (played by Priya Wal) and Yuvraj or Yuvi (played by Raj Singh Arora) are still being remembered by many of Remix's fans.
Though Shwet had done many serials and ad campaigns before Remix gave her recognition in true sense. That's why she is still remembered as Tia.
After Remix, Shweta worked in some more projects like Pyar Ke Do Naam- Ek Radha Ek Shaam, Amber- Dhara etc. but nothing benefited her like Remix.
And now this beautiful actress will be seen as a host in Star One's dance reality show- Zara Nach Ke Dikha. In the show along with hosting the show Shweta will favor the girl's team while Karan will favor the boy's team so the viewers can enjoy the khatti- meethi nok jhonk of these tellywood super stars on the show.

Tiny tots on Zara Nachke Dikha

Some have Rakhi Sawant to add the much required zing on the show and others introduce unexpected talent to be a notch higher than the rest. In an attempt to be unique, Star One has roped in the youngest talent ever on a reality show.

Sweeni Khare currently seen in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Amey Pandya (Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kesar) both aged 9 are a part of the channel's upcoming reality show Zara Nachke Dikha, slated to air in July. The two kids will match their steps with other 14 celebs like Narayani Shastri , Jennifer Winget, Delnaz Paul, Mouni Roy, Karishma Tanna, Rupali Ganguly, Maninee De who constitute the female wagon and Bhakhtiyar Irani, Ali Asghar, Chaitanya Chawdhury, Amit Tandon, Gaurav Chopra (http://www.tellychakkar.com/y2k8/jun/10jun/news_gaurav.php), Manish Goel, Vikas Sethi in the male wagon.

Sweeni who can't wait to showcase her talent says, "Dancing is my hobby. I had started learning kathak when I was in the 2nd standard. I am going to show everyone that girls are the best."

Amongst all, her favourite co-participants are Karishma Tanna and Rupali Gamguly.

Amey who is in the 5th standard says, "It feels great to be the youngest of the lot. I am looking forward to matching my steps with the rest of the team. I can't wait to show them our mettle. I too have learned dancing."

Well all of those who are thinking about their studies, the rehearsals require just 2 hours a week and they carry books on the sets.

Arun and Chetan who choreographed for Aamir and Sanjeeda (Nach Baliye 3 winners) will be choreographing for the boys and Bindi and Vishnu (choreographers for Bhaktiyar and Tanaaz in Nach Baliye 2) will choreograph for the girls.

'Catch them young' may be a good philosophy but isn't age 9 way too young for the pressures of a reality show?

Malaika obesses about Makeup

It is no secret that Malaika is sexy, beautiful and all that but not many know that she is obsessed with her beauty.

She is known to give attention to minutest details of her looks but during the shoot of Zara Nachke Dikha there was no end to her make – up session. When the entire cast and crew of Zara… was ready to roll she was still in her vanity van, getting ready. Malaika who sits on the judge's panel in the show, entered the set with a roller on her head. The roller was taken off just when the camera began to roll.

Then came the break and after chatting with a few co-stars, Malaika was back to her vanity van, in front of the mirror. If the crew members of the show are to be believed, she makes sure that she always looks her best and every strand of her hair is in the right place.

Now you know why the actress always looks as if she has just got out of the beauty salon.

Chunky and Ali fight club

The boy's team in Zara Nachke Dikha is going through a rough patch. One after the other members from the boy's team is being sent to the penalty bench and the boys are reportedly unhappy with the judges' comments and decisions. Now it is heard that the captain of the boy's team Ali Asgar has some friction with judge Chunky Pandey.

The buzz has it that Chunky Pandey is unhappy with the way Ali Asgar is handling his team. On the other hand Ali feels that Chunky should not interfere with the team's strategies and decisions.

Wanting to know more on the differences between Chunky and Ali we spoke to both the parties.

An agitated Ali Asgar informed, "According to him (Chunky Pandey), I am not a good captain. He feels that I used my lifeline of calling back Manish Goel from the penalty bench quite late. He feels that I haven't taken the right decisions. Many a times, the judgments were not fair and my team mates wanted to voice it. But I always honoured their decisions and made sure that my team mates don't question the judge's decision. He is the wittiest guy I have ever come across but I disagree with him on certain things. When there was a competition round between Chaitanya and Mouni, he said that Mouni is going to kill Chaitanya even before the performance took place. How could he say that?"

Chunky sounded diplomatic yet defensive when he said, "Being a boy, I support the boy's team. Whatever I say, I say for their benefit. I just felt that there are many people influencing Ali's decisions though he is a smart guy. His team is an aggressive type and it is not easy to handle people like Bakhtiar Irani. Hats off to him for that. Ali is a sweet guy and we have worked together earlier as well. I was simply giving him advice from an outsider's perspective."

Tsk Tsk. Grow up guys. This is just a show.

Boys turn beautiful on Zara Nachke Dikha!

by Vidhya Krishnan

Sep 08, 2008, Bangalore

What happens when three handsome boys decide to beat girls at their own game? The upcoming episode of Zara Nachke Dikha has the answer as Gaurav Chopra, Chaitanya Choudhary and Bakhtyaar Irani turn up in their feminine best! After the performance, judge Chunky Pandey went to the extent of saying, "I want to pack Gaurav Chopra and take him home; he is looking so pretty". We caught up with a rather embarrassed Chaitanya to find out what the whole deal was.

