Enough.
Wiping the tears, she moved towards the small table she had set up for her studies and taking a blank piece of paper from her notebook, she wrote down everything she had been trying to explain to him. To the family.
He walked away in anger. She had repeated the same conversation again and it was annoying him to no end that she refused to understand what he was trying to tell her. He made his way to the tree, wanting some peace and quiet to think things through.
It had never been only about the papers. She knew that she couldn't keep a secret and had in hindsight understood that was why they thought of not telling her. What had irked her was that despite almost losing her life, her husband hadn't thought it important enough to at least tell her where he had gone. It hurt that they worked as a unit; a vehicle that ran the family, but she, no, both her and Rishita hadn't been thought of as even the spares that you kept, in case there was an emergency, separate, but still a part of the unit.
Rishita still got involved in the plans for the new superstore, managing the loan and trying to sort the whole fiasco after, and she had watched with green glasses as Gautam took her advice on the store designs, spoke to Dhara about the finances; but she had never been included in those conversations either.
Despite the jealousy, it made her happy that Rishita had gotten the chance, however she also had ideas that she wanted to put forth, but had repeatedly been sidelined as the fool in the family; unreliable, the hindrance of her upbringing pushing her even further away.
Swiping at her wet cheeks, streaking the tears where her palms rubbed against them, she crumpled up the paper. It wasn't worth it. Noone would ever understand what she was going through and explaining to her husband, his brothers or Dhara at that point was akin to banging your head on the wall.
She huffed and then took a deep breath, finally taking the time to straighten her appearance. Mask in place, she walked out of their room and out the front door. She wasn't answerable to anyone; after all her husband had said that she was a part of the family, so she would do as she pleased, the rest be damned, just as they did, wanting to see what would happen when the realisation struck.
