Sid'dhagandharva-yakṣādyairasurairamarairapi
Sēvyamānā sadā bhūyāt sid'dhidā sid'dhidāyinī

Siddhidhatri is the ninth form of Durga. She is also known as Mata Parvati.

A lot of pooja is done in her rememberance on the ninth day of Navaratri. She is considered as being the ninth incarnation and the last Goddess of the festival.

‘Siddhi’ means the ‘ability to make supernatural power’ and ‘Dhatri’ the meaning of giving ‘donor’. According to the Vedic scriptures, Goddess Siddhidhatri has a part of the body of Lord Shiva, thus it shows her importance and a sense of incredible strenght and power.

Goddess Siddhidatri is depicted to adorn four hands, each one carrying a discus, conch shell, mace, and lotus. She is sitting on a fully bloomed lotus or a lion. She wears a radiant red saree.

Along with such a strong physical appearance, she has eight supernatural powers which are commonly called as Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakambya, Ishitva and Vashitva and a last ninth power in the Goddess name.

The Saṃskṛta word दात्री = dātrī = giver should not be confused with the different word धात्री = dhātrī = nurse (often a wet-nurse). सिद्धिदात्री = Siddhidātrī is the giver of success, not its breastfeeder.

Apostrophes usually mark omitted letters, and have no function within conjunct consonants like द्ध = ddha.

Happy Vijay Dasami/ Dussehra

Dussehra marks the end of Navratri celebrations. The nine-day-long  festival of worshiping the feminine energy Shakti comes to an end with Dussehra. 😊 Also known as Vijaya Dashami, this day signifies the victory of good over evil.

On this day Maa Durga had killed demon king Mahisasura and saved the earth from his atrocities.

Best wishes for a happy Vijayadashmi  to all the IF members! May Goddess Durga grant all of your wishes and bestow upon you good health, success, and happiness.❤️

Happy Vijayā Daśamī to everyone!

Traditionally, this day is an occasion to purge negative tendencies such as arrogance (represented by Rāvaṇa whose death is celebrated today) and cross boundaries (sīmo'llaṅghana) to embrace the unfamiliar.
