a couple of days ago i sent my son (3years) into a room b/c he had hit my daughter (a year old) in the face. so off he goes into the room crying at the top of his lungs. meanwhile my dad comes by and tries to get him out. i told him that i was disciplining him and that he should let me do what i want.......he had made my daughter's lip bleed! sure he's only 3 but this is the only way he's going to learn right from wrong right?

and i think grandparents have every right to discipline their grandchildren. i mean they were good enough to discipline me right?

Jalebi, To your post my reply was I have no problem with grandparents disciplining children but I agree with you on them interfering when parents are disciplining their children. I already said that I don't accept that.

Bold part and that is true irrespective of who is interfering... if mom is discipling and dad has soft words in favor of kiddo or vice versa same applies, right?

Ends up with how such situation can be managed, either politely telling the interferer, can u please hang on and ask the kiddo.. lets go in ur I wanna talk or giving an eye to kiddo (that he/she understands ur point more) or someother way 😛

Parents should always remain united in front of the child or the interferers. If mom is disciplining the child and dad does not agree with it or vice a versa please let that situation finish. Do not correct mom in front of child. Discuss it between a couple in privacy of their room. Keep united front and resolve differences in private. This is how kids or interferers-intruders find ways to manipulate situations.

Yes, It is. But aren't we here talking about grandparents interfering? Esp. Jalebi's example where she was talking about her father.

I don't have a personal grudge against grandparents and if you have read my previous posts then you might have also read that anyone interfering when a parent is discipling is wrong.

Just because parents may not want grand parents unneccessary interfere in disciplining their kids does not mean they do not love & respect their parents. They still want grand parents active role in GC lives. But not as pests but as grand parents aought to be 😃

as a parent it sometimes gets annoying getting criticized about what you do with your kids. my hubby's aunt was in town for a few days and she went on to accuse me of not giving my kids enough food.....basically that i wasn't paying much attention to what they ate. and out of respect i couldn't tell her off 😆 but it really made me angry to hear that.

and then i've even had ppl trying to tell me not to put the kids in a car seat so we don't have to take two cars if we're going somewhere. that we'll just hold the kids in our laps. 😕
