What I noticed in them is, even though the female leads were doormats or too forgiving, the male leads were at least shown realising that he was at fault, that he has hurt her & he needed to apologise to her. KRPKAB makers didn't make Dev do any such thing though. That's what makes Dev even worse than other ITV shows heroes (at least some of them) for me. He not only doesn't realise that he does some seriously messed up things or his actions hurt Sonakshi but he continuously pretends to be hurt because of her! Which ultimately makes Sonakshi doubt herself, blame herself & apologize for things that weren't her fault. I have no problem with the heroine being too kind hearted or too forgiving. But at least let the opposite party admit they were wrong & ask for her forgiveness. In Sonakshi's case, she is the one who goes around asking for forgiveness from the very same people who should have been asking for it from her.🤦🏻

Right from the beginning they made a big deal of dev apologizing and receiving an apology from him akin to some kind of miracle. I don’t know if you remember in one of the very early episodes he apologizes to sonakshi for wrongfully blaming her for something (don’t remember the exact scenario) and it was hyped so much. Yet at least he accepted his mistakes back then. Post leap they totally forgot he is the one who has done a lot of wrong by his wife and made him a total self-entitled arrogant jerk.

Those days were kind of crazy, so many were so invested in the show, everybody justifying sides, funny how much people would fight for a fictional character, but yes for the most part dev did manage to get the sympathy vote of the year.

I know no one would admit...but I have a nagging suspicion that justifying & defending Dev isn't all about the attachment with a "fictional character". If you know what I mean 😆

I have always felt that this story is of the Dixits. The Boses just came in their paths. The story was of Dev and Ishwari, their bond, their struggles, their lives and what happened to them when a girl came into Dev's life. The story is not of a man and a woman falling in love and dealing with arising consequences. That is why no background of the Boses was shown, how was their middle class life, upbringing etc. It's all the Dixits. This has been my opinion regarding the show.

Bold 2:

Once again, it's the story of the Dixits. So they did not show Sonakshi's struggles. However, I expected to see her side of the story through her emails post leap, how she dealt with being rendered homeless, being pregnant, being out of marriage all of a sudden, guilty that her family was going through all this. I wanted more of this covered in her emails, as Dev reads them and understands her agony. But they didn't go deep. Story of the Dixits, so they needed to show something that involved Ishwari.

Bold 3:

You and me both, babe! Heaven knows what they are doing. Now new writer, so I am prepared for things to go even more south!

That's exactly my feeling too. KRPKAB is the story of Dev-Ishwari & their bond. Sonakshi is the 3rd person (the intruder) who just landed between them & all hell broke loose. That's the way the makers wanted to present it.

And that is the reason I feel makers keep victimising them & never show them to be outrightly wrong. Even when their actions destroy other people's lives. They are never responsible for it because they are always the bechara, misunderstood characters, caught in a wrong situation in the wrong way. And they get to be like this because they are the main characters from whose pov the story is being told.

So Sonakshi has to adjust to them, Sonakshi had to "realise" that she misunderstood stuffs & Sonakshi had to apologise because apparently her inability to "understand" & "adjust" causes the problems.

It's another matter that after watching the same thing happen again and again, we are sick of it & we start to feel bad for Sonakshi for everything she is put through. The makers try their best to show the Maa - Beta bond as some holy, pious....out of the world bond. It's just....we started to notice the havoc it wrecked in other people's lives & so got sick of it.

Still only nagging suspicion? Even after the whole glorifying s2 and how the s3 is going?

The makers didn’t even hold them responsible for how the girls in their own house were treated like third-class citizens. Neha, who had suffered the most because of the ma-beta relationship, was portrayed as a mean bitter person. Neha was the surrogate mother of the house, yet she was never recognized properly for her sacrifice by either of them. Neha’s bitterness was completely justified, unfortunately sonakshi ended up being the victim of all her bitterness.

Also I felt for the most part the makers wanted to present a story from the ML’s perspective (except for the tiny lapse where they went with the typical saas-bahu saga with all the cooking/fever drama and all). It’s another unfortunate fact that ITV makers never know to present an unbiased story from both point of view. They change sides according to trp, which in turn makes the viewers divided too.

ASR - I know there’s a big fandom for this show and the character, but I personally feel this show and the character started the trend of romanticizing abusive male leads, so I absolutely abhor both the show and the lead characters of this show. No offense.

I have started to too. Have you seen how so many people jump to defend the most reprehensible actions of his. Others will manipulate the things that happened in the show.

I was so shocked another user said that Dev crying and suffering was apology to Sonakshi and hence should forgive him . And when I explained difference between Apology regrett and suffering she slipped. It's as if this show has made people absolutely unaware of the female perspective. As if the male main character (MMC) is the center of the universe.
