Raavi was annoyed. She had spent the whole day with Dev and still no proposal from him. He had officially completed his MBA today and Raavi was so sure he was going to propose to her today when he asked her out today. Instead, he took her for Chinese and called it a treat, not even a date. Why wouldn’t he propose yet? Forget about her proposal, he still hadn’t expressed his love for her. Today he called her his ‘friend’ when they came upon his college friend. Raavi was telling the entire Somnath that she was in love with him, and here Dev was still calling her a friend in front of his friends.
When she came back to Pandya house with Dev, she found Shiva smirking at her frowning face. He knew all her hopes had been dashed and this evil man was happy at her misfortune. Raavi wanted to kick him, but she controlled herself. He wasn’t the problem, Dev was.
“Bhabhi mujhe bohot important kaam aa gaya hai. Kahi jaana hoga.” Dev said. “Sorry Raavi, tumhe Shiva ghar drop kar dega.”
Shiva’s smile disappeared, and Raavi’s smile reappeared hearing that. She would annoy him to great lengths now. It was always the highlight of her day to annoy Shiva. She smiled very sweetly at him.
“Chale Shiva?”
“Ae mami ki behen ki beti, apne pairo se chalke ghar jaa.”
“Shiva!” Dhara warned.
Shiva sighed and simply went outside and started his bike. Raavi gave her Dhara di a big hug and then hopped on the bike behind him. Raavi kept talking about her date with Dev all the way. She obviously added some details on her own and exaggerated everything. Shiva didn’t speak a word but when she didn’t stop talking, he suddenly hit the brakes.
“Shiva! Kya kar raha hai?”
Shiva got down and looked at Raavi. “Aur kitna jhuth bolegi chipkali? Tere chehre se pata chal raha tha kitna romantic tha tera date.”
“Main jhooth nahi bolti.” Raavi lied.
“Bakwaas mat kar. Dev ko aisi koi feelings nahi hai tere liye.” Shiva said.
“Mujhe pata hai mere Dev ki kya feelings hai. Woh bas thoda shy hai.”
Shiva laughed. Sometimes he felt bad for this chipkali but she brought it on herself. “Tu Dev ke sapne dekhna chor de.”
“Dekh Shiva, tujhe maan lena parega ki main teri hone wali bhabhi hu. Dev ka MBA khatam ho gaya hai aur woh kisi bhi din mujhe propose karna wala hoga.”
Shiva laughed even harder. “Thik hai chipkali. Jis din Dev ne tujhe khud propose kar liya, main tujhe apni bhabhi maan lunga. Main khud bhabhi aur Gaumbi se tum dono ki rishte ki baat karunga.”
Raavi couldn’t believe it. She screamed in the middle of the road and hugged Shiva. “Sachhi?”
“Dur hat pehle. Abhi nahi pehle proposal phir hug.”
“Toh thik hai Shiva. Main guarantee leti hu ki Dev mujhe propose toh karke rahega.”
“Main bhi guarantee leta hu ki woh nahi karega.”
“Dekh lete hai phir ki kaun sahi aur kaun galat.” Raavi said.
After making the bet, Shiva dropped Raavi home. She straight went upstairs and started making a plan. Dev was too shy and he needed some motivation to propose to her. But what could this motivation be? Should she stand under a falling chandelier and wait for him to realise his love for her? But there was no chandelier in her house or in the Pandya house. She could take fake an accident and go to the hospital. Dev would come and cry and curse himself for not telling her that he loved her. But her Maasi would kill her if she had to pay the hospital bill for a fake accident. What else?
“Raavi tu haldi powder layi hai?” Anita asked.
“Haldi powder?” Raavi asked.
“Tu subah nikli thi haldi laane. Abhi shaam ko laut rahi hai. Pata hai Pandya house gayi hogi par jo lane gayi thi woh layi hai na?”
As Raavi looked at Anita, a plan began to form in her head. She had seen jealousy in her Anita Di’s eyes whenever she looked at Gaumbi and Dhara together. It was after Gaumbi and Dhara’s wedding that she had truly realised her fault for listening to her phui. Maybe what Dev needed was the motivation of jealousy. He’ll realise her worth when he sees her with someone else.
What a master plan Raavi! You are truly amazing, she thought.
“Raavi!” Anita screamed. “Kaha kho gayi? Haldi powder layi?”
“Nahi bhul gayi.”
“Ek cheez yaad nahi rehti.” Anita left.
She’ll need to make Dev jealous. Then he’ll realise his love for her and propose to her. Then Shiva will accept her as his bhabhi, and she’ll win. She needed to do this. But how would she make him jealous and with whom? She didn’t know any other guys other than the Pandya brothers. There were some guys in her school and some in her college, but she wasn’t that close to any of them. Neither did she trust them.
It would have to be a guy she could trust, because there definitely would be some hugging or hand holding involved. She trusted Dev obviously. But who else? The answer came to her instantly. Shiva. She trusted Shiva more than anybody in this world. Raavi fetched her diary and started writing the pros and cons.
Pros of fake dating Shiva-
- Dev’s brother
- I trust him. So he won’t take advantage of me
- I can go to Pandya House anytime I want
- I can annoy him!
Cons of fake dating Shiva

- He won’t agree to do this

The list of cons were double of that of the pros but Raavi was going to do it! Dev would be so jealous. It will probably take only one or two days. She can bear him for one or two days. Imagine how much fun it would be if Shiva would be the one to her aarti when she enters the Pandya house as their bahu.
But the biggest question of all was, how would she convince Shiva to fake date her?
