Wedding Hall:

While the guests are waiting for Raman to return with Pihu, Simmi and Param are getting restless. Simmi wants to go intervene and bring Raman back to the mandap but Toshi stops her. Suddenly the hotel staff comes with 5 people into the wedding hall- 1 male police inspector, 2 female police inspectors, 2 people who look like officials dressed in formal suits.

Hotel Staff: Sir, Bhallas ki wedding is hall mein ho rahi hai.

Simmi (whispering): Param Ji, yeh police aur baki log yahan kaise? Ho kya raha hai?

Param: Raman ne pure hotel ko sar pe utha liya tha Pihu ke nahi milne pe toh shayad unhone aage se police ko bula liya. Abhi rafa-dafa karta hoon inhein- chalo!

Simmi and Param go to meet the police and the officials.

Param: Yes Inspector! Kahiye main aapki kya seva kar sakta hoon?

Inspector: Kya aap Mr. Raman Kumar Bhalla hain?

Param: Nahin inspector. Main unka Jija hoon. Aap mujhe bataye kya baat hai?

Inspector: Sorry aap Mr. Raman Kumar Bhalla ko bulaye hum unse hi baat karenge.

Raman (from behind): Inspector main hoon Raman Bhalla. How can I help you?

Simmi: Bhai mujhe lagta hai woh Pihu nahin mil rahi thi aur app itna ghabra gaye the na isliye hotel ne police ko bula liya. But inspector bacchi mil gai hai. Woh dekhye apne Papa ke sath khadi hai. Sorry for the trouble Inspector.

Inspector: Hum kisi bacchi ke khone ke complaint pe nahin aye hai.

Court Official: Mr. Bhalla main New-Delhi family court ka representative hoon. Aapke khilaf complaint hai.

Param (worriedly to Simmi): Isi court mein Raman aur Ishita ka divorce hua tha Simmo! Yeh Ishita ne kuch kiya hai!

Simmi rushes to Raman's side.

Simmi: Dekhye inki abhi shaadi hai aur mahurat nikla ja raha hai. Aap chaliye main apse baat karti hoon aur sab sort out karti hoon. Bhai dekho Mihika aur pandit wait kar rahein hai aap ja ke mandap pe baitho.

Court Official: Dekhye Madam aap please side ho jaiye warna aap pe obstruction of justice ka ilzaam lag jayega.

Simmi looks at Param helplessly and Param signals her to be quiet and move away.

Just then Ashok walks in carrying a wedding present and because there is a crowd at the entrance he can't go in.

Ashok: Lagta hai dulhe ko darwaze pe rokne ki rasam ho rahi hai par itne officials ke sath? Shaadi toh family function hoti hai!

Param: Inspector please thoda andar aa jaiye. Hum ek taraf ja ke baat karte hain.

The inspector nods in agreement. Raman, Simmi, Param, Ashok, and Pihu follow the 5 officials as they go to a less crowded corner of the wedding hall. Toshi, Mr. Bhalla, Mihika, Madhavi, Vishwa, Adi, Ruhi, Aliya, Shagun, Mani, Bala and Kiran walk to join them too out of sheer curiosity.

Raman: Please aap batayenge complain kya hai aur kisne ki hai?

Court Official: Complaint aapki ex-wife ne ki hai Mr. Bhalla.

Raman gapes at the official and looks around helplessly at the entire family for he until now had no clue he once had a wife forget ex-wife! Simmi and Param exchange very worried looks but they know they cannot say anything until they know the full matter.

Raman: Ex-Wife...matlab?

Lawyer: Main aapki ex-wife ka lawyer hoon Mr. Bhalla. Apka aaj 7 days ka waiting period khatam ho gaya aur apne agree kiye hue ek bhi demand ko pura nahin kiya. Isliye aaj court mein complain file ki gai. Aapke pas do choice hai- ya toh aap sabhi demands abhi isi waqt pura karein ya phir breach of contract ke ilzaam me inspector aapko arrest kar lenge. Court ke order hamare pass hai. Aap chahein toh check kar sakte hain.

Raman (confused): Hold on!! Breach of contract? 7 day period? Demands? I am sorry but mujhe kuch samajh mein nahin aa raha.

