Sonakshi was asked to leave! By her so called husband. Because she accidentally bumped into his mother after being pushed by him. She kept asking if he really wanted her to leave, she kept saying goodbyes, giving him time to change his mind....but he pointedly told her to leave.

And after his brother got her & her family thrown out on the street (which he didn't even deny), when she came to talk to him, he told her that -

1) she trapped him & then married him for his money

2) she was not a good wife

3) she was not a good bahu

4) It's her fault she cannot be a mother & she would have been a horrible mother anyway

5) she wrecked his home

6) marrying her was the biggest mistake of his life.

🤢

Going away was not her choice. She was kicked out, quite insensitively & ruthlessly. What should she have done instead? Dumped her family on the street & sit in dharna outside Dixit house? Was mental abuse not enough? Should she have given her patidev & his mother a chance to physically assault her as well? Was that why people were mad at her? 🤢

You don't believe I started with my BP issues. I couldn't understand how can they bash sona n defend him. I watched that episode 4 times, to see if i am wrong in understanding.

My poor husband thought my bp issue was bcoz of work pressure. He was advising me to take break. But I knew, how much it took toll on my health. Now I don't get attached to any show. It is not good for health.

OMG, same with me, i was so upset after that episode of their marriage broke up. forcibly went with friends for trip, Dev behaved terribly. No excuse and forgiveness for him...

I always think, how could be dev character if someone else acted rather than shaheer.. Is that under shaheer s good looks, dev s deeds go under the carpet..

Sonakshi character is mockery of independent, working woman, being myself one...She just looks so desperate and obessessive of dev, anything is ok for her, just she needs dev..she has highly supportive family, still writer made her like that..S3 is height of it..

I expected Sona to be moved on with someone happily during that 7 years just like that rajesh khanna and mumtaz movie, forgot name where mumtaz leaves rajesh khanna forever when he doubts her but here it came back to square..

I know people may dealing with worst people than dev and iswari in real life but here at least they would have shown how women would move on from such relations/ marriages for better life..

But its ITV, should not think of any sensible things..😝

As you mentioned, now after all these years when you look at these episodes you realize how toxic their relationship was and how naive we were to fall for all this and sympathize with their situation. Dev was nothing but a typical ITV MCP and sonakshi was a doormat who kept falling for him at the cost of her self respect.

I only realised that on the second watching. i guess because i binged so i actually remembered all that happened. on tv i almost forgot all the actions but gosh was i wrong.

was mr. casanova Dev having casual sex with random ladies he met during 7 yrs? if so did he get himself checked out for Aids?

I couldn't take a person who slept with so many women back in my life as I care far more for my health & risk it for so called love. CVs need to really get real sometimes.

Pls don't tell me because he was hurt, lost he had casual sex. casual sex also has consequences and responsibilities.

If he did not than no issue. Just writing it out loud as I am thinking 😃

Exactly this! ITV FDS are tuned in a way to forgive ML even for murder . And the standards for ML on TV are so low , that spineless chauvinist like Dev is hailed just because he didn't forcefully marry her or physically manhandle her .

Notwithstanding , the relationship was more toxic . ASR from IPK at least stood up for his wife and grew over time .

Exactly, i also thought of STD, how could Sona had taken him back after all these without proper medical check up and STD can show up anytime of life stage...

Our KRP writters missed their biology classes it seems so including sona being doctor herself🤦‍♀😝

UFF ASR, i miss him a lot, i rewatched during covid times, it was refreshing as it was 10 years back....ASR was strong character, he always stood for right things after initial stage, he misunderstood, once it cleared, he was against his di and khushi for shyam to be back...He always stood for Khushi after kidnap and fight saga...

No improvement for dev even after 3 kids, no character growth expect s2...sad...

bold 1 - I remember those days. the fandom went crazy if someone so much as pointed a finger at dev’s character back then. People wrote essays justifying dev’s behavior and his pain back then. The amount of bashing and blaming that went for sonakshi because she chose to leave him was another level.

bold 2 - I wasn’t a regular viewer of the show back then, just caught up with random episodes because I couldn’t connect with the show totally. I was just popping in and out, so I might have missed the episode you mentioned about ishwari-bijoy conversation. I always assumed they were divorced, that’s why sonakshi was okay with dev’s past 7 years. Now that you mention how was she okay with going back to him? how’s any girl okay with that? Imagine if sonakshi had so much as thought about even considering 2nd marriage? How much character assassination there would have been? A fl having an affair or another love interest who isn’t ml is an anathema or sin in ITV even if she is young and single, so I won’t even try that point.

The hypocrisy of ITV and it’s audience is what makes me stay away from watching TV for the most part. Hero can be a scum of the worst order, he can have an ex-gf as a permanent fixture hanging off his arm or even sleep around, all justified because he had a troubled past. The heroine though should be pristine and I don’t see the trend ever changing.

I think there was serious writing lapse there. They kept referring to each other as ex-wife and ex-husband. Dev was going to get married to another girl. Even Asha and Bijoy wanted to Sona to marry Jatin. All this, and afterwards, they suddenly declared that they aren't even divorced🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ come on, writers!

As for Sona being okay, I understand that. She was very hurt about it, definitely, as Elena could see. But as they said, it had been seven long years. Whether Sona went her way with another person or Dev having other partners, neither of them could blame one another. Dev refers to his 7 years as the dark years where he had no idea what he was doing.

I maybe wrong, but I think they didn't really want to make him apologize. From makers point of view he was the victim and both Ishwari & Sonakshi had got to say sorry to him. I can't wrap my head around their reunion episode. Sonakshi had to chase him, find him & bring him back after apologizing for not being with him for the past 7 years? However things had conspired 7 years ago, at the end they made it all about Sonakshi misunderstanding Dev & Dev being offended about it while it was not so. Sonakshi did not misunderstand anything. She was pointedly told to leave, because loving her marrying her was apparently the biggest mistake of Dev. She kept asking if he was sure, she kept saying that she was going & she was replied with an angry "Just Go!" But somehow going away turned into her fault. Dev verbally abused her... Said she was a horrible wife, a horrible bahu who did puja path wala nautanki & thank God she cannot be a mother because she would have been a horrible mother as well.... After the way Dev so brutally kicked her when she was at her lowest.... somehow it all became her fault & Dev became the "misunderstood" one. 🥱

Even after the reunion, with that bus incident track they went on with the same crap again & Dev needed "proofs" that Sonakshi loved him. Since Sonakshi didn't ditch her pregnant Sister in law in her medical check up & run after Dev just because he turned off his phone sitting in the comfort of his house, he again accused her of not loving him enough. 🤪 And even that track was wrapped up as a "misunderstanding" & a case of "different mindsets" and NOT showing Dev was being insensitive & unreasonable.

Dev is like this saint....who even if murders someone tomorrow, we are supposed to blame the victim for getting murdered by Dev 🤦🏻 In season 3 it has gotten even more ridiculous😆

That's an interesting perspective.

Making him a victim while everyone around has to apologize, is not a good look for a show.

I feel they were striving for balance, but didn't want to remind the audience all over again of the horrible things he had said. Viewers may be reminded why Sona may not want to go back to him and that would not be a good track. So they had him apologize generally for not supporting her and wrapped it up.
