Shah Rukh gets 'fighting' fit!

Well, if our boys in blue have failed to get the Cricket World Cup, our Bollywood stars could be taking over soon. If you didn't know, making a film needs you to be fighting fit, and when you're starring in a film on sports, God help you. As Shah Rukh found out recently while shooting for his film Chak De India, where he's playing a hockey coach to a women's team. Apparently, the actor felt on top of the world with all the exercise he got, running around on the field with the girls. "I've realized that you need to be extremely fit when you're playing a sport at that level," is his take on the experience. Now if you thought being an actor was a cakewalk, think again!

Not inviting the Khans to the wedding signals the confirmation of a battle between Amitabh and the Khans. Excuses that it was a small wedding do not hold, Jaya Bachchan has said several times that Shahrukh is like a son to her, then why invite so many others and ignore your son? Simple, Amitabh is not ready to accept the success of the King Khan. Salman was not invited for obvious reasons, but he teamed up with his buddy on KBC to show that they are now united.

Shahrukh must be hurt by being left out in this manner, this is something that would have touched him in the heart because it is an empty feeling when people so close do things like this. The number one Don and the best KBC host was neglected because the Big B knows that his kingdom is under threat by the one and only, the number one Shahrukh Khan. But then again, why would Devdas be invited to Paaro's wedding?

SRK's OSO goes for the biggest one!

SRK has surely benefited from the corporate war to acquire big films at fancy prices.

His OSO has been acquired by Adlabs for 82 Crores for all the rights related to the film right from theatrical, satellite, music, overseas and all other rights.

The highest money offered to any film till date was for SALAAM-E-ISHQ which went for 44 Crores to Eros.

SRK's last film MAIN HOON NA had also created a record during its time when it went for 5 crores only for Mumbai circuit, highest at that time!

DDLJ continues to run and Om Shanti Om is red hot

King Khan has other reasons to celebrate as while the mother of jubilee films DDLJ completed its 600th week in Mumbai with collection of approx 30,000 his Om Shanti Om is red hot in distribution circles and the talk of the industry. A song was shot for seven days which featured nearly the whole industry with legends like Dharmendra and Mithun Chakraborty to today's superstars Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan participating along with Shahrukh Khan in the song. It is reported that 29 stars are in the song. This has created sky high expectations and the film may well break records when released in Nov/Dec 2007.

Shah Rukh, Salman in Abhi-Ash wedding?

by Debasis Jana

No, no, the Bollywood Khans were not physically present in yesterday's wedding. As you know, Bachchans have not invited the Khans. But as per source, at the sangeet party, the Bachchans and Rais quite enjoyed dancing to the popular numbers of Khans. The to-be bride and groom also had no reservation dancing to the numbers. The eventful sangeet party, which happened till the wee hours, however had virtual presence of the Khans. Besides Khans, there were many other big stars, who hadn't got invitation for Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding – Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherji are few of them.

I knew most of the answers too: Shah Rukh Khan

By Subhash K Jha

Shah Rukh is about to take a long-due sabbatical. "I want to take time off with my kids, and also work on a project that's very precious to me. I want our production company to become truly FX-savvy. "

Shah Rukh is currently looking at various creative and business options for this cherished project. "When I am asked what next, then I guess this is what I want to do next. This is where my heart is at the moment. I want our FX to be comparable with the best in the world. Dhoom 2 and Don got it right. I want to take the optical illusions even further."

As excited as ever, SRK says, "For me there're no real challenges. I need to create them."

Shah Rukh has been in too many places at the same time. His hugely enjoyable stint on KBC is over. "I'm just about done with all the episodes. I had myself a good time, I don't know about the others," he jokes. "But I wouldn't mind returning with another season. Let' s see, talks are on."

Talk veers to contestants with acting cocky or nervous on the show. "It happens…I took it all in my stride. For example the lady who chose to say she wasn't a fan of mine. That's her choice and I respect it. She was a school teacher and probably thought of actors in a particular way. I respect that.

What is there to get upset about it? Incidentally she spoke to me after the show and explained her point of view to me. I was also asked why I gave away watches to some contestants who were eliminated and not to others. My watches, my choice I guess."

