Intresting Topic....

Whenever i visited India, i always wondered why so many people there were vegetarians😕

When i found out why, it was easier for me to understand their point of view...honestly I feel being a veg. or a non veg. is completely up to a person.

Having said that, i feel that either of the 2 do not deserve to b looked down upon. Sometimes iv seen veg. ppl over reacting when they hear that you're a non veg. ...that, i feel isnt right. They have no right to make anyone feel guilty about having meat. The same way, i think people who are vegetarians shouldnt be forced to try out meat either.

One thing i still fail to understand is how many people say they are vegetarians but conviniently eat chicken. I mean, since when is chicken considered a veggie? In such cases, they should at least accept that they're non veg na😕

I have nothing against either of the 2 people, i believe in letting people do what they believe😛

I am not aware of any animal population that would overpopulate and swarm the earth if human beings stopped eating them - except pigs in the streets of India which were actually a man made problem.

If you see from a normal non-veg. eating habit, we eat what we culture/help to breed(that includes fish, chicken, goat, sea-foods, not talking about exotic food).

Can you please tell me the name of the fishes which is on the verge of being extinct. As far as I know of the fishes popular all over the world, I heard nothing of that sort.

The Chinese remedy you have mentioned that's for some treatment not they are eaten as a diet. If you say so, There lots of vaccines and medicines made out of amimal body cell, which we all use irrespective of being a veg. or non-veg. Don't the veg. people use leather stuff? Where do they come from? Without hurting or touching the animal!!!!!

Funny, I do not know if you had read my other poston the same day about the genetic difference in sports people - but I had mentioned the same thing.
There are couple of caveats though.

  1. Most profassional sports-persons eat meat anyway - Hindu or not. So indian athelets are weaker than their counterparts regardless of their diet. It might have something to do with nerve muscle synapses, neurotransmitter composition and quantities and microfibrile in the muscles - I don't know much. Sports medicine and physiology is a different ball game - so to speak. So you can feed Ashish Nehra and Ajit Agarkar the same diet that you feed Shane Bond and McGrath but they will still have a weaker physic. Sania Mirza will never serve aces like Sharapova and the Williams sisters although she is not a vegertarian.

Non-Indian atheletes are obvoiusly more strong, it goes to the genes and the kind of body structure they possess. And to add of course the diet. I wonder if Indian atheletes do eat beef in their diet. If you see a Pakistani fast-bowler who grows up on beef, he is far more stronger than his Indian counter-part. Sania might not be as good as the ones you mentioned, at least she is the one very much in the news. I never heard of a veg. girl doing as much as she has achieved. (I personally don't eat beef not on belief that's because when I was a baby I only survived on cow's milk. Yahan thori sentiments ki baat a jati hain).

Yes, I learned about the the Bose experiments in school - it has been ages, thanks for reminding me. Nevertheless fact remains that plants do not have nervous system - there is no central pain sensing organ analogous to animal brain in plants.

That's what they can't express or as you say don't feel the pain. But a life is lost.

  1. There are downsides to Non-vegetarian diet also. You are more likely to have parasitic infection, mad cow disease, e.coli and other infections, there is increased chance of colon cancer and heart attacks and strokes.

I agree about the diseases you have mention, you forgot the Bird Flue, which was very much in the news. But record show that the average life-span of a non-veg. is higher than that of a veg.

By choice anyone can lead a life-style he or she likes. But one should not feel superior to others just because others follow a different food habit.

I agree with you that vegetarians should not be arrogant about being vegetarians and look down upon others. Like I said, how would Eskimos possibally be vegetarians? I have heard- not actually read myself - that Ramayan and Mahabharat have references to Ram, Krishna and Pandavs eating birds. And then of course there are pivotal reference of killing a dear to make dress for Sita and the so called 'Ashwamegh' - the horse IS supposed to be sacrificed after it returns home unconquered.

WOWWWW!!!!!....So well written👏👏👏

I'm a very staunch vegetarian.....I even dont take garlic, mushrooms and eggs.....I'm not a non-vegetarian because its forbidden in my caste...I'm a brahmin, and am not supposed to consume meat or flesh of any sort!!I have been brought up without being fed non veg,and now even if anyone offers me, I woudl refuse to take it...I feel nauseated by the smell, so I cant eat with my friends who eat meat!

And also being an animal lover is an incentive. You have explained the trauma and the suffering inflicted on the animals beautifully.👏So not going to add more about that

As for eating a balanced diet,I think most of the required proteins is available in vegetarian substitutes like soya milk etc...And many are going the vegetarian way these days as apparently the meat of some anuimals causes diseases in the long run(correct me if I'm wrong...I vaguely remember reading something like this sometime back)

Hey thanks! well consider yourself very lucky because now a days, so many diseases are on the horizon. Meat lovers never know that they get up in the morning and there is a news regarding infected meat in the market with bacteria or a virus.

I also started with Vege diet because of my Husband. Our religion doesn't tell us anything about meat, but since he didn't eat meat by his choice, i also withdrew from it. Now, I too, get nauseated.

You know I was born and raised in India and I was used to a vegetarian diet, but when I came to america, I was so schocked to see meat consumtion. May be because meat and potatoes have been the main diet for western countries. I get so amazed at my co-workers and my American Friends. They can consume meat three times a day and they crave for even more. May be because we got used to the vegetarian diet and they got used to their meat diet.

Hell I can't live without my moli parontas, so may be the same way, they can't live without their pork chops😆

See I don't understand that......why do you need to have a religion to tell you to stop eating meat? And if you follow a religion and believe in God, then how can you eat meat?

I understand when were a hunting and gathering society where there were no social norms, people ate meat...raw meat...all that blood dripping out of the bones. but as we became civilized, we found out that we don't need to kill animals to fill our stomach. We can grow crops. why do we still do it? If God has given us plenty of Plants or vegetable, why kill another living being?
I am telling you guys...it's that flesh eating craving that we have inside.
I wonder if it was written clearly in Quraan or Bible that one should not consume flesh of any kind...how many of you would have stopped? Seriously, it's just a question.......Do you need a religious stamp to stop eating meat? Would you choose your meat eating habits over your religion? Or would you be like many followers of some faiths where eating meat is forbidden, but they still eat it?

QUOTE]

I repeat, if God would have wanted us to stay away from non-veg., then he would have made us herbivorous like cow/goat, we are omnivorous. We are capable of digesting non-veg food unlike cow/goat. So, by eating non-veg. the purpose is served.

The way you said craving for flesh it's not true. It not for the pleasure of killing. It's the taste, like any good veg. dish you crave for. Then what about egg? It's a non-veg too, but no flesh. Still people crave for it in the breakfast. Though for convenience I have seen many vegetarians eat egg and cakes made out of egg, saying they consider it veg. I wonder, how could egg be a vegetable?

If one believes his/her religion does not permit eating non-veg and one is not exposed to such environment, then it's natural for him/her to stay away. No one forces him/her to start eating. If someone has a different view or belief it's personal choice.

I know what you are saying Pradarshak. It's a matter of choice, but if today you find out that they have found some ancient documents related to your religion, and it cleary orders all its followers to not touch meat, will you stop it?
I am just curious, how many of you will stop it? Doesn't matter if you are christain, Muslim, Hindu, or Sikh, what would you do?

well i would like to say that vegetarianism is the best in the world
you can't eat one of god's creation like that!
grow up!
vegetables can also give us that nutrition which non veg food gives!
and it's not just the matter of choice !it's the matter of health!
after all health is wealth! 😉
