He had a room reserved permanently for him at a hotel. So obviously he didn't use it only for sleeping purpose but a large section of the audience believed that he never touched them as in the first few episodes after the leap, when Sona ended up staying in the same hotel as him, he had a girl with him & he shrugged her off whenever she tried to touch with him inside the hotel room though he arrogantly flaunted her in front of Sona as his gf to show that he didn't care about her( Sona)🤪

He was so depressed after Sona left him that he started drinking & playing the casanova. Basically the meaningless flings with random girls was his way of dealing with the separation. He didn't allow them to come close to him emotionally. The makers actually kept it open ended for the audience to believe whatever they wished to in regards to him playing the field. Many believed it was just platonic relationship from his side with the random girls. The reason for this was that Dev had never even looked at a girl in the 28 years of his life prior to him falling in love with Sonakshi. Also even taking into account their utmost bitter separation & the galore of misunderstandings between them, the audience never ever doubted their love for each other. Even they reconciled, Dev only said that there was only Sona for him ever thus leaving it for the audience to interpret it as per their perception.

This separation was one phase when Dev was a completely broken man and he blamed both Ishwari😲 & Sona🙃 for it:- Ishwari for never trying to maintain a good relationship with the one person (Sonakshi, his wife) who was the most important to him while he had always tried to balance various relationship with all his family members including GKB's family. And Sona for leaving him when she knew how much he needed her & for having broken her promise to never leave him Btw it was him who had asked her to leave the house & also he was the reason, ( though the actual culprit was Vicky), the Bose family were evicted from their house & were rendered homeless. He used to stay away from Ishwari & the Dixit house for days altogether and drop in occassionally to check on Ishwari. And gloomy & lifeless Ishwari used to sit at the window for days like a discarded or forsaken woman waiting for her lover to grace his presence at the Dixit house.🤣The haunting hohohoho bgm used to be played whenever she was on the screen.😔 Ishwari who thought that she would get back her Dev after Sona's exit from his life was in for a rude shock as he was completely lost to her during this period except for the occasional visits to check on her wellbeing. lt was a befitting punishment for Ishwari who was the main cause of their separation. Also he had handed over the everyday management of his business to incompetent Vicky though fortunately he still retained the controls in his hands. The moment Sonakshi came back to Delhi, his random girlfriends all disappeared & he was back to stalking & staring at her the whole day when she used to share the office space with him.😆😅

Agree. Emotional cheating is also considered cheating. My point was that there was no way that he was roaming around considering that he did not cleared it up. I think He was definitely sleeping around. It would have been better if they have brought that issue in season 3. Blast from the past. It would have been intersting to see how dev would have justify all that chaeting he did on her. and how can his mother try to manipulate again. Sona is okay with all the cheatings but if she has done the same would dev be okay. Obviously no. he would have blamed her and his mother would have taunted her.

Bold part: When he suspected her relationship with her childhood friend, Jatin, he did blame her & angrily accused her of moving on with her life while he was still stuck in one place.

Dev, after their separation, was with multiple women. I know that a lot of fans are uncomfortable with this idea and think he was just 'chatting' with a lot of women!🙄🤣 But let's be honest here. Dev wasn't some teenager, who just watched a movie holding hands with a girl. A man in his 30s, meets a woman in a hotel room at night, with no interest in her personality, is not going to sit around chatting.

However, the truth is he was getting involved in physical relationships with women, without any emotion involved. Obviously, he loved Sona too much and never moved on from her. Anyone who tried to come close emotionally, he broke up right away, as he did to that woman in the hotel.

Yes, Sonakshi knows about this very well. She had seen him in the hotel with another woman. Later on, Elena tells about his 'girlfriends' and how he has been for 7 years. Sona feels bad, but Elena also mentions how he has only loved one woman in his life and can't ever love anyone else.

Sona confronts Dev with this as well. Dev, getting insecure seeing her with Jatin, lashes out at her. Sona calls him out on his hypocrisy, and says that she knows how many women he has been with in the past 7 years, so for him to get mad at Jatin and her is just hypocritical. Dev looks chagrined and tries to make it seem like he was only concerned about Suhana, but Sona sees right through him.

Personally, I don't consider having a mutually consenting physical relationship with an adult as taboo. But somehow, people on Twitter were taken aback, saying no no, Dev never did that!

He was sleeping around.

But in his defense, it's his life, and as far as he was concerned, Sona and he were separated forever. So he was trying to cope with a way he thought might work. (Obviously it didn't.)

Sona knew it and forgave him because that was a period where they weren't together. She understood that he couldn't have been expected to just sit around waiting for years and years. She said as much to Elena.

Dev had pretty much stopped being "Ishwari ka raja beta."

