Tracing the words "Jaan " lightly with her fingers, she read the quote multiple times. Eyeing the rose a slow smile spread over her mouth and spilled into her eyes. When she glanced at him, he was eyeing her, a wry smile twisting his lips. The resolution to be away from him hit her senses. Holding the card and rose, she marched towards him.
" Sameer yeh lo yeh phool aur yeh " before she could complete " I love you too " coming closer he whispered near her ear nuzzling it.
She looked at him startled, this she hadn't imagined
" Maine toh I ...kaha hi nahi" she stammered and bit her lips to keep them from quivering.
" Par maine suna , yeh Red rose deke yahi toh kehte hai na ?" he asked raising his eyebrows. His face was flushed and his eyes were bright.
Controlling her heartbeats that had shot up" Check up karva lo doctor se , aaj kal bina kahe hi bahut kuch sunayi de raha hai?" she snapped back
"Ab ishq mein toh aisa hi kuch hota hai, har waqt tumhari aawaz sunayi deti hai,har jagah tum hi dekhayi deti ho. Tum pass hoti ho toh dil karta hai waqt yahi rukh jaye. Ishq par ab kiska zor chala hai"

" Isse Pagalpan kehte hai," she said glaring.
" Tumhare pyar mein pagal toh houn hi, isse kab inkar kiya hai maine? " he winked saying this and leaned a little towards her. That pleased smile was on his lips again and his eyes held a glint of humor.
She moved back a little "Aur subah hi maine saaf saaf keh diya hai ki mujhe tumse koi rishta nahi rakhna. Tumhari taqdeer kisi aur ke saath jod lo. Mujhe bhul jao tum please" she pleaded, it was unbearable for her to feel his love and not show in return her love for him.
He took few steps and moved closer to her, for a moment he simply gazed into her eyes, and then he drew a deep breath looking into her eyes . "Aur maine bhi saaf saaf keh diya hai, tum nahi toh koi nahi. Aur mere taqdeer sirf tumse judi hai.Tum mera pehla aur aakhri pyar ho. Aakhri saans tak intezaar karunga. Tum apne irade par rehna aur mai apne" he said, clearly wanting to know his resolution.
" Tumhara kuch nahi ho sakta , karte raho kosish , dekhti houn kab tak . Ek na ek din toh haar maanoge " displaying an enormous amount of confidence, she said. Even though somewhere in the corner of heart she knew Sameer was more stubborn and when it came to love, there was no one like him.
"Saahil ke sukoon se, kise inkaar hai
Lekin toofan se ladne mein maza hi kuch aur hai " mushkil hai par mujhe hamare pyar par poora bharosa hai.Ek na ek din tum phir se mere liye apne dil ke darwaze khol dogi. Jaise is phool ko dekh kar tumhare hothoun pe hasi aayi thi waise hi mujhe tumhara saath milega. Meri zindagi mein bhi bahar aa jayegi. Dekh lena ek din zaroor" he replied with the same confidence.
"Sameer jaise yeh phool ko wapis tum laga nahi sakte waise hi toote dil jud nahi saktein.Kitna sundar phool tha yeh aur tumne thod diya.Aisi shayari likhne se card se, phool dene se toote dil ke tukde jud nahi jaate. Bahar ki baat kartein ho, pehle uski kadar toh karna sikho, in phooloun ko apni zindagi jeene do aur mujhe bhi" she sighed and walked back to her desk as the rest of the team started to join. Sameer gazed for a long moment at the retreating figure, an odd gleam in his eye.
" Meri khamoshi mein sanate bhi hai shor bhi hai
tune dekha hi nahi aakhoun mein kuch aur bhi hai "
The rest of the day passed in finishing the work assigned and in meetings. Silence prevailed between the two for the rest of the day, in between their work, Sameer stole few glances.
Even though Sameer smiled and tried to be cheerful in front of Naina. At night he would cry remembering, what Naina had gone through. Guilt fluttered through him, making him cold on the inside.
" Maine woh email nahi likha hota toh Naina kabhi akela na mehsoos karti, woh sabse lad padti bas mera saath hota toh. Par maine ek galti ki aur kitna kuch saha hai . Sameer tune jo kiya hai , uske liye kitne bhi aasoun bahale tu uska dard kam nahi kar sakta." he blamed himself.
" Kaise samjao usko dil uska nahi mera bhi tuta hai, har din roota houn, usko aise dekh kar. Dard mujhe hota hai jab woh dard mein hoti hai. Uske bina mai kuch nahi. " he poured the love he held in his heart for her in silence.
"Sameer tu is tarah haar nahi sakta , woh chehre pe tujhe muskan lani hogi , chahe jitna bhi mushkil ho tu kosish karta rahega." his heart would give the push when he felt week and motivate to try again. "Many a times he would imagine What if things had been different , what if he hadn't written that email" he remembered Galib sher

