Btw, BRChopra made Ramayan? That too with Smriti Irani? That too without blouse?

Oh boy it exists. I just googled and found this. I had no idea BRC made Ramayan too.😳🫣

😲Some people are made for some roles. Even though this poster shows Ram and Sita, I can only see Sri Krishna and young Tulsi Virani. 😆

They made a film which was an interpretation of a sacred text yes, but it is a story none the less and is open to adaptation…don’t agree with it and trash it that’s fine ….they don’t deserve this kind of personalised venom that’s for sure …

How did films like Kashmir files and Kerla story become such big hits then If the alternative narrative u have here about “oh but the other religion would have not spared a bad depiction of their beliefs” was true?

Clearly those films didn’t show a specific religion in positive light but still went on to be accepted by the masses right?

This isn’t some contest about “who gets more offended at cinematic depictions of their religious beliefs” that we are trying to win here

Apples & pineapples. Those 2 movies showed what happened to Hindus in 2 ends of the country at different times in history. And there was enough intimidation of theaters that dared carry those movies or moviegoers who went to see them. Even w/ your strawman argument, that fails

The hypothetical that I drew would be an identical parallel to what was done here. In this movie, they pretty much blasphemed Shri Rama, Hanuman-ji and those around them, who you may not care much for but who are sacred to all Vaishnavs, if not other Hindus. Clearly, the makers of this movie didn't fear physical intimidation, and nor should there be. But if this had been done in the example I cited, you'd have had riots & random murders all over the country even greater than what happened after Nupur Sharma's TV appearance. So please don't engage in sophistry & try to pretend that one of these situations is like the other

True. Only Rama's I personally liked were Gurmeet Chaudhary and Ashish Sharma. Talking here just about the casting: Siya ka Rama was a joke, as anyone who saw that serial can attest

I never saw BRC's Ramayan, but didn't care for his Mahabharat, which I call "Mahabhashan", where everyone from Bheeshma down to a minor at Varnavarta specializes in headache inducing bhashans

Hasn’t Manoj Muntashir the writer of the movie asked for police protection due to the backlash? Besides I don’t think the makers of this movie had the intention to tarnish Lord Ram or any one else. It’s pretty clear as to what their intention was. It was the exact opposite as they have made clear through several interviews and also the long list of politicians they thanked. It’s just that it’s a badly made film hence has tanked. Both Kashmir files and Kerela story had huge political support so not sure what intimidation you are talking about. Personally both these movies were badly made as well but I guess it’s easier to hate than to appreciate.

The straw man argument is defined as an imaginary situation (what if this was made on xxx religion) that is raised to deflect the argument (makers don’t deserve vitriol and hate of this magnitude) …

A classic example of a straw man argument is the hypothetical u originally raised in response to my post….fyi.

If the makers didn’t fear intimidation, that’s normal…and a good thing …not something to “fix”…that’s what happens in a normal society …

they just showed a shoddy, badly made, and an overall badly written adaptation of the ramayan…there were some silly dialogues that didn’t feel dignified for the characters …but from what I can see, Shri ram, hanuman ji, sita , vanar sena , vibhishan we’re all shown as righteous people who theoretically everyone should root for as they are the heros…the entire film echos jay shree ram throughout and characters repeatedly praise ram and hanuman…there is not a single moment where u feel they were in the wrong…so I don’t really see any blasphemy there ….raavan and lanka depiction was inaccurate and not nuanced (raavan has many layers other than just being evil) …none of these are “offensive”…they were “badly done” so the reactions are not justified …

And even if I was offended, there is no way in hell I would pass hate , threats and vitriol and justify that in the garb of “I was offended”…no one appointed us the gatekeepers of our faith …we practice is for our own peace of mind , sanctity and spiritual awakening …not to gain control or higher moral ground in society ….

Thank God at least you remember Gurmeet's Rama. Poor guy had to make a tweet to make his presence felt, as people only remembered RS and Yugo Sako's Ramayan in this chaos. 🤣 I liked his Ramayan too. Maybe because I was younger in his times and was able to comprehend the story well. Besides both Rama and Sita looked absolutely beautiful..❤️ I wish to see Siya Ke Ram, only to know how they hv portrayed Sita ji, as all Ramayans or Mahabharats have always downplayed the women's characters.. but have always heard very mixed reviews about it.

I liked BRC Mahabharat too especially Krishna's scenes & the dohas, but u r quite right about Bheeshma. I remember he used to sit in a dark room and went on and on about how he is so helpless because of his pratigya. 🤣 20 minutes discussing the same topic. Next to him was Dhritarashtra.. That poor Vidura, who was such a logical person beside Krishna, had to bear both of them & their rants. 🤣
