@padma in MB, Krishna finally makes Arjuna fight the war for his Lakshmi. We need to understand Krishna holds the reins of Arjuna's battle. Arjuna is man with confusions and Krishna is mentor, guide who solves his confusions on the need to fight the war. Though the war is for the kingdom, the reality of the war is what happened to Panchali in the infamous hall of dice.

A family insults the Lakshmi of their family dragging her to court and trying to disrobe her. Panchali is the kulvadhu of kuruvansh. It is her honor that is insulted to the extend she is called a prostitute publicly. Narayan ends the blood of that vansh that insulted women.

At the end of war no kuruvansh blood is left. Arjun is not the blood of kuruvanshi. He is the son given by Indra based on the boon Kunti had, and Subhadra is the blood of Yadhu vansha. It is their grandson that is protected finally who takes the kingdom of hastinapur. In other words Narayan protects Yadhu Vansh through his sister even before Gandhari utters her curse.

It looks Yadhu vansh blood is destroyed. But then it survives through Subhadra. That's the beauty of Vishnu Maya.

A society that discards its women, not give names to its women every time he shows, he will give justice to the woman. A family, culture, country or a region gets protected only if its respects its women.

@Padma Lord Shiva is not directly seen in MB. He is there in the form of Hanuman who is said to be the amsavatar of Shiva. He gives directions to Bhima on war fare during their vanvas. I hope you know the story of Bhima trying to lift Hanuman's tail, failing and finally Hanuman shows him who he is and then give him guidance. Then Hanuman is shown as guarding the flag post of Arjuna's chariot. In other words when Arjuna comes for war he is guarded both by Narayana and Rudra. When he chooses Narayana, Rudra comes along with Narayana.

The man who chooses Narayana over his power has the right knowledge. Wealth comes with Narayana as Lakshmi resides in Naryana's heart. Power to comes along with that. But only time can show the visual proof of that power which happens on the 14th day as far as MB goes when Krishna takes the chakra from the sun removing the illusion of sunset.
