UFF ASR, i miss him a lot, i rewatched during covid times, it was refreshing as it was 10 years back....ASR was strong character, he always stood for right things after initial stage, he misunderstood, once it cleared, he was against his di and khushi for shyam to be back...He always stood for Khushi after kidnap and fight saga...

No improvement for dev even after 3 kids, no character growth expect s2...sad...

That's exactly what the problem is . As someone rightly pointed out , 10 years ago Dev hiding in his mom's pallu or being irresponsible towards his wife or committing those mistakes looked cute and somewhat relatable . Now, after 10 years of marriage and 3 kids , he refuses to grow up is painfully funny .

I mean 40 year old man , has to explain to his mom about spending time with his wife , like he's teenager who has sneaked in his GF . 💁

Exactly, i also thought of STD, how could Sona had taken him back after all these without proper medical check up and STD can show up anytime of life stage...

Our KRP writters missed their biology classes it seems so including sona being doctor herself🤦‍♀😝

Don't remind me abt capability on medical science in the show. Overnight Dr. Announced sona has 7% of chance😆(don't ask me what tests were conducted).

That's an interesting perspective.

Making him a victim while everyone around has to apologize, is not a good look for a show.

I feel they were striving for balance, but didn't want to remind the audience all over again of the horrible things he had said. Viewers may be reminded why Sona may not want to go back to him and that would not be a good track. So they had him apologize generally for not supporting her and wrapped it up.

Like I said, I might be wrong.😊 It's just....it felt that way to me by seeing how they narrate & tie up every track. 🤔 I think since ITV mostly narrate from the female leads' point of view, the makers of KRPKAB tried to break the norm & narrate the show from the male lead's point of view.

In the beginning it was pretty much balanced. We saw both Dev & Sonakshi's point of view. But since the marriage...the narration slowly got Dev-centric I think. How he is getting sandwiched between his mother & his wife.... how he wants to please both but the choice is too tough etc etc. If I am not mistaken, that's actually what the show's theme was.

I came to believe it because from the makers' side, the narration was always focused on Dev - Ishwari more & less on Sonakshi & the Boses. Dev & Ishwari's past were shown in flashbacks again & again. But the Boses? No background story. Not even a passing mention on how they came to be in Delhi when originally they were from Kolkata. 😕 They didn't even bother showing a single glimpse of Elena's parents, even when their daughter eloped & got married! 🤪 Chalo they are side characters....but Sonakshi? Sonakshi went through a heck of a struggle when her husband threw her out on the street along with her family, pregnant, bankrupt & nowhere to go. They TOTALLY SKIPPED the chapter of her struggles, how she overcame the crisis etc... They didn't even showed what happened to Bijoy when he got that stroke / cardiac arrest & how they managed the emergency. 😲 They directly showed her as this successful entrepreneur who has got attitude & swag. While Dev & Ishwari? Got proper flashback scenes right after the separation, where Dev disowns her & declares that he would live his life as per his rules now. 🤪And then they introduced a whole full-fledged track involving his sisters to show what he suffered. But how Sonakshi spent those 7 years? How she managed? Even now they don't broach that subject while Devishwari & their hohohohohoho plays on loop.

If it was any other show, they would have totally skipped showing the male lead's side for a while & concentrated on showing how the female lead turned the table & rose from the ashes. KRPKAB makers didn't.

Then post leap, Dev was portrayed as some bechara whom Sonakshi "misunderstood". And ultimately Sonakshi had to go after him & say sorry to him on her knees. I don't think the makers forgot or didn't want to remind the audience of his past actions. I feel, while showing him helpless between Maa & Biwi, they went a bit overboard with the infertility + Mission Dixit baby track which made us resent Dev, but as per them, Dev was the helpless character stuck in a helpless situation & so not at fault. That was Dev's pov & the makers wanted to narrate the story from his pov only. That's why everyone except him is wrong.

