Same here

I recommend ppl to watch BR Chopra's version - its the best, i dont think anyone can top that, the actors, the emotions and the voices which the actors had to their characters and getting across their dialogues etc

Mahabharat by BR Chopra was a masterpiece of Indian Television. I have watched it twice over. Though technology wasn't too developed that time, I never saw a single glitch in the technical aspects. The story was flawlessly portrayed.

All the actors fitted their characters beautifully. I remember liking Krishna played by Nitish Bharadwaj as my favourite. Nitish had become such a fever that people would touch his feet thinking he is real Krishna. His charming smile and honey dipped voice made him fit into Krishna's character effortlessly.
Mukesh Khanna as Bheeshma was iconic. I still call him Bheeshma :).
Roopa Ganguly was the beautiful Draupadi. All the Pandavas were portrayed so well, and so was Karna.
It is inevitable for us seniors generations to compare the new Mahabharat with the old. But I hope to see it in new light, as the promos look promising.

I agree 😊
Krishna and Bheeshma were so epic. It was legendary.

I haven't seen the old MB, no. I have read Mahabharat five or six times though. While I will confess that I am skeptical about the new cast, I am sure that the show will blow me away. The promos are so promising. 😆

I was really small when it was shown the first time! It is my favorite story in the whole world! The best thing the story has is that no one is evil! Everyone are right in their own way! No one is good or bad! It is the circumstances which change the whole story! I still remember waitingfor the show on Sunday and spinning round and round during the yada yada hi dharmasya part of the title song! I used to not even move when it was shown! Loved the show and always missed it badly! Really glad that SP created a new version of the mahabharat!

I watched old Mahabharat and I watched first episode of the new one. Honestly one shouldn't compare with each other because the Old MB is in detail and has more explanations whereas this one is going to be short but beautiful (as in the way settings and what not).
I think the purpose of the new MB is to attract the current and younger generations.

Instead of over thinking it, enjoy! If you don't like it, watch the old one! :) You can find the DvDs of Old MB at many online stores.
