80s brigade: Sunny,Anil, Sanju - who's better?

Now that Sridevi and Madhuri comparisons still keep happening. Why leave actors behind?

What about Sunny Deol, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Mithun, Govinda, Jackie? The new guys who started making it tough for Bachchan, Dharmendra and forced Shatrughan Sinha, Vinod Khanna types to play older characters (bhaiya if not baap).
Even Rishi Kapoor's career had begun to do better as a solo hero.


Who was better and more successful? Whose overall career would be considered a bigger accomplishment? Who was the all rounder?

Let's also discuss these guys (some make it look like it was only Amitabh and later Khans...these guys get ignored).

Anil the better actor

Anil Kapoor! amazing films and amazing acting!

80s mein SUNNY Deol was THE thing!! his debut in betaab was great and then he went on to movies like arjun, ghayal!! OMG! n he was even good at comedy and action, emotions...all in good package. In 80s, he dint dance as much so that weakness never got noticed much. I still remember seeing his movie --arjun-- at a neighbours house (those were days of VCR) and it stayed with me for quite sometime! esp the kero kero song! 😊😊

Can anybody tell me who was the biggest draw among the 80s guys? I've heard Anil Kapoor was considered to have touched Amitabh's throne and was touted as next numero uno in 1980s.

Was Sunny Deol a close second to him?

I am curious to know Sunny's status. He gave lot of hits through 90s and ATBB Gadar. And Anil, doesn't seem to have any ATBB (does he have one?).

Govinda seems more like an also-ran in 80s but had lot of hits in 90s. He didn't get reduced to a character actor like Anil towards late 90s.

Acting-wise, I think Anil and Govinda were best.

Overall career I think Anil has an edge because of longevity, international projects and ability to keep reinventing himself with changing times.

Jackie, Sanjay Dutt seem waste. I don't know if Jackie had potential to accomplish more. But Sanjay Dutt seemed to have it all going for him till his other issues wrecked his career.

Mithun. What was his status? How many hits he had? Where did he stand in comparison to Sunny, Anil, Sanjay, Govinda, Jackie?

What more significant work except Disco dancer?

I want to know about it!

And hey! Wasn't Rishi Kapoor beginning to do better in solo hero films in 80s? What was his status?