Simmi: Bhai aap chalo main dekhti hoon yeh sab.

Raman(angrily): Beech me mat bol Simmi! Abhi kaha na tujhpe obstruction of justice ka case laga denge! But yeh ex-wife...Simmi yeh Pihu ki maa hai na?

Simmi looks very fearful and nods a silent yes.

Raman: Woh meri ex-wife kaise hai? Mujhe kisi ne kyun nahin bataya?

Court Official: Dekhye apne family matters aap bad mein solve karye ga. Abhi ke liye bataye aap kya karna chahte hain- aap woh demands abhi puri karenge ya phir aap par kanooni karawahi ki jaye? Aap court aur hum sab officials ka time waste kar rahein hain.

Raman: Dekhye Sir. I am very sorry. But please bear with me. Mujhe actually pata hi nahin hai ki baat kya hai!

The court official takes out some papers and shows them to Raman. Simmi is about to come close to Raman to intevene when the court official glares at her and she steps back.

Court Official: Yeh aapke signature hai?

Raman looks at the signature and nods yes.

Lawyer: Kamal hai Mr. Bhalla. Aapne khud ispe sign kiya hai aur aap hi ko nahin pata ki hum kis bare mein baat kar rahein hai? Yeh papers banwaye bhi aapne, mere client ko bheja bhi aapne woh bhi sign karke phir bhi aap anjaan ban rahein hai? Inspector main kehta hoon yeh natak kar rahein hain kyunki inhein apni hi di hui shartein puri nahin karni hai. Aap inhe arrest hi kar lo.

Raman: Look please cool down. Yeh kaise papers hai?

Lawyer: Yeh aapke divorce papers hai Mr. Bhalla.

Raman looks at him and then turns to the family looking shocked.

Raman: What?!?

Lawyer: Aaj aap dusri shaadi kar rahein hai toh aap apne ex- wife ke prati sari zimmedari bhul gaye kya Mr. Bhalla?

Raman (to Simmi): Yeh divorce meri tabyat kharab hone se pehle hua tha kya isliye mujhe kuch yaad nahin iske bare mein?

Simi is now petrified and standing like a statue not knowing what to say!

Raman (in a voice of self-realization): Aapne kaha 7 day period- matlab divorce ko abhi 7 days hue hain right?!?

Lawyer: 5th February 2018 ko aapka divorce fast track pe grant kiya gaya tha.

Raman: Fast-track matlab?

Lawyer: Fast-Track divorce cases are granted within a month of filing the divorce. Aapke case mein aapne papers 18th January ko sign kare aur mere client ne 20th January ko sign kiya and 21st ko aap hi ke lawyer ne family court mein yeh papers file kiye hain!

Raman (very angry): Maine yeh sign...

Param: Inspector aap please humein 10-20 minutes ka time denge. Hum ek baar apas mein discuss kar le aur apne lawyer se bhi phone pe consult kar le ki humein aage kya karna chahiye. Aap please sab tab tak baithye main kuch khane ko...

Inspector: Hum duty pe hain koi khatirdari nahi chahiye humein. Aap jaldi apne lawyer ko contact kijiye aur apna decission bataye. Hum yahin wait karte hain.

The entire group of people leaves and goes to Raman's room in the hotel. While everyone is going, Simmi and Param pull Mihika aside.

Simmi: Oye Mihika, yeh kya demands ki baat kar rahein hai? Papers mein aisa kya tha?

Mihika: Simmi tumhara dimag kharab ho gaya hai kya- papers banwa ke tumne mujhe diye the Ishita ko us din office mein dikhane ko isliye yeh tumhein pata hona chahiye! Aur papers Raman se sign karwa ke bhi tum hi lai thi- aur Ishita ke bhi sign tumhi ne karwaye un papers pe- toh tum batao na ki kya demands dalwaye the tumne?!? Maine toh bus apna lawyer diya tha divorce karwane ke liye woh bhi jab sab kuch sign ho gaya tha!

Simmi: Param Ji, Mihika theek keh rahi hai. But maine toh koi conditions rakhe hi nahi the phir yeh ho kya raha hai?