But Shah Rukh was very clear about the motive and purpose behind his interactions on KBS. "I wanted the contestants to carry back that experience with them as a special one.

Otherwise there would be no real purpose behind the exercise. Yes, I knew most of the answers to the questions. But when I didn't, I made sure I asked Siddharth Basu (he and I go back a long way to the time both of us did English theatre together in Delhi) or someone else on the sets.

Yes, KBC was fun. I like my work to be fun, and I make sure it is. Which is I don't want to do the kind of films I don't enjoy watching. With due respects, I don't want to be in the so-called offbeat films. I'd rather do my enjoyable stuff. Farah's film Om Shanti Om which I'm now shooting is again a lot of fun.

Shah Rukh is making his choices really well at the moment. Family gets top priority. "I decided to see you now while my son has gone to his friend's birthday party."

We're in Shah Rukh's newly done-up office. And Shah Rukh is looking as boyish, exuberant and ultra-energetic as the last time I met him. He now needs to take a break….But with a specific purpose.

"I want to spend the next three months honing up the F-X in our production house. Have you seen films like 300 ? That's the level of special effects we should be aiming at. And I'm going to go for it," says Shah Rukh with characteristic enthusiasm.

There are innumerable activities awaiting his attention. But Shah Rukh has the ability to make it all look disarmingly basic and simple.

"Sooner or later everything does come together. And there's no point in fretting over. I lost both my parents very young. That made me kind of fearless about life and death. Now I fear for those who are close to me.

I fear for what such a loss would do to my friends. My father was a freedom fighter. He gave a lot to his country. Now it's my turn… but with the added perk of getting recognition in return."

He then pauses. " People say I've gone through a lot. And that the health and other setbacks are God's way of equalizing my success, stardom, whatever. I think that's rubbish. God doesn't have an accounts department.

I don't think my neck injury was in reaction to the successes I've had. …Now I'm asked, what next? Frankly I've no clue. My journey hasn't been mapped or planned. Whatever had to happen has happened."

Coming up, another book on Shah Rukh this time by journalist Anupama Chopra.

Says Shah Rukh, "It's a journey through Indian cinema in recent decades as seen through my career. Interesting and insightful because of the amount of rigorous research Anupama has taken on. I'm still amazed at the amount of interest my work generates.

Either we talk about these interesting aspects of cinema vis--vis my career. Or sensational quotes comparing me to Changez Khan or unnecessarily harping on my so-called differences with Mr Bachchan can be attributed to me. The choice is entirely yours."

Shah Rukh also has his own memoirs on the anvil. "I've been working on that for some time. But I feel the need to add new chapters constantly. I'll just have to find a place to stop it."

Shah Rukh: I want to take optical illusions further

Orissa wants KBC apology for wrong info on poet

Sandeep Mishra
[22 Apr, 2007 l 0101 hrs ISTlTIMES NEWS NETWORK>

BHUBANESWAR: The Orissa government on Saturday lodged a strong protest with a private TV channel for "disseminating wrong information" about saint-poet Jayadev through its popular game show Kaun Banega Crorepati-III .

In the game show's April 16 episode, anchor and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan mentioned that Jayadev, who composed "Geeta Gobinda", worked in the court of Bengal ruler Laxman Sen.

This has not gone down well with several culture-conscious people of the state, as researchers have, after a long debate, accepted that Jayadev was born at Kenduli village in Puri district. They said the poet, in the mediaeval times, had dedicated his life composing and singing hymns in praise of Jagannath.

The state government, in a letter to the producers of KBC-III, said the description of Jay-adev as a court-poet of Laxman Sen has "hurt the sentiments of the people in Orissa" because he (Jayadev) had never worked in any court.

"Such utterances by Shahrukh are unacceptable. The team of KBC should do proper research before placing any historical fact because the gameshow is very popular and can mislead a complete generation," said culture minister S N Patro. "Historians and researchers have proved that Jayadev was born at Kenduli village. Though he wrote in Sanskrit, he was a pure Oriya and never served in any court," Patro added.

"We want the channel to beam the fact in its next episode and also tender an apology," he said. The government's letter came a day after celebrations of birth anniversary of the legendary poet.
