Example? And Ravan was a rapist; how can they portray him as a positive character? 😕
Maniratnam's Raavan starring Ash and Abhishek.
Rajnikanth starrer "Kabaali" has hero as Raavan who wants to protect his slum from evil lords of "North"😆.
Recent blockbuster "Karnan" , the evil police man's name is Krishna.
Great NT Rama Rao, was way ahead of his time, when he made "Dana Veera sura karna" in 1970's with Karna as the great hero and mocking Pandavas as casteists and cheaters.
There are controversies on these movies ofcourse, but still not banned.

I'm not An expert on this, but as far as my limited knowledge goes, there are 300 versions of Ramayana till now. There are strong Dravidian, Periyar movements in tge south, which opposed the deep rooted casteism in the society , and rejected the casteist versions of the mythologies. In the Tamil versions, Raavan was an righteous ruler, who got outwitted by casteist Rama. There are some tribals in AP and Telangana, who follow the inverted version of Mahabharath, where Karna and tge duryodhan are heroes, who got cheated by Pandavas and Krishna. Draupadi had a desire for Karna. That's why in the recent movie , "Karnan" the love interest of the hero is named as Draupadi.
