The popularity of Kdramas has been steadily increasing over the past few years, with shows like "Crash Landing on You" and "Itaewon Class" making waves in the international market. The reason behind this surge in popularity can be attributed to the excellent storytelling, talented actors, and captivating cinematography.

One of the key features of Kdramas is the emphasis on family values and relationships. Many shows highlight the importance of family and the sacrifices that parents make for their children. The characters in these shows also demonstrate the significance of loyalty, trust, and forgiveness in relationships.

For example, in the show "Reply 1988," the story revolves around a group of families living in a neighborhood in Seoul. The show portrays the different struggles and challenges faced by each family, and how they come together to support and help each other. The show emphasizes the importance of family unity and the unconditional love that parents have for their children.

Another common theme in Kdramas is self-discovery and personal growth. Many characters in these shows go through challenging experiences that push them out of their comfort zones, forcing them to face their fears and weaknesses. This journey of self-discovery is often portrayed as a key element in achieving personal growth and success.

In the show "Itaewon Class," the main character, Park Saeroyi, faces numerous challenges in his life, including losing his father and being wrongfully imprisoned. Despite these obstacles, he perseveres and starts his own restaurant, which eventually becomes a huge success. Through his journey, he learns the importance of hard work, determination, and perseverance.

Kdramas also provide an insight into Korean culture and traditions. These shows often showcase the beauty of Korean landscapes and landmarks, and also highlight the country's rich history and traditions. This exposure to Korean culture has led to an increased interest in Korean language, music, and fashion among international fans.

Furthermore, Kdramas also challenge societal norms and gender roles. Many shows feature strong female leads who defy gender stereotypes and challenge the traditional role of women in society. This representation of empowered women has been an inspiration to many female viewers around the world.

In conclusion, Kdramas have a significant impact on audiences worldwide, not only in terms of entertainment but also in terms of the values and lessons they impart. These shows offer a unique perspective on family values, personal growth, Korean culture, and gender roles. Kdramas are not just a form of entertainment, but also a source of valuable lessons and inspiration.

Apart from the themes discussed earlier, Kdramas also explore societal issues such as class divide, corruption, and mental health. The shows often depict the struggles of ordinary people in the face of these challenges and highlight the need for social justice and equality.

For example, the show "Sky Castle" revolves around the lives of wealthy families living in a luxurious neighborhood in Seoul. Koreans have done a fine work in promoting their shows. The kPop groups have done even better. There is a sharp hike in Indians learning Korean language as well.  I used to think if came up with limited series may be Indian tv producers could do a good job as well. But their OTT performance made me loose hope. ðŸ˜† Someday may be some day perhaps our television will make us proud too.. ðŸ¤“

100%   . I wish we cud make such wonderful shows but I doubt ..we're stuck with politics violence thrillers  nudity ..just swinging between extremes  ..when did we lose track of what love is and how to make good love stories ? It's been a while I've seen  good one on Indian TV.

U forgot 2 mention the heavy, unnecessary, uneeded, unrealistic abusivity. 😆 They should have cashed in the opportunity that came in form of OTT.  I am not opposed to realistic stories, but simple stories with some feel-good factor is surely missing. That said I hope now they never cry that this is the only content that audience likes to watch & we can't do anything. They have nothing to offer & it shows.

Agree to this.

Sucks that most of our shows have unrealistic violence, abuse. Our OTT space seriously lacks in diverse genres. If anything kdramas popularity in India proves that we have an audience for genres other than neo noir(I blame anurag kashyap.. Lol).
