while bollywood is busy making cooli no1.. they could make a TV show like Game of thrones on Mughal empire or even better, make one like the Viking where the story continues for 30-40 years

if they start from babur and end it at  Aurreenzeb thats some next level shit but theyre too busy making houseful 30 and Cooli no 2

its even easier now and the audience is there due to OTT, even A listers are willing to take part in it..

the controversies between hindus-muslims would make it even a bigger hit

There was one called Siyasat on Epic TV. It was based on the book The Twentieth Wife and was about mughal politics and the love story of Salim and Mehrunnisa

As for your topic, yes a web series is being made about the Mughal kingdom from Babur to Aurangazeb by Nikhil Advani. It's called Moghuls and will be streaming on Hotstar as per media reports.

News from last year

Mumbai: Web-series are the ‘in-thing’ these days. As entertainment is shifting from television to mobile phones, directors and filmmakers are turning towards digital entertainment. As per latest reports, Nikkhil Advani is all set to make a web series based on the novel ‘Empire Of The Moghul’ written by Alex Rutherfood. The book is a historical account charting the birth, rise and fall of the Mughal empire from Babur to Aurangzeb.

In the show, actor Ronit Roy will be essaying the role of Babur. The role of Babur’s grandmother Esan Daulat will be played by veteran actress Shabana Azmi. It is a historical fact that Esan Daulat was a powerful lady who played a major role in ensuring that a 12-year-old Babur is crowned as the king after his father’s death.

Actress Dia Mirza, who was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju will be playing the role of Babur’s sister Khanzada in the web series. Speaking about her role, Dia said that Babur’s sister Khanzada is rarely mentioned in general history books whereas historical memoirs like Baburnama and Humayunama are full of details about her. Dia further added that she is more than happy to play this role of a loved, respected and powerful lady.

Nikkhil Advani, who has already completed a schedule of the show in Jaipur, stated that he is glad about the way the project is shaping up. The director confessed that he always had a keen interest in the Mughal era and immediately took up the project when the idea was first suggested.

After the completion of the first schedule in Jaipur, the unit has now moved to Karjat to shoot the second leg of ‘Moghul’.

Amongst the other things they will also have to show how they butchered the Hindus and what not which can get very murky and unpleasant. That’s why nobody ventures that route!

Exactly. It would get cancelled even before it could air. And of all the places would this concept even work in India, where majority population is Hindu?

Instead they should do a Gupta Dynasty, Maurya Dynasty, Ikshvaku Dynasty before Lord Rama...semi-fictional...focussing on Kings Raghu (who gave the name Raghukul) and Aja.

There is another war in the Rig Veda known as the War of Ten Kings...now that would be interesting to watch on screen.

There is so much to learn about and from Ancient India. How I wish someone makes a show on this. There is so much drama and intrigue involved as well, which can guarantee the TRPs.

We also have those who not just bitch but go to the extent of beheading people just because they taught freedom of speech, freedom of believing to their students. The thing is, there is no saying where these things can lead to.
