spoiler ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aaah the power of fairytales! I too want to meet a handsome as-they-come prince and make him fall in love with crazy, free, peasant me. 30 seconds into Khubsoorat and I wanted to be a teenager with raging hormones and a confused heart. Director Shashanka Ghosh does not waste a single frame of Indira Bhist's tight screenplay. He gives it the Disney sweep of magical realism but sets it firmly in indigenous India.

The heightened characters are all pitched and placed perfectly. The rich, Rajasthani Rajput, Yuvraj Vikram Singh Rathore, is a shrewd businessman buying the palaces of poor royals for heritage hotels. The flamboyant FaceTiming free spirited physiotherapist, Dr. Milli Chakroborty, is working for IPL players. Their paths cross because of an ailing, wheelchair bound father, played to stubborn perfection by Amir Raza Hussain and colourful, mad joy is brought back into a household that has forgotten how to laugh. Add to it quivering righteous servants, a subservient wild sister and two mothers - one stern and disciplined and the other loud and in your face. Both will do anything for their families.

One has no clue of what her children are up to or even want and the other is practically in bed with her daughter and her lover.

While the kids themselves are carefree about physical intimacy, they are baffled by love. They will kiss without thinking but think and think and think before exposing their emotions. It is these contemporary truisms that make this overblown fantasy world accessible. Though its all very believable, the spell is never broken and you float along, willing it to be your story. The inner voices of the characters that runs like commentary for the audience only helps to pull you in further.

Rohit Khilnani's review

The attention to detail - the electronic fly swatter, the bespoke leather wheelchair, the bottles of Moet, the mirrored suite with brocade bed spreads - add layers of subtext without the need for narrative.

Sonam in all her bubbly fashionista glory has been used to the fullest by Shashanka. He just uses her as she is and it works. The part is not just written for her, it is her. The irony is that it's the first film where I didn't see Sonam but only the character.

Fawad shows you how a real man does it. It being everything. His quiet screen presence makes you fuzzy and tingly and you really believe any minute he's going to jump out of the screen grab you, kiss you right on the mouth and whisk you away into his palace. His silky dialogue delivery transports you to an enchanted bygone era. And when he takes his top off in the dark you want all the Khans and the Kapoors to stop waxing or simply keep their shirts on. India, please lets keep him.

This is no path breaker but for the fact that I just can't fault it, I still have a smile plastered on my face and I'll probably go see it again... tomorrow, I am giving it 4 warm happy stars.

BO update: Daawat-e-Ishq and Khoobsurat open slow

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, September 19, 2014 - 14:58 IST

This week's two releases DAAWAT-E-ISHQ and KHOOBSURAT have been vigorously promoted in the week leading up to their release. But surprisingly both films have opened on a very average note across the country.

Despite the slow start, reports suggest that the Aditya Roy Kapur - Parineeti Chopra starrer DAAWAT-E-ISHQ has been faring slightly better than the Sonam Kapoor - Fawad Khan starrer KHOOBSURAT. Though no reason is being attributed to the slow start for both releases, DAAWAT-E-ISHQ is expected to fare marginally better than KHOOBSURAT over the weekend. However, both films will now have to depend heavily on strong word of mouth to post good weekend collection figures. Business for both is expected to pick up with the evening shows

More than happy relieved. 😛

He comes, does his work, gets appreciated and goes back with pride of being an actor.how overhyped and overrated I do not know, but he surely knows his job and no one not even the neutral people who do not belong to mere 20 fangirls of IF can deny that ract unfortunately.

Hope who is Fawad crap is stopped to pass time and get pleasure in this forum.

Sorry if my comments offend anyone, but thats my opinion.

My review😃

Okay so I just saw the movie and OMG It was adorable with a capital A. The story may be nothing new but it had a charm of its own only because of both the leads. Both. Being a Disney movie,it had all its elements such as fun, romance, heartbreak, etc but these two held their own and created MAGIC <3

Coming to Fawad, what a fabulous actor. His expressions, his body language of that of a no nonsense Rajput prince, was bang on and he was Perfectly cast. As for Sonam, she held her own in her portrayal of the crazy, hyper and in her own terms 'royally misfit' doctor! I read many reviews that she was OTT ,annoying etc but I think she did a great job playing Milli. In fact this character is tailor made for her 😳😆

Fawad has definitely carved a niche for himself by his restrained and subtle performance 👏 And coming to his chemistry with Sonam,OH MY GOD (Janice style) ☺️ Their romance was adorable,Hot and really really sweet ,all 3 at once😳

As for the rest of the cast,Kirron Kher was hilarious as the Punjabi Mom and at several parts,I was rofling 🤣 Liked Sonam Kirron ji scenes and Sonam and Aamir Raza Hussain ji (who plays Fawad's dad)'s scenes as well😆 Ratna Pathak as the strict matriarch of the Rathore family did a commendable job too.

Special mention to the sets <3 The palaces looked royal and breathtaking and even the Rajasthan scenery was a beautiful contrast. All the costumes which Sonam wore, she pulled it off with elan. Nobody can pull off such outfits apart from her,IMO. Songs were nice and fun too!

Overall a very feel good movie and you have to watch the movie to see Milli and Viku's interactions as well as their scorching chemistry ❤️ Oh and also, their KISS. Hayyee
