Dear Rocker,

Please don't misunderstand me. I kind of disagreed with the points you made here.😳

Zoya, Mariam, Humeira

Humeira- I felt she was weak in thinking about suicide. But I think Gul has already dealt with her – she has realised that suicide is not the answer to her problems and bravely stood up for her beliefs against her ammi. Generally, people who try to commit suicide and not succeed, are attention seekers- I said GENERALLY. Humeira is not that because she was actually depressed. I felt enough closure has been given on the suicide incident.😊

Zoya_ Actually, I don't understand why some of us want Zoya to be shown as a weakling who'd want to lie moaning and groaning over her misfortunes. I don't want to see her as being fearful of closed spaces etc. inviting Asad's sympathy- what other purpose would that serve?

Zoya has gone through a lot in life. She lost her mother in a fire- ran away from a wedding, got abducted and was almost forced to marry ...the latest in her string of adventures was getting buried alive. NOW I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU THAT EVEN THE BRAVEST OF MEN would go through some PTSD- but I don't see the purpose of that in the story- if you get what I mean. Plus, Zoya was drugged. She was out the whole time, the horror of being buried alive was not that real.😉

Mariam- now, a girl who gets raped has to be depressed. I do expect that .

Where is Mariam coming from? She belongs to a society that does not consider rape evil.Rape must be quite common in a society like that- however gruesome that sounds. I can imagine that many of Mariam's friends had similar experiences. The reaction of the victim in this setup need not be the same as what we see in our society. In fact, thousands of women are raped over and over again by their fathers, brothers, husbands...they all go about life looking as normal as the next person.😲

What I am trying to tell you is, these issues are too huge- esp, the one about rape and honour killing- it is totally beyond the scope of a romantic comedy. I am just glad that the creatives have been sensitive about women's issues- and happy they have left it at that.

They have thrown some questions at us. They are not going to give us the answers because there are no answers to those questions.🤗

Really hope I didn't offend you.🤗

I completely agree with you. They just cannot give answers to those questions in this show. These are very unfortunate issue happening so frequently in India.

Why would i get offended? 😆

Au contrary your post has proved the point I was trying to make, alarmingly so.

Every second person who tries to commit suicide has at least attempted it once before. Meaning when you attempt once you're likely to attempt again.

Let me assure you it's not as simple as realising "Oh i was wrong" If it was so India wouldn't have nearly as many suicide cases as it does.

Rape can never be regarded as anything less than soul scarring. It's commonality does not reduce it's impact.

As for Zoya, well my main problem is that she seems to have gone back to square one. I never said she had to be shown weak quite the opposite to actually show Zoya grow out of it would have been more impactful. And drugged or not even if she cant remember it her body can.

@Blue - I refuse to settle for less.

If this was going to be a romantic comedy then Mrs Gul should not have bitten off more than she can chew.

Hence i believe differently.

You see i'm a fan of Gul Khan and being so I think this is more than a shallow romantic comedy.

The ability to send a social message while keeping the audience still interested with romance is what I except from Gul. 😊

Cheers.

Dear Rocker,
Thanks for the reassurance. I am a huge Gul fan too.🤗

May I present my counterpoints.

Every second person who tries to commit suicide has at least attempted it once before. Meaning when you attempt once you're likely to attempt again. :

50-50 that Humeira might attempt it again. What would be her motive if so? She has already made the decision to let Ayan go- andf nothing is going to affect her more than this. So, I really don't expect her to go that route. In fact, I want her to grow stronger as a person with this experience behind her.😊

Rape can never be regarded as anything less than soul scarring. It's commonality does not reduce it's impact.

The commonality does not reduce the impact- that is why Mariam wanted to commit suicide. She did not want to live the rest of her life with her rapist- that in itself is a good message- SHE WANTED TO FIGHT THE SYSTEM- she was proving a point by taking her life (though I don't approve of her methods at all.)

Actually, I think Gul kind of highlighted this with Humeira's track- she almost got molested and yes, the reason was she had been foolish and unsuspecting- the message was clear- be careful about social networking. Gul might not repeat a similar message, I feel. I doubt if it will be about Mariam getting justice and Zoya or Asad delivering it for her.

If this was going to be a romantic comedy then Mrs Gul should not have bitten off more than she can chew:

Do tell me if you have watched Gul's first iconic show- the one which was aired on the channel that closed down. This is the exact comment I hear from fans of that show- and well, Gul did disappoint them. (And I keep wondering why they expected that in a rom com.)

I am not trying to prove myself right- just asking you to keep your expectations from a romantic comedy a little less, lest you feel cheated at the end of it.🤗

😆

I haven't watched that show but still Gul and me go way back. 😆

Rest assured if i wanted to watch a serious show i wouldn't look at hindi soaps. 😊 But I can't see some things taken lightly because it sends a bad message.

I think we're looking at the same side of the coin. I'm not saying that these things are trivialized i'm only saying they shouldn't be.
I'm very happy with the way things are going in QH, actually a bit too happy. 😃

But you know I aim high kya jaane atleast one of them might come true. A bucket list of sort😆