She just sat by the window and looked outside to see if he would come home. When he did, he didn't touch her feet also😂 More than Sona, ishwari was the forlorn lover 🤣🤣

Lol, a huge section of fangirls believe he was just dating.. I don't know what they think dating is, especially when emotions aren't involved.😂😂😂 Even more naive ones think, he just became very talkative with girls😂😂😂

Anyway, I don't hold it against Dev. I don't think it's cheating in the real sense. They may be still married on paper, but they were essentially broken up and single. He was not in a relationship with Sonakshi. Just a document cannot be a relationship. 7 years is a very long time.. Of course, if they had gone for a divorce, Sona could very well have used infidelity as a reason.

Dev himself accepts to his sleeping around to sonakshi in one of the episodes post their reconciliation. Dev wants to know what happened in sonakshi’s life in the last 7 years. When posed with the same question by sonakshi he so much as accepts his sleeping around by saying you know what I was doing, and people really thought he was chatting with those girls🤣🤣🤪

The only thing that was confusing was whether they were actually divorced during those 7 years. Sonakshi signs the prenuptial contract during their last encounter before the 7 year leap, which kind of was made to seem like divorce documents as well, which was makers way of justifying his sleeping around. Though it was really confusing because if they had actually divorced then they never got married post their reconciliation, so it was also implied that they were never divorced.

He accused her of being a cunning calculative gold digger who uses her beauty to trap men🤢 The whole dialogue about how beautiful her eyes are & how she knows how to capture men in their depth was sick to say the least 🤢 It might sound poetic, but he actually implied, no not implied, he pointedly told her that she captures men for her pleasure & plays with them. Like she played with him 7 years back. And if things don't work out with Yatin, she probably had someone else on standby as well. He not so subtly, called her a gold digger w****. He had accused her of the same thing on that fateful night they separated as well.

For the first time even I thought that maybe he was hurt & he was scared that she was moving on....but now that I look back & my rose tinted glasses are gone, I recognise it for what it was. Toxic masculinity trying to shame an independent woman whom he could not control anymore. It was an urge to hurt her born out of his frustration. He knew his words will hurt her & he still calculatively chose those words because he wanted to see her break, see her crumble, see her self confidence gone. He was satisfied to see tears brimming in her eyes & he rubbed it in with that "kya hua? Rona aa raha hai?" 🤢 That's how it had been before too (during the Ritvik phase). Whenever he couldn't control her, he tried to break her. I don't know how anyone convince themselves that it was love....but I feel, it was toxic relationship that involved power games & Dev went super destructive everytime he lost the power.

I didn't even understand how Sonakshi forgave him after all he said to her that night within the span of a day just because he was sulking away in some farmhouse. She even convinced him that he was not at fault & it was her who disappointed him. I mean how? 🤓 And later on she just came running back to him with a ton of sorries even though he NEVER apologized for the horrendous things he said to her. Forget apologizing, he never even bothered to admit he was wrong about her. She literally had no problem with whatever he thought of her. After that episode I don't understand or like Sonakshi all that much either. To me she seems to be an idiotic woman who doesn't know her worth & has completely discarded her sense of self-respect.

Exactly this ! Dev's actions are always justified , using ishwari as a shield but the real destruction is always caused by his callousness about her feelings and his ego. And that hasn't changed even now . The counselling scene just made me wanna puke . Her walking out on him hurt his ego. He's absolutely clueless on how alienated and helpless she felt at that point . As long as he has his favourite toy with him to cuddle , drive away and use as a punching bag at his convenience , his world is hunky Dory .

I know, it's just so funny! One girl took so much offense that I said he was sleeping around. She kept saying he was just chatting with women and no harm in chatting!😂 Also, I was also told that I don't understand Dev Dixit!🙄 I didn't argue any more, because obviously she must be very young, and I don't want to shatter her rosy illusions😂😂

They were not divorced. They were just separated. They never met after the farmhouse, not even to get an actual divorce. Ishwari confirms that they never divorced when she goes to ask the Boses to send Sona back home. Sona, after reconciliation, just comes back and they never bother with a remarriage drama, because they never were divorced. Also, just calling each other ex doesn't make them exes😂🙄

Prenuptial agreement was not divorce. That prenuptial agreement shown in the serial has no validity. Prenups are only valid if both the guy and the girl sign it and have it notarized and registered BEFORE MARRIAGE. So what Ishwari was holding on to, with only Dev's signatures were just pieces of paper, which can't hold up in a court of law at all. After marriage, they can't sign a PRENUPTIAL agreement. However, after marriage, modifications to that agreement can be done. Again, both have to sign and have it notarized and registered for it to have any validity.

Sona signed those prenup papers in anger, just to prove a point. It was just to show him, if he could do that, she could as well. That is it.

This is a huge complaint I have. Dev should have apologized for those horrible things that he said to her that night in the farmhouse. He should have apologized specifically for his piercing words, apart from the general apology.

How the makers conveniently forgot is just too much!