Naina smiled, remembering the morning time spent with him at the necklace road. Even though she tried to be unaffected by his love in-front of Sameer, in reality, he was affecting her more than he had thought. Her heart enjoyed the little moments of love showered on her. Her heart had skipped a bit when he had told her "I love you too ". Her heart was miserable without him. She played the song "mera dil machal gaya " multiple times. She blushed remembering his gaze on her. Her heart argued with her "Woh phool aur card lekar rakh leti na, kyun lauta diya tumne ? Kyun usse itni berukhi se baat karti ho? Pyar karti ho toh jatati kyun nahi? . She knew her broken heart could not give love he deserved. She couldn't even tell " I Love You" in front of him. He was the only one who loved her unconditionally. Even though she was always angry with him or kept on reminding him of the mistake he had done. Her heart knew very well she was also equally responsible for the breakup.
"Tu ek divorcee hai Naina , woh apna bhi le , samaaj tujhe aur Sameer ko taane dega , jeena nahi dega. Kyun uski zindagi mein apni manusiyat lekar jaa rahi hai. " her mind questioned her . Taiji's words " Jab paida huvi toh maa ko kha gayi, karam jali. Jahan jayegi apni manusiyat lekar jayegi " She could never imagine even in her dreams anything bad happening with Sameer.. "Nahi mai usse dur hi rahoungi. Woh chahe kuch bhi kar le " her determination was back.

The next day she found a card on her desk without a flower.
"Phool todna tumhe pasand nahi , isliye phool wala card laya houn.

That sweet chocolate gaze softened as she looked at the card and a smile touched the corners of her mouth. Sameer was standing at her desk. For a moment they simply looked at each other. He gave a crooked smile and took long steps to close the distance between them. He bent down and whispered in her ear
"Yun Nighaho se nighahe na milaya karo
Zara si shararat hui to muhbbat ho jayegi "
His words, his closeness, his hot breath near her ear made her go weak at her knees. She quickly turned and tried to run before her heart exploded, she stumbled but Sameer caught her hand firmly before she lost her balance.
"Kuch bhi nahi hai khas in dino
tu jo nahi hai pass inn dino " he muttered and glanced up and met her gaze with an expression that made her heart flutter. His close proximity sent her heart racing. "Sameer Sanjay aa raha hai , please jao yahan se " saying this she moved away
The next few days were busy as the final release date was approaching. Sameer made sure that Naina ate on time, dropped her and took care of her in every possible way. Naina didn't object to anything but followed his requests and commands, she also ate with him so that he doesn't skip eating. But her behavior was still cold towards him.
Finally, the production release day arrived. Everyone was quite busy with the final preparations, validating final reports and sign-offs. Some of them had to stay late to support any production issues that may pop up.
Late evening while the deployment was going on at onsite, the offshore team was free and was involved in idle conversation. The usual talks around recently released movie Veer-Zara was a hot topic and interesting.
"Bahut hi sahi movie hai yaar, unconditional love. Songs to ek dum superb. Hayeee Shahrukh aur Preeti ki chemistry, woh romance. Kaash aisa koi pyar karne wala mil jayein " Divya said with dreamy eyes.
"Aisa toh sirf movies mein hota hai, real life mein sacha pyar aisa kuch hota hi nahi hai. Ho bhi toh milna mushkil hai" Naina replied, a lump formed in her throat and tears spilled from her eyes. She quickly turned her face to hide them.
"Kya yaar Naina , tumhe to pyar samaj aata hi nahi. Bas kaam mein hi tum expert ho " Sonal replied.
"Sachi hi toh keh rahi hai Naina, filmy duniya aur real life mein difference hai. Naina galat ho hi nahi sakti " Sanjay supported Naina. This didn't go well with Sameer.
Clutching his fist he turned towards Sanjay " Tumne kabhi pyar toh kiya nahi toh mat hi bolo. Aur Naina raakhi band dena isko, bhai banke raksha karega real life mein. "
" Mr Possessive Jealous Sameer Maheshwari .. " she thought to herself and smiled.
Sanjay was about to protest but Sameer continued.
"Tumne pyar nahi kiya hai , toh tum samjoge nahi Sanjay. Pyar jisne kiya hai woh jante hai ki pyar mein shartein nahi hoti, koi sarhadein nahi hoti, bas ek dusre ke dil ki aawaz sunayi deti hai. Aaj Naina shayad is baat pe yakeen na karein mera daava hai ki woh ek na ek din meri baat pe, pyar pe yakeen zaroor karegi " while his searching gaze ran over her face again.