Param: Ishita ne kuch toh loophole nikal liya hoga divorce papers mein usi ko use karke shaadi rokne ki koshish kar rahi hai. Kaisa lawyer use kiya tha tune Simmo? Ab chal Raman ko sambhal. Mihika apne lawyer ko bula sakti ho kya yahan?

Mihika: Aap chalo main use call karke aati hun. But Simmi agar Raman ko is divorce mein mera kya involvement hai pata chal gaya na toh woh yeh shaadi nahi karenge. Toh andar jo karogi soch samajhkar karna.

Mihika leaves to make the call.

Param: Simmo yeh thik keh rahi hai. Agar affidavit ki baat khulegi toh hum nahi keh sakte ki Mihika ka haath tha. Hamari sabse badi jeet aaj ki shaadi hai toh uske liye hum Raman ki thodi narazgi toh jhel sakte hain na. Is waqt Mihika ko protect karna zaroori hai.

Mihika: Luckily woh pas ke area mein hi hai. Maine room number bata diya hai woh seedhe wahan aa jayega. Ab chalo!!

Raman's Hotel Room:

Simmi, Param and Mihika enter Raman's room and find him to be very irritated and agitated.

Raman (very angry): Simmi is room mein kisi ko nahi pata ki yeh kis divorce ki baat ho rahi hai! January mein maine jo bhi papers sign kiye tere diye hue the- aur kisi ne mujhe sign karne ke liye koi papers nahi diye and most importantly yeh divorce ka chapter aaya kahan se?

Simmi: Dekho Bhai maine aapko kaha tha na ki woh Pihu ki Maa acchi nahi hai- na is ghar ke liye, na aapke liye aur na hi Pihu ke liye...main bus chahti thi ki uska saya bhi aapke life se mit jaye aur mujhe Pihu ki bahut chinta thi- use ek maa chahiye- isliye maine hi aapko papers diye the sign karne ke liye aur phir Pihu ki Maa se bhi sign karwaya. Bhai I know mera tareeka galat tha lekin mera irada aapko aur Pihu ko protect karne ka tha.

Hearing Simmi badmouth Pihu's mother Madhavi is about to speak up when Ashok looks at her and signals a no so she keeps quiet.

Raman is very furious listening to Simmi.

Raman: Simmi tum pagal ho kya? Mere life ka itna bada decission mujhe bina bataye?!? Maine tujhpe itna bharosa kiya aur tune yeh...

Pihu (crying): Simmi bua aapne meri Mumma ke sath yeh kiya? Aap ne cheating karke unka divorce karaya?!?

Raman hugs Pihu and glares at Simmi. Pihu shrugs off Raman's arms and goes to Ruhi who hugs her protectively.

Raman: Teri wajah se main pata nahin kya kar baitha hun...meri beti ko kitni takleef ho rahi hai.. aur woh Pihu ki Maa... woh jaisi bhi ho Simmi meri beti ki Maa hai woh...meri life ka sabse anmol khazana meri beti hai jo mujhe usse mila hai...aur yeh kya shartein hai exactly??

Simmi: Bhai maine toh koi shartein rakhi hi nahin thi...zarror us Pihu ki Maa ne papars badal...

Suddenly Ashok starts slowly clapping and everyone turns to look at him.

Ashok: Simmi Ji. Aapki story har second pe change ho rahi hai. Abhi 2 minute pehle aapne kaha ki aapne papers Raman ko diye sign karne ke liye phir wahin papers aapne Pihu ki Maa se sign karwaya- mujhe ek baat samjhao- sign kiye hue papers koi kaise badal sakta hai? Waise bhi aapki batoon se lag raha hai ki dono signatures aapke samne hi hue hain toh woh papers badal kaise sakti hai?

Raman listens to Ashok thoughtfully and thinks he is making a very good point. Just then there is a knock at the door and Mihika's lawyer enters.

Simmi: Bhai isi lawyer ne divorce karwaya hai.

Raman: Kya terms dale the tune divorce paper me?

Mihika's Lawyer: Dekhye. Aapko koi galat fehmi ho rahi hai. Maine papers file kiye aur appka divorce karwaya zaroor lekin maine woh papers banwaye nahi the. Papers to aap hi ke yahan se ban ke aye the.

Raman: Toh tune papers padhe nahin submit karne se pehle?

