The price of luxury bags

poor employee work conditions

case study Dior & Armaani.

What’s your take on these designer bags and working conditions? Do you personally buy luxury designer bags?
As a consumer, when you make a purchase, do you prioritise the brand or the quality of the product? How much weight do you give to each factor when making your decision? (Vijay’s question)

Luxury bags are very expensive for several reasons. First, they are made by skilled workers who put a lot of effort into making sure each bag is perfect. The materials used, like high-quality leather and rare fabrics, are also very costly. Additionally, the brand names themselves add value. Dior and Armani are famous brands with a long history, and this reputation makes their products more desirable. These brands also spend a lot of money on marketing and creating a luxurious shopping experience for their customers.

Big companies should work on improving the working conditions of the employees who make these bags. However, these problems are not unique to luxury brands like Dior and Armani. Poor working conditions and low wages are issues found in many industries and companies around the world.

By the way, an interesting discussion could be: As a consumer, when you make a purchase, do you prioritise the brand or the quality of the product? How much weight do you give to each factor when making your decision?

Quality and reliability, both will play a vital role while buying a product. For that, many people prefer to pay higher prices to ensure their distinctiveness!! Certain type of consumers want products or services that are of high quality and reliable. They seek assurance that what they are buying will meet their expectations and perform as promised. Price is a significant consideration for most consumers.

When a customer chooses one brand over another regularly, this is called their brand preference. In other words, they have gotten familiar with the competitors, maybe even tried a few products from different brands, and made a choice that they found this brand the best.

Significance. The likelihood that a customer would select a product or service increases with its uniqueness and relevance. That shows a significant behavioral impact, many people try to maintain their social status through their choicest products.

I focus on quality over brand when buying designer bags, but ethical considerations about employee conditions also matter to me.

Quality matters but I will never spend that price for a hand bag. I also do not buy or use leather.