As he finished, immediately his gaze riveted on hers, searching for every emotion. Tears burned her eyes, but she refused to let emotion take over again. She lowered her eyes trying to hide the love and pain she was feeling for Sameer.

Ladte bhi tumse hai , marte bhi tum pe hi hai " she said to herself
"Wah Kya aawaz hai .Sameer, tumne toh kaha ki tum kisi se pyar karte ho ? Batao na kaise hai woh , Kahan hai ? Aur tum kaise mile ?? " Divya questioned. Sameer came out of his trance and looked at Naina.
"Isko bhi abhi yeh kahani sunni hai , Agar Sameer ne tumahra naam liya toh ? Nahi Nahi woh aise nahi karega" she said to herself and looked nervously at him " .
"Sunao Kahani ?? Naina ?? "
"Huh ?? . " knowing very well why was he asking her.
"Daantogi toh nahi ?.Mera matalab hai kaam ke waqt yeh sab baatein karna tum naaraz to nahi hogi " his mouth twisted into a wry smile and the dark eyes that sought hers held a trace of humor.
She said " Mujhse kyun puch rahe ho , waise bhi baatein chal rahi hai sunao. Pata toh chale kaisa pyar tha tumhara ? "
" Tha nahi hai , aaj bhi karta houn bahutttt pyar karta houn " he corrected her and then recalled how they met , her innocence and how she slowly made a special place in his heart with her love and care. "Kaisi hai ? Mai kya kahoun ? Woh Sab se alag hai. Yeh gazal ki kuch lines shayad tum log samaj jaoge" . he sang few lines of jagjit singh "Maine Dil se kaha"

"Arey duniya mein upar wale ne ek hi piece banaya hai " he chuckled and then after a pause "dusra koi us jaisa nahi" he looked at her affectionately.
" Pata hai poore 3 saal 1 mahine aur 12 din lage usko yeh samajne mein ki mai usse pyar karta houn aur woh mujhse " He chuckled and said

Everyone laughed at this. Naina smiled remembering their college days, how naive she was. She could not understand the hints that Sameer use to plant. How slowly she had fallen for him without even knowing that she was in love.
She had a sunshine smile on her face, Apparently, Sameer found what he was looking for because a smile touched the corners of his mouth and his eyes warmed seeing her smiling. "Ek sher yaad hai unki muskan dekh kar " Sameer said looking at Naina. Others replied "Irshaad" .
Kuch toh baat hogi inki muskan mein