Mihika's Lawyer: Arey aapke yahan se itna pressure tha ki jaldi submit karo...jaldi divorce karwao...mujhe toh sare documents, papers file karne ke aadhe ghante pehle mile haath mein aur court ki deadline thi toh maine bus signatures check kiye aur submit kar diya. Aur aap mujhpe kya ungli utha rahe ho? Divorce aapka- sign aapke- papers bhi aapne banwaye aur aap hi ko nahi pata ki usmein likha kya tha?

Raman is silenced by the lawyer's response. He sits on his bed and rubs his head. Suddenly he realises something and looks angrily at Simmi. Simmi shudders under his gaze.

Raman: Simmi, Romi aur Mihika ka jab divorce hua tha toh unhone court ke na jaane kitne chakkar kate the. Yeh divorce bina court gaye finalise kaise ho gaya? I mean at least ek baar toh hum dono ko court mein jana hota na!

Simmi looks around nervously! She looks at Param but even he has no trick up his sleeve that can save her.

Raman (threatening voice): Kya kiya tune Simmi ki bina court gaye divorce ho gaya?

Simmi takes a deep breath and tells him about the affidavit.

Raman: Aur Pihu ki Maa ko yeh pata tha?

Simmi is about to lie when she sees Ashok is about to say something and she thinks that she might as well as own up and try to manipulate the truth a little because if Ashok starts talking he might tell Raman about how she used threats to get Ishita to sign. Simmi tells him how she first just showed her the divorce papers so she could read it but when it was time to sign she slipped in the affidavit so that she would sign it without realising!

Raman looks at her as if he is seeing a completely different person!

Simmi: Dekho Bhai aapki ek toh tabyat waise hi theek nahin rehti upar se haal filhaal ghar mein, business mein kitna kuch hua hai aur main keh rahi hoon na is aurat ka aapki life se nikal jana hi sahi hai. Maine joh kiya aapko aur Pihu ko protect karne ke liye kiya! Main bus yahin chahti thi ki aap dono ek naye sire se apni life shuru karein.

Raman: Tune papers kis lawyer se banwaye? Phone laga usko.

Simmi fumbles with her phone a bit and dials a number.

Raman: Phone speaker pe kar.

Orignal Lawyer: Adaab!

Simmi: Hello Ashfaq ji. Main Simi Khurana. Aapke pas aai thi kuch dino pehle divorce papers banwane ke liye apne bhai Raman Bhalla ke liye. Mujhe un papers ke bare mein kuch poochna tha.

Orignal Lawyer: Dekhye main unka beta bol raha hun. Darahsal Abba toh Mecca gaye hue hain 1 mahine baad wapas ayenge.

Simmi: Toh aapko pata hoga na unke kam ke bare mein?

Orignal Lawyer: Mujhe kaise? Main toh unke saath kam nahi karta woh akele hi apna practice chalate hai aur sab manage bhi karte hain. Aap 1 mahine baad phone karye ga please.

Simmi: Shukriya.

Simmi disconnect the call and looks at Param helplessly.

Raman: Simmi ab kaise pata chalega ki kya shartein hai?

Mihika's Lawyer: Dekhye apke ex-wife ka lawyer hoga na. Usne toh papers padhe hai tabhi case file hua hai aaj court mein. Aap usko bulaye aur puchye.

Param leaves and after a few minutes returns with Ishita's lawyer.

Raman: Dekhye bina mujhe koi taunt mare aap please seedhe seedhe mujhe batayenge ki conditions kya hai?

Ishita's lawyer eyes Raman for a second, rolls his eyes then open the folder to read out from a paper.

Ishita's Lawyer: Aapne unke samne yeh condition rakhi thi ki ek baar divorce finalise ho jaye woh aapse kabhi mil nahi sakti, kabhi baat nahi kar sakti, kabhi directly contact nahin kar sakti.

Everyone is stunned to hear this.

Ishita's Lawyer: Iske badle mein aapne unko offer kiya tha ki kyunki unko Bhalla surname apne naam ke sath bahut pasand hai woh yeh surname officially retain kar sakti hain. Monthly alimony ke badle mein aap unhein Pihu Industries ke jo aapke khud ke shares hai uska 55% hissa unke naam transfer karenge aur Pihu Bhalla ki custody ab se Mrs. Bhalla ke pass hogi.

