He isnt , he just stood for the singers right of royalties and illegal contracts singers were made to sign ,....he declined major films like KICK , Yeh Jawani Hai Dewani , Heropanti, Main Tera Hero in 2013 only he sung in all these films  , but he was asked to sign the contracts to get his songs released , he took a firm stance went agaisnt T Series and in return all Sonu songs were dubbed by T Series, now by 2023, with all the Tussle in the past 10 years Bhushan Kumar himself had to take Sonu Nigam in his projects now , like Kartik's Shezada a T Series project , Sonu didnt asked for work ,yet he is singing the title song 

The screen presence  (as seen in the video below) that he had in Kahiin to Hoga (also in Left Right Left as Captain Rajveer Shikawat), makes everyone wonder that too. Especially after the national and international rage he became with Sujal's character.

I think it goes to say that though big producers knew of him, they didn't approach him as he wasn't of the industry. The only big producer that approached him was SLB for a major film back in Rajeev's prime. He was bound by contract to not make himself available for any films while shooting for SLB's but that film got scrapped. Apart from that, Rajeev has worked with his share of medicore production houses (quite a few with UTV Spotboys).

But it goes on to say that the craze for B-town among top guns in TV should be taken with a lot of thought! We had Barun recently fail, who was a big name in TV too (though not even close to the range of acting that Rajeev displayed). Rajeev still is a BIG name in TV, unparalled I would say of his kind. Just that BW is not as easy, the grass is not always greener on the other side. There's time, opportunities, luck, favor... all that needs to coincide for a TV actor to come in the limelight in BW.

^^ To add to my point, the bigger a TV name you are, the harder for you to crack through that image to make it in BW. Huge TV stars have fans but also strong prototype they build, that gets harder to crack when starting new in BW. Producers in BW needs those that are a bit meshable, who don't have an established image in TV but as easily moulded into a BW product.

Example Mrunal - she was average & easily passable in TV, so with her BW stints, she actually did much better in BW as a medium comparatively. But when you are the peak of TV, it gets hard or impossible to keep that momentum in BW, as it's a whole different Industry & playing field. You cannot beat an SRK or a Salman, Aamir, Hritik. 

So those with strong careers in TV, should stick to TV unless they're absolutely sure that they can replicate that same magic in BW. If not, their BW careers will always look like a failure compared to TV.

Rajeev was just too strongly esteemed in TV, for him to recreate that magic in BW. He should've known that. Jennifer Winget is smart. She's a veteren and quite successful in the TV industry, but knows that she can't replicate that in BW, so she sticks to TV.

I am not sure how true these could be as said, but KJo had a thing for him? (by Twinkle's own admission in KWK & other snippets of news) and having KJo as a network takes you places.

For Pakistani showbiz TV is more popular medium than movies. Now the time has slightly changed but 10 years back movies had minimum funding and equipment, technology, production house wagera bhi abhi hi develop rahe hai. 

Even now, TV industry is huge there and if the actors are giving hits in television (i assume) gets chances in movies. Unlike India where they get limited since the divide is huge and popularity is different for tv and movie star. 

One more thing, since the series are finite in pakistani dramas, ek suspence aur intazar star keliye bana hi rehta hai. 

Plus Pakistani movie industry to bani hi hai tele actors se as far as iknow.