Even in season 2 (though I love it for the social awareness they tried to spread), they totally skipped through the 6 months Sonakshi was sitting at home, taking care of Shubh. They started directly from the episode Dev pushes Sonakshi to go to office & he himself decides to stay at home. If you go around talking to people on YT, Insta etc it would seem like people don't even know Sonakshi did take care of Shubh for the first six months. 😳 It would seem like she just delivered him, dropped him on Dev's lap & went sauntering back to office the very next day.Again, the makers presented it that way because Dev's story was to be told, not Sonakshi's. (I think)

This is just my observation of the past 2 seasons. I don't even know what they are trying to do with season 3 (I doubt they themselves know either!) so no comment on that.😆

Look for the first season , it was all fair and fine that show was focused on Dev and the relationship of two women vis a vis Dev because that's what it was meant to be .

Now in season 3 when you promote the show as "Rishton ki Gehrayi mein pyaar hain ya daraar " and the promos hinting at fading love between a couple , it's natural to expect both perspectives. Moreover it was easy to sympathetic to Dev who was then newly In love/ married . His dilemmas then were relatable. Now with so much water under the bridge - 10 years of marriage and 3 kids , If he's still facing same dilemmas it only means that the character has no arc at all.

Exactly. I don’t understand how people found it cute. I would find it embarrassing if any husband have to take his mother permission to spend time with his legally wedded wife.

Notwithstanding , the relationship was more toxic . ASR from IPK at least stood up for his wife and grew over time .

FDs would go to war if these characters were questioned. The standards for itv as a whole is low, but yes the MLS do take the cake in this department.

ASR - I know there’s a big fandom for this show and the character, but I personally feel this show and the character started the trend of romanticizing abusive male leads, so I absolutely abhor both the show and the lead characters of this show. No offense.

Sonakshi was asked to leave! By her so called husband. Because she accidentally bumped into his mother after being pushed by him. She kept asking if he really wanted her to leave, she kept saying goodbyes, giving him time to change his mind....but he pointedly told her to leave.

And after his brother got her & her family thrown out on the street (which he didn't even deny), when she came to talk to him, he told her that -

1) she trapped him & then married him for his money

2) she was not a good wife

3) she was not a good bahu

4) It's her fault she cannot be a mother & she would have been a horrible mother anyway

5) she wrecked his home

6) marrying her was the biggest mistake of his life.

🤢

Going away was not her choice. She was kicked out, quite insensitively & ruthlessly. What should she have done instead? Dumped her family on the street & sit in dharna outside Dixit house? Was mental abuse not enough? Should she have given her patidev & his mother a chance to physically assault her as well? Was that why people were mad at her? 🤢

Tried justifying this point of view, but gave up pretty fast, trust me. Those days were kind of crazy, so many were so invested in the show, everybody justifying sides, funny how much people would fight for a fictional character, but yes for the most part dev did manage to get the sympathy vote of the year.

Bold 1:

I have always felt that this story is of the Dixits. The Boses just came in their paths. The story was of Dev and Ishwari, their bond, their struggles, their lives and what happened to them when a girl came into Dev's life. The story is not of a man and a woman falling in love and dealing with arising consequences. That is why no background of the Boses was shown, how was their middle class life, upbringing etc. It's all the Dixits. This has been my opinion regarding the show.

Bold 2:

Once again, it's the story of the Dixits. So they did not show Sonakshi's struggles. However, I expected to see her side of the story through her emails post leap, how she dealt with being rendered homeless, being pregnant, being out of marriage all of a sudden, guilty that her family was going through all this. I wanted more of this covered in her emails, as Dev reads them and understands her agony. But they didn't go deep. Story of the Dixits, so they needed to show something that involved Ishwari.

Bold 3:

You and me both, babe! Heaven knows what they are doing. Now new writer, so I am prepared for things to go even more south!

To be really i would say dev and his mother are both manipulative sympathy gainers and bechare. End of the story.