Simmi and Param look at each other in disbelief. Raman is staring at the lawyer as if his world has come crashing down. The Iyers and all children look at Ashok who signals them to keep calm and quiet.

Simmi: Yeh sab us Ish...

Param grabs Simmi's arm to shut her up!

Param: Simmo! Yeh tune hi shuru kiya tha na ki Pihu ki Maa aur Ishita do alag log hai. Pehle hi bahut rayta phel gaya hai. Ab Ishita ke khilaf yahan kuch mat bol. Ek galti aur hui Raman ko pata chal jana hai ki Ishita aur Pihu ki Maa do log nahin ek hai aur phir tu soch le kya hoga. Abhi Raman ko sambhal.

Ishita's Lawyer: There is more Mr. Bhalla! Cutody rules ke under Pihu Bhalla ke father yani ki aap Pihu se kabhi bhi mil sakte hai lekin kyunki aapki hi shart hai ki Mrs. Bhalla khud aapke samne nahin aa sakti isliye Pihu ko aapke paas lana aur milne ke baad use wapas Mrs. Bhalla ke pass pahuchane ka kaam aap dono ki salon purani bahut khas dost Miss Ishita karengi. Baki Bhalla aur Khurana parivaar agar Pihu se milna chahta hai toh unhein Mrs. Bhalla se permission leni hogi. Bina permission ke agar aapke alawa aapka koi bhi family member Pihu se milne ki ya contact karne ki koshish karta hai toh Mrs. Bhalla unke against legal action le sakti hain. Aapne yeh bhi agree kiya tha ki yeh sari demands aap 11th February 2018 ko 10.00 am ke pehle puri kar denge warna aap par legal action liya ja sakta hai.

Raman looks down at the floor and shakes his head with complete disbelief! He then raises his head slightly and looks up at Pihu who is hugging Ruhi and not even looking at Raman!

Simmi: Bhai mujhe nahin pata yeh conditions kahan se aaye. Main aisa soch bhi nahin sakti hoon..

Raman stands up and slaps Simmi hard on her face!

Raman: YEH KYA KIYA TUNE SIMMI?!? PIHU KI MAA SE TERI PROBLEM KYA HAI??ACCHA KHASA MERI LIFE SE DOOR HI THI NA WOH- KABHI MUJHE USNE ITNE TIME MEIN PARESHAN YA CONTACT NAHI KIYA, NA HI PIHU KO- PHIR TUNE YEH SAB KYUN KIYA?!? TERI WAJAH SE MERI BACCHI MUJHSE DOOR HONE WALI HAI! MUJHE TOH YAAD BHI NAHI THA KI MERI BETI HAI BUT JAB WOH MERI LIFE MEIN WAPAS AAI MUJHE JEENE KA EK MAKSAD MIL GAYA AUR PATA NAHI KIS BAAT KA BADLA NIKAL RAHI HO TUM MUJHSE AUR USSE KI TUMNE KUCH NAHI SOCHA. DHOKHE SE HUM DONO KA DIVORCE KARA DIYA!

Simmi: Bhai maine yeh nahin kiya!

Raman: TOH PHIR YEH HUA KAISE?? TUNE PAPERS BANWAYE- RIGHT? SIGN BHI HUM DONO KE TUNE KARWAYE- RIGHT? HAMARE PEETH PEECHE US AFFIDAVIT KE THROUGH DIVORCE BHI TUNE KARWAYA RIGHT? DIVORCE CERTIFICATE BHI TERE HI PASS AYA HOGA RIGHT?

Toshi (whisper to Simmi): Ae ki syapa hai Simmi? Ishita hi toh Pihu ki maa hai toh phir...

Simmi: Mummy ji Ishita aasani se divorce ke liye manti nahin aur sign nahi karti na toh maine uspe bahut pressure dala tha usi ka badla nikal rahi hai.

Raman (to both lawyers): Aap log please thodi der bahar wait karenge. Mujhe sochne ka time chahiye.

Raman (to the family): Please bahar nikal jaiye aap log. Mujhe thodi der ke liye akela chod do.

Everyone goes out and Raman shuts the door behind them.