So, how was it being a girl?
Not easy at all considering that we had to slip into a swim suit. I was totally not for it but Bakhtiyar convinced me and Gaurav. We agreed only because Bakhtiyar had come up with some brilliant ideas in the past. It took us 45 minutes to slip into the costume. It was a first for me and Gaurav but it wasn't so for Bakhtiyar. It was really embarrassing dancing like a girl. We vanished immediately after our performance.

Any catcalls?
It got very embarrassing with the comments that were made. I would not mention all of them but one of them was somebody saying that I don't look all that bad as a girl. I hate it. I felt so awkward.

Was it a perfect 10 for the guys?
We just performed our best and tried to stave off the pressure. We were prepared to be uncomfortable and embarrassed. We tried to be as believable as possible but the stress showed up in our dance it seems. We were told by the judges that we could have been a bit more feminine.

Will he do it again?
An actor needs to be open for different roles and if I get to do something like this in the future, professionally I may do it.

Dancing Queen blanked out

She says, "My toes were uprooted before the performance. However, then I took pain killers so it did feel better for a moment. So I went ahead with the performance but in midst again I could not budge. I was not blanked out because I forgot the steps or something like that."

Asked about injury, she reveals, "I am getting better however for at least a week I have to sit out of the show. I can't perform because of the damage. Nevertheless, I will make my comeback next time so watch out for that."

What is your take on the bikini act by boys? "I don't think there was anything extraordinary. I feel it wasn't tastefully done. And frankly speaking, personally too I didn't like the act. There was a lot of co-ordination lacking between guys in the act."

Get well soon Narayani

Mr Super Cool

Karan Singh Grover

Karan Singh Grover aka ?Mr super cool? (courtesy Shweta Gulati) is a chilled out and easy going person. The hot and handsome Karan has girls swooning over his looks and his tattoos.

A Hotel Management graduate Karan was working at the Sheraton in Muscat when he suddenly thought of participating in the Gladrags Man hunt contest. From thereon, he started a career in modelling and today he is the heartthrob of television. The actor cum host doesn?t believe in planning and prefers to live in the moment.

Karan has been seen acting in shows like Kasauti?, Dill Mill Gayee and now as a host on Zara Nachke Dikha. Over the years Karan has gathered a strong female fan base and is now riding high on the wave of popularity.

met up with Karan to get an insight into his life.

You have mentioned that you are not really comfortable hosting Zara? and you are not used to a teleprompter. Do you find the job of hosting difficult?

I wasn?t comfortable initially but now I am comfortable. It is a part of the game.
It is a lot of fun. It is like a vacation though it gets tiring at times. If I am happy doing something, I keep doing it no matter how tedious it gets.

How is Shweta Gulati as a co-host?

She is an awesome co-host and an awesome friend. She is a lot of fun. She is always supportive and helpful. We get along really well. I feel like I am paired up with a friend. It is really nice.

Many contestants from the boy?s team in Zara? have repeatedly felt that the judges Malaika and Chunky give wrong judgments?

I don?t think the judges are biased but the judge?s job is a bit difficult. Whatever they feel, they mark accordingly. We have to stay calm, value and honour the judge?s decision.

If one participant gets lesser marks than the other, the former tends to react in a negative way. If I was in their situation, I would have probably reacted in the same way. Logic doesn?t really strike at that point of time. So I would say that the boys reacted like any other contestant would.

Would you ever participate in a reality show?

I am open to whatever comes along and when I feel like taking up something from the core of my heart, I take it up. I love dancing though. I am bad at following dancing instructions but when the dance is left on me entirely, I can dance really well.

How is it being brought up in Saudi Arabia and now living in Mumbai?

Living in Mumbai is a lot of fun. Saudi Arabia is a place where you should go only when you retire. Mumbai is completely different from the rest of the world. I am glad that I don?t have to go there again.

Do you take advice from girlfriend Shradha Nigam who has been around in the industry for a longer time?

I do not take any decision before consulting Shradha and it is the same with her. After returning from every meeting, I have a chat with her. Whether it is a professional or a personal decision, we always consult each other.

Having a degree in catering, do you cook for her?

No, that is one of her biggest complaints. I don?t get time to cook but I have promised her that I will soon cook for her. On the contrary, she has cooked for me a couple of times.

What are the qualities that your ideal wife should have?

She should be supportive and understanding. I am someone who needs constant support. She should also be a happy, easy going person. Basically, every quality of Shraddha is the quality that I look for, in my ideal wife.

Do you guys talk marriage?

Yes, we do but we don?t have any such plans as of now. When we do, you will come to know.

Staying away from home do you miss your family?

Currently, my parents are living in Delhi. I speak to them on and off but I don?t get to meet them very often. I just meet them once in a couple of months.

What do they feel about their actor son?

They feel very proud. My father is very excited about me. He surfs the net and most of the times, it is he who answers my fan mails. He tells me what girls are saying to me in the mail and when they don?t like a particular shirt that I wore. More than me, he is excited about my profession.

Where do you want to head from here?

I want to do films. There are a few things in the pipeline which I can?t talk about.

It is said that over- exposed television actors find it difficult to get a break in films.

That is something I have heard too but I have always come against all odds in my life. When I started my modelling and acting career, I was told that I don?t have the ?boy next door? kind of look, my features are just too sharp, I am too muscular, I have tattoos, etc. But today I am here. The most difficult phase was when I was modelling. You see I am not really tall, so I used to be told that I have a sweet face and I should try acting rather than modelling.

Acting was difficult as at that time, I couldn?t even speak Hindi properly. Most of my life, I was surrounded by Malayalis, Hyderabadis and Americans, so I had a different accent. I couldn?t emote in Hindi. That made acting very difficult for me.
