About Chatur naar- he even told me KK refused the very idea of being pitted against the classical giant Manna day as it would look absurd/unbelievable him winning against such a stalwart...SDB had a tough time convincing both the singers in the end...😆 Thank God he did! ⭐️

BTW, if you listen carefully Manna day starts of with 'tere leloo'...😆

Yeah, the singers in those times had a healthy respect for each other even if they were competitors. In Basant Bahar, Mannada had to sing for Bharat Bhushan's character who would win in a competition against Bhimsen Joshi and he was horrified at the thought, the MDs had to convince him to do it.

I have heard Mannada speak in glowing terms about Rafi and Rafi do the same for him. In fact, Rafi said- A lot of people may listen to my songs but I only listen to Mannadey songs. And although Rafi and Kishore fans are usually at loggerheads, the two men in question had nothing but deep regard for each other.

I know, my dad was the same, though he wasn't too much into movie trivia, more into music trivia. And he would know stuff about what went on at the making of a certain song, but his era of expertise was the Saigal times upto the 50s.

I'm guessing it's actually "terenanu" which are common filler words in the alaap they use in Carnatic music. But "tere leloon" is funnier! 😆

Prithvi raj Kapoor had few gems and when I was a kid,... his " Teen Bahuraniya" was considered a very comedy movie, as per those ppl's mindset in that time-frame,...
In my city, it had run Golden Jubiless ( 50 weeks ) ,.. and so with Shammi Kapoor's Brahmchari,..

When we were kids and no matter whichever the game we were playing in the street,... When we knew from neighbor's radio that " Chake mein Chaka,.. " song is on Radio,... we were running inside our home to play that loud on our own Radio, but the radios at that time was needing 4+ minutes to get warm,... and every time we were missing it,...except its very last lines,...

Considering Andhadhun, a dark comedy was well received - I think people will enjoy Arsenic and Old Lace. In fact, Arsenic and Old Lace is so casual in its treatment of the murders that it's more hilariously macabre. And unlike Tabu in Adnhadhun, the two serial killer aunts are so sweet and innocent that you actually root for them. I need to go find my DVD so I can watch it again now.

Remembered a few old HW comedies, which we have watched repeatedly over the years

Space Balls- a totally zany spoof of Star Wars

Honey, I shrunk the Kids- most people must have watched it by now

Pure Luck- a superb comedy abt a detective using the clumsiest unluckiest guy to find a missing heiress who is also identically clumsy and unlucky ( a concept Basu used in JJ)

But it's adapted from the American TV movie "See The Man Run "

Or the original Malayalam movie Ramji Rao Speaking ( of which Hera Pheri is remake of ) is adapted from See the Man Run
