Arshi were practically strangers when they got married. So, unless & until one doesn't share their likes or dislikes, it is impossible for the others to understand it. & Arshi surely lack communication in their marriage, as a result both of them suffered. Both of them assumed lot of things about each other & took actions accordingly. None of them tried to understand what was wrong - maybe because both of them didn't try to admit that something was indeed wrong.
But among all of it, I am really surprised by Garima's behaviour. Being a widow, when she has single handedly raised her two daughters, how could she offer such arrangements for them ? It was as if she is interested about Arnav's concern & wellfare more than Arnav himself. What kind of twisted psychology is it ?
The story is quite different & definitely quite praiseworthy that you tried to bring out a completely different Arnav over here.