"Wah Wah " all said in unison, bringing back Naina from her dreamy world.
When she glanced up at Sameer, his gaze sought Naina, the sides of his mouth turned up in a warm smile.
"Aur ab kahan hai? Kab milaoge humse?" Sonal asked
"Thodi si naaraz hai mujhse. Galti ki hai maine, uska najuk sa dil toda hai. Mana raha houn, bas tum sab log dua karo ki woh mujhe maaf kar dein aur meri zindagi mein aake phir se use sawar dein ." Sameer smiled sadly as he glanced at Naina. The smile faded and her expression became ardent.
"Naam kya hai us ladki ka??"
" Naina", after a short pause "woh deployment khatam huva kya ? sab thik hai toh ghar chaltein hai late ho raha hai.
As she absorbed his words, her expression went from tense to relieved, and then on to something sweet and sad.
"Naam bata dounga pehle mana lene do" he said looking at others.
"Maan jayegi , itna pyar jo karte ho usse. "Divya and Sonal reassured Sameer.
"Sameer I hope tumhe tumhara pyar mile. Meri toh arranged marriage hai par wife se uthna hi pyar karta houn jitna love marriage mein hota hoga. Rishte mein pyar hona chahiye, khas kar husband wife mein. Tum log usse shadi karna jisse pyar kar sako" Karthik said and then congratulated the team for the smooth release.
"Naina tum ek baar Suresh se baat kar lena , tum aur Sanjay kal subah jaldi aaoge toh accha hoga"
Sameer interrupted immediately " Karthik, Naina programming mein kuch issue hai to dekh legi aur mai agar kuch DB issues hai toh . I think both of us should be enough for the weekend. Sirf business lines check karengi kal toh". Monday we all can come early.
"Yes that's fine. tum dono ek dum perfect jodi " he laughed at them and left.
"Yahi to mai isko samjha raha ho .. perfect jodi hai hum " he murmured loud enough for only Naina to hear.
The rest of the team left congratulating each other for the successful deployment. Naina was still working on the last things before winding up. She knew Sameer would wait for her. After dropping her safely to the hostel then only he would leave. She felt so safe and secured " Uske pass hone ke ehsaas se tu itna khud ko safe mehsoos karti hai , soch uska saath hoga zindagi bhar toh kaise hoga. Woh har pareshani se ,dard se tumhe dur rakhega " her heart tried to convince.

Rubbing those thoughts aside, she ensured with the onsite team that everything was fine.
Sameer was waiting for her, as soon as he saw her coming out he told "Ab Chalein ? Ab toh sab kaam ho gaya na ?".
She just nodded and walked silently.
"Shukar hai Naina devi ka avatar nahi mila, Sameer beta tu apni baat phir se rakh sakta hai " his heart murmured. But he decided to remain silent, just to feel the warmth of her presence. It had started to drizzle at first but the rain started pouring heavily as they walked outside the office premises
"Sameer yahi rukhtein hai thodi der, baarish kam hone ke baad chale jayenge. Tumhe bheegne se sardi ho jati hai aur " she trailed off
"Kaash aaj is pal ka saath maange se accha hota zindagi bhar ka saath maang leta " he said sadly
"Kya maanga tha tumne ?" Naina asked puzzled
"Aye barish zara tham ke baras
Jab mera yaar aaa jaye to jam ke baras,
Pehle na baras ki woh aa na sake
Phir itna baras ki woh ja na sake " he replied moving his hand at the back of his neck.
She looked up at Sameer, teasing him with her eyes.There was a long silence and then Sameer started to hum the song

He stood beside her and they both watched mother natures' display in rapt silence. Melancholy descended over her with the rain. The rain stopped as quickly as it had begun. Once they reached near her hostel, mustering some courage Sameer spoke" Naina please maaf kar do , ek aur mouka de do. Ek baar phir se yakin karo mujhpar"
Sameer waited for her reply in tense silence.

Aaj kismat ne humein dubara se milaya hai. mera bas chale toh tumhe abhi apna bana loun. Par Naina please soch lo ek baar, koi zabarasti nahi hai .Aur sochne ke liye maine apni poori zindagi di hai tumhe. Mai tumhare haan ka intezaar karunga. Apna khayal rakhna mere liye " saying this he turned towards the road.
"Suno" Naina shouted from behind . He turned and raised his brows in question.
She just shook her head in negation. He smiled at her and said

She smiled at him and nodded.
